Great work as always.

I'm just wondering have you used up a printer yet printing all this out. I know that cartridges can get ate up pretty quickly but I'm thinking you may also be going through printers too to keep up the accuracy?

Hello John and all there
Thanks for that link. I watched many times.
Well I'm back to again after a few months no any update report here. Yesterday just continued to build drive wheels and brake link.

Hi there

I have less time for hobby in recently. I've missed my model and all on my fans here. Actually I've done side rods and other link parts since a month ago. Wish to finish all driving unit before Christmas. I spent whole of this weekend to Big Boy. Unfortunately I can't finish this unit as I wished. Anyway hope this update report is not too late to be a Christmas gift for you all.

Merry Christmas

I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with this design/build. You are incredibly talented, and I thank you for allowing us to follow your art. Put my name on the list when this goes up for sale.

Hi there
Finished driving units. With the experience at front engine , I could assembly with less error.
I tried doing oil dirty to the side rods and all aluminium colored parts. I found a picture of Challenger (restored 3985) which is a good source for weathering Big Boy. Oil dirty performs aluminium parts looked better solidity than the plain aluminium surface. I will do to the front engine's too when final weathering.

Cheers

I am going to build next parts. The ash pans. Big Boy's fire box is large as much as the body. There are 2 ash pans with 3 ash doors at the bottom. 1 in the front and 2 in the back. Three of them are manipulated by 3 wheel handles near the ash pans which I will build in later.
I filled details of hinges for all side doors. I think these doors are for cleaning or maintenance.

I'm no train expert but seeing where they are located, do you think they may be for dropping ash on the rails to get more friction? This is just a wild guess on my part.

You're train absolutely stunning. I have never seen a model of a train so detailed anywhere. I have seen miniature trains that actually work, but due to scaling, they don't even look like this. Incredible!:thumb:

Hello Zathros
Me too not a train expert. I guessed it was for that. I was looking for many pictures and videos to find out how they used that ash pans' side doors. But still unknown what they're for.
Thank for you kind words to the details on my model. Detailing takes much research and create time. Thanks for all fans' patient waiting.

O

not for dumping ash on rail, there are sand domes and lines ahead of drivers for that. Probably for better cleaning of fire box. Will have t check my references.
