Miniature Birdhouse

I’ve been kicking this idea around for a while.
Every where I go I see birdhouses of different shapes
and sizes. Most are some part of décor made for indoor
use. With this in mind I started to try and figure out what
scale to use and what size an actual birdhouse is. Realizing
it doesn’t matter as long as it’s proportionate I remembered
an N scale house I had designed that has a module that
would work just fine with a little editing. Designed
In Photo Shop it was easy to turn off layers containing
windows, doors and etc., add an entrance hole and stretch
the roof detail for overhang in front and back.

After assembly I add a perch made from a toothpick
inserted through a small hole and glued to the inside back.

The shepherd’s hook is made of floral wire formed around
the top of a spray adhesive can. The bottom can be left long for flower pots/floral arrangements or bent into a base as a stand. The hanger is also made from the same wire and catches under the over hang. Could be mounted on a bamboo skewer inserted through bottom and glued to
inside top.

These are fun and easy to make, can be made from any
Heavy paper and decorated to your taste. Have fun and enjoy.
Measurements are .900X.900X1.300 at peak or any size
you want to make them.

These are just to cute. My mom would love them, she is a bird watcher and collects bird houses. I know she would love to have an arrangement of them done running down the side of the rock fireplace.

Wow, those are really nice. Some of the bird from Canon or Yamaha Papercraft, would look great cozying up to those. You would have to reduce the scale, but they are really nice displays.

Those are really nice and look almost to easy. Wife enjoys birdhouses spread around the house. These will fit in just fine since she does not birds messing them up.

Thanks for sharing. These are so cute and I definitely would like to have some of them in my garden. I think I would decorate them with flowers because I love fresh flowers. Sometimes I send flowers to UK and I think I will order also some for me and then decorate them. Hopefully I can build such miniature birdhouses on my own.

Those Java Sparrows are very nice. There is a rather large birdcage at the nursing home where my grandmother lives. I've been making some of these birds and leaving them on shelves, by the goldfish pond (indoors) and in the plants in the day room. People love them. They also have a blank template, so the next project is painting a few up to look like birds from the cage. They would probably be a bit fiddly to build at this scale, though. At least for me

That is so cool of you! :thumb: People sometimes don't realize how much people appreciate these types of gifts, and they are more than gestures, they are precious gifts. Very cool! :)

I think I need to get good with a graphics program again. The one I did this week I painted with watercolor to look like one of the birds in the aviary. If I had done it on computer, I could do several quite easily. eh, but painting was kinda fun, too.

Painting gives a texture that printing just can't do. Printing really looks flat when you get close to stuff. It's kind of been bothering me lately. I remember when I used to hand pain and use Sharpies to color in Papermodels. Sure is convenient though.

Have you tried doing it in Paint? You can print to file, or press "PrintScreen" then open Pain and press "Paste" and go from there.
