Paper Substitute?

A few days ago, a new member jumped in and wondered if his topic was ok. It involved a paper type material and he wanted to know if it would qualify for the forum. I believe the product was Depco or something like that.

I have searched for that thread and for some reason cannot find it. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

I don't know? I responded to that post. I just spent 20 minutes looking for it. I don't know what to tell you. I told him he could post his work. I don't know if it was a first post, or a post in a thread. Sorry!

Do you remember the name of the product? Was it Depco or spelled some other way?

That name does not ring a bell. I remember an exchange as to telling him he was able to post. I don't remember any name brand, more the fact that it was sheets?

I'm not sure if this helps but there is a "Depco" in Australia that has something to do with resin impregnated decor paper.

Information about them is hard to find, good luck.

That's a start, and you're right, information is scare. I prefer the KISS (Keep it simple stupid) rule. I guess really though, it's whatever floats you boat, and plastic works good for that. I have a rowboat I made almost 27 years ago, floated in water many times. I also dipped it crazy glue before I painted it. It is still hard as a rock! :)

Thanks guys, finally found Depco by looking down under and working north. It is Depco and covered by two or more Aussie patents. Looks like it is unavailable here or anywhere except the down under folks.

Just as well, from what I read, I don't think it will last long, or if it does, not here.

Thanks for your effort and help. You really helped me here. I had a thought about testing Depco for another application instead of papermodels, but after research, it probably would not have worked.

As usual, the forum came through!

Cheers

If you are still interested in the product I could try to contact them for a data sheet or if we are lucky we could end up with a sample.:thumb:

Quite frankly, I would love that. However, I hesitate to burden you with that effort. It would be a time consuming job to chase that down and then you have the extra cost of postage. At this time, it would be for satisfying my want to know, I don't think it would further my other project.

Therefore, at this time, just drop the idea; however, if I can help you in any way, feel free to call on me.

If you haven't tried my website (http://modelsnmoore.com), the go and get yourself some free papermodels.

Thanks so much,
