We may be able to do more than one dimple at a time but I can't help think about weight. Its more work to do them individually but it makes sence from a shape standpoint and for weight. I'll grab some blackk posterboard this afternoon and do one by hand to see how it comes out. I need to run now but I'll e-mail you some PDF's of CAD drawings for shingle layouts later today.

Scott

Damn....Another project....but at least its Mercury!

Now, come on, that is just an original panel you somehow stole out of a capsule in a museum somewhere. (-;

I'll absolutely have to second Mike in screaming this is freaking cool.

I agree, this is really cool, I've been trying to talk myself into building the 1/4 scale version which looks to be a pretty big job but nothing like what you are doing. You are doing great work!!

Scott Question is this where the handle support goes in relationship to the small bulkhead .I want the snorkles to be in the right postion and the handle is to the rigth of the ship.Picture 159.jpg

WOW....That thing is huge. Outstanding. One thing I havent figured out, it's suposed to be an excape hatch, but looking at the capsule interrior it seems the pilot would need to remove the teliscope and intrument pannel to access it. Better not be in a hurry to excape.

I think from what I read.The panel that I have removable was removed and placed on the seat to gain access to the hatch.Also this hatch was access at splash down.And the area to escape was only the size taken up by the main chutes.Very small space in deed.If this is incorrect please correct this statement.

As far as I know you are correct, PaperAir. There had to be some panel removal before the astronaut could reach the hatch. This also was small and there had to be pushed some stuff out before he could squeeze himself out of the top. (dinghy and survival kit, I suppose)
When doing this, the top of the capsule almost touched the water.

And further I'd like to say hat an enourmous and great build this is. That hatch looks awesome in that size. Just.. just wow.

That is Awsome there PK! Great photos, truly a tight squeeze, your knowledge of the space program is impressive, I'm beggining to think if you weren't apart of the space program then you are deffinantly a true space program Zealot
