hey silver, you ever bloomin SLEEP????
lol , looks awesome though , some great detail work there

I usually get four hours sleep and a power nap during the day and then I am good to go. Now on this project... I started on something that I thought would not take too long, BOY! was I wrong. Jan made so many possible details in his drawings that they just keep coming out at me. Every time I want to build as is, I see the possibilities of more details and there I go trying to make it happen. Who ever decides to build this project, if you build as is, it is still makes a fantastic diorama, but the details move it to the next level. Enjoy and see you all around the forums.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and to all a good night.

Well back to this started out small project turned into an undertaking. This Radar Communications array has more pieces than the Cheyenne with the added on parts. Some of the pieces I broke into sections to represent indents and for ease of lamination and strength. The white add-ons were painted to match the model as well as possible.

The side boxes for the Communications array are laminated on critical areas to avoid the crush effect. I could add more detail but these are enough I believe.

Still more stuff on the Radar communications array. I framed the array, and placed the electrical wiring in. It is a shame that I went though this, because later on in the build, all of this will be covered up, but at least we will know that it is there.

Still more on that Communications array. Not shown in the swivel stand, is that it is heavily laminated internally. This will help in holding up the radar array. and withstand the constant handling of the moving radar. If you are electronically inclined, you can also make this radar array movable. There is enough space in the cavity for motors and switches.

Nice tuning:thumb: ....the Up-link antenna looks amazing

This is looking very impressive. I think I might try some of your mods when I make the landing pad.....

Thank you for the vote of confidence Jan. It would not have been possible without your artistic designs. I just enhanced them a little bit.

Thanks for the comment Jetman. This build thread is for the benefit of those who come next to build their version. I expect that there will be more better and fantastic build to follow my steps.

The communications array is almost done with two more structures to build. Her is the array in different movable positions. The power generator building was easy to do. It is built the same as the containers, but some added details.

Superb stuff, silveroxide! This is a cracking piece of work and getting better and better with each new post. Looking forward very much to seeing the whole dio together.
Are you going to include some figures as well or just have the hardware as it is?

I am glad that you like the details Noddy. The model is on a short halt due to red tape for a pending contract but I will get back to it before I deploy. It is almost finished and I may have to skimp on some extra details for the fueling station. As for figures, I have been considering some modern warfare 1/72 figures but that may also be on hold depending on my time restrain. Enjoy and see you all soon around the forums.

So here I go with a few more updates. The power generator received its share of greebles, now it does not look just like box.

The first stage of the leg support was heavily laminated. I could have detailed it but decided to keep as is for strength and stability. The base plate was detailed but that was done somewhere in the beginning of the thread.

Enjoy and see you all around the forums and the next update.

Continuing with more updates on the fuel tower. I added a few wires and pipes to the tower. On the arms, to make them more sturdy, I laminated the sides, cut out the black slots, and extended the arms so as to be able to insert it into the attachment locations, which I cut out for this purpose. Just a few more photos of the Tower and the final photos will come shortly. There is an antenna tower which is not depicted in the schematics which I will place on the tower.

Here are the final photos. Kudos to Jan for his fantastic designs, and to you fellow hobbyist in your comments and support. By far, this is one of my longest running threads, but that is due to the abundance of models for this project. Each individual accessory is a model upon itself and you can say that it was a multi build thread. I placed that unknown antenna on the fuel tower, maybe later on Jan can redirect the location for it. I twas fun building it and there are more details that can be added to it, like grounding wires/cables, wires, pipes and debri around the connex areas. Missing are the ground and marine personnel but I leave that up to the next adventurer who should decide to tackle a build thread. Again, Thanks JAN. Enjoy and see you all around the forums.

It is an amazing diorama, and deserves its own showcase. To start with such brilliant models and then detail them to a level of excellence is the work of an artist. I always enjoy watching your builds silver!

Thank you!

Thank you Sean for you comments. The only drawback, is that I did not expect the size of the build. I used a pretty good size foam board and it is too small for all of the accessories. The base is too cluttered. Also, I did not textured the base outside of the landing grid. I should have painted the edge black or gotten a foam board in black. Maybe sometime in the future, I may return to it and add the figures and debri and a larger base for it, but at the moment space is at a premium. Enjoy and see you all around the forums.
