SR2 Normandy Design and Build - continued

Mass effect 2: Cerberus built the Normandy with yellow accents, Mass effect 3: Alliance commandeered the Normandy and repainted it with blue accents.

Ah! That clears it up. Thank you. I was thinking Cerberus was the name of a ship and that there were two different ships.

Awsome work, I may have missed it, but what is the final size of the model?
Looking forward to building it.

The finished model will be about 24 inches in total length, which given the sizes provided ini a recent post makes it that always desirable scale of 1:354. If people would like a more common scale like 1:400, or 1:200 it's not too late, although it could cause some issues. Everything has been designed around a paper thickness of .3 mm and changing the scale might throw off some formers, and other areas where I've used layering.

This thing is looking so cool! I really need to play this game . . .

Hay SJS, I saw this fighter in the advertisement for ME3; I have no idea what class it is, but I was wondering if you would be willing to consider modeling it. It would make a great companion to the Normandy.

Do you mean this one? Anthony344 sent me the mesh for this, as well as a battle cruiser (both from ME3) that looks great too. I won't make any promises, as I have many, many projects on my list, but they interest me a lot, so that improves the chances.

If only paper modelling paid the bills.....

I wish more people would realize this.

Well if no one like the spoiler for the ending of the game, then change it to this one..."The butler did it!"
Problem solved!!!! sign1

@anthony344

I hope you are just being funny and your comments are not true ......... you should have used the spoiler alert tag or something .............. :inmew:

There are others such as myself who have not yet finished ME3.

Yeh i know my bad tooth1 , i might use my bad kitty pic next time. sign1

Sorry if i went over board bragging with ME3 if others have not finish the game but i still love the game soo much.

I *think* that's the one! It's the one in the commercial where the little blond kid picks up a toy starfighter and then a flight of real fighters fly overhead. I am almost certain this is the same one; the engines are similar to the Normandy's and it has a 'forked' appearance top-down.

Hey, I had forgotten about that one! Hmmmmmm. I may have to do a small scale one to go with the SR2. We need something to put in the landinig bay.

1 of these goes in the landing bay http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/UT-47_Kodiak_Drop_Shuttle no fighters I'm afraid. Building thunderchild's model of this right now, it could probably be scaled down to match with the sr2's size. It's not as cool as the mako but I always liked the design.... even though the front mounted engines make it look like it's scooting around the galaxy looking for a hug :)

Well, in the game maybe, but out here my Normandy can carry whatever I want it to.

Of course, a couple of fighters as escorts, and a shuttle or Mako in the bay works too.

Small update

And by the way...

I'm busily working on unfolding the wings and engines and making adjustments to the model to make the unfolding/building smoother. The shapes of the wing and major engine pieces make the unfold kind of screwy - small cuts and fold needed in awkward places and stuff like that. Wherever I can I'll adjust the model to compensate for, or eliminate those kinds of problems. Often what seemed like a good idea while editing the 3D model doesn't look like such a good idea when you unfold it and look at how you'll have to build it.

More to come...

Here's a good one for your Normandy to carry in the cargo bay i seen it in ME3 Normandy it a KEI-9 dog mech it's funny as it sniff chemical trails & sniff 750volt outlets.

i had to ripped him out from the game to get a closer view of it but it too funny to look at.

also thanks for the update steve.:thumb:

I've gotta have one of those in my ship. Please send me the mesh and textures. And that frigate you sent me looks great by the way.

I'm still working on the unfold and refining the mesh. I've found a number of texture problems, and some intersections I missed. The shape of some of the main engine parts leads to some tricky unfolding. Tricky in the sense of trying to achieve a balance between ease-of-building, and good results.

It will be another challenge entirely trying to do the instructions.

Bye for now.

I am looking forward to this Real Normandy project too (from France :p)
I just begun making the Kodiak Drop Shuttle to warm me up before going for the SR1 Normandy.
