Engine sections

Here are the engine sections. Everything went together quite easily.
Here are the photos.

ENGINE PLACEMENT.jpg
Here is where all of the detail (that I mentioned when I was working on the wing mounts) goes.
The only problem that I had was I looked like there were suppose to be four pieces of part 74, but there were only two. I just put one on either engine.

Just to give you an idea of just how big this thing is. My cutting mat is A3 format.

I always wondered why Imperial technology never got more aerodynamic than World War II.

Definitely a cool plane, though. (Or are they spaceworthy? I'm a little vague on the details of the 40K universe)

Probably for the same reason the F4 Phantom flies, if you put a big enough motor on it, it will fly, or go through the air anyways. I think there is just a lot of Steampunk fun going on.

Engine air intake assemblies

Here are the engine intake assemblies.
YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE TWO COPIES OF PARTS SHEETS 11 & 12 TO GET ALL OF THE PARTS (77, 78,79, 79A, 79B, & 80) YOU NEED FOR THESE COMPONENTS! THERE ARE ONLY TWO PER SHEET AND YOU NEED FOUR OF EACH!
Here are the photos.

IMAG0191.jpg
Here I had to remake part 78 by hand (with glue tabs), because the part in the kit did not fit properly. I used the same width of the original part 78, then took the measurements of part 77 for length of the panels for part 78.

IMAG0192.jpg
Here you can see that parts 77 hides the glue tabs on parts 78.

Wings are now finished

I have finished the wings and mounted them in place.
I did not have any problems. Everything was very straight forward.

Finished

I have finished the Marauder Destroyer.
I attached the landing gear. I did run into a couple small snags, but I was able to fix them.

LANDING GEAR.jpg
According to the directions, part 90* is used to raise part 92 to the same level with part 93. Unfortunately, part 90* is just a small flat sheet.
To get the desired effect, you will have to either make a box or laminate several sheets together.

IMAG0208.jpg
Here I had to laminate part 90* to the thickness of part 92 to help hold it in place.

IMAG0209.jpg
Landing gear is in place.

IMAG0210.jpg
Close up of rear landing gear.

IMAG0211.jpg
I had to build a box under the front landing gear to make it the same level as the rear landing gear.

Thank you for all of the kind words and encouragement along the way.

If I do it again, (at this point, I am unsure if I will or not) I will import it into paint fix all of the problems, add even more greebles, and recolour it.

I would like to sit down with the original designer and Armorman and redo the whole kit and fix everything that is wrong with it and then have Armorman make new instructions for it

ARMORMAN is a really easy person to work with, you will find that out for yourself. :)

Armorman was the one who asked be to do this build thread and point out all of the problems that I found with it.
I know that he is an easy person to work with. He is a very nice guy indeed. I had made the comment more about having the designer and Armorman in the same room and work side by side with both of them to redo this model.

Thank you for the compliments. Unfortunately though, I really know nothing about the game (other then it is very popular).
I originally built this for a friend. When I first built it I found that it has quite a few problems. I started this thread to point out the porblems and to offer my solutions for those problems.
If you are interested in this (and other 40k Warhammer models, contact ARMORMAN. He started a thread (on this forum) that hosts a large variety of different 40k models.

Good luck with it and I look forward to seeing your work.
