If I may inject a little constructive criticism:

The eye looks off somehow. I think it sticks out too far and the lens is too small (I'm a droid builder, and I've done quite a bit of research on ol' Artoo, so this stuff tends to stick out to my eye).

Stormtrooper...I found this on paper-replika.com. It's a fairly simple build. All the pieces that make the dome are connected on the print out but to make it look good I cut all of them apart glued in strips of paper as backing so the seems would be smoother, and you can get a better curve shape on the dome.

Millennium....Im not quite sure which eye you're talking about, if you mean the large eye with the blue frame around it you may be right its all one piece, I just built the kit as it came out of the printer, I didn't change any of the pieces.

Thanks rysjin, I'm not much on building R2s but when I saw the graffics on this model I coundn't resist. The photo of this model on the kit looks like it was thrown together, I took that as a challenge. I'm mostly into rocket building, but I don't want to be restricted to any single catagory of models, that gets boring, but I do tend to stick to si-fi and space craft stuff.

I was referring to the big blue box on the side of the dome, known as the "main radar eye" in the blueprints, but I had assumed you were the designer. :eek:ops: My bad! It's a pretty clean build, and painting the dome silver was a nice touch. :thumb:

juntopi.....it's on pg 2 of this forum, the last I read was a guy working on the design, putting out feelers to see if anyone would be interested in building one in 1 to 1 scale. The title of the thread is R2D2 pep build.

Mellinneum...actually it's not paint, it's a metallic silver sharpy, I have found them to be a great tool in paper...by the way, I do like the name...mellinneumFALSEHOOD, I am curious to how you came up with it.

rysjyn....I used to do some flying rocketry too, the largest I launched was a 1/56 scale atlas...it crashed and burned on it's maiden flight, it looked just like one of the atlas crashes from one of the old nasa film footages. This was 10 yrs ago,I still have the rocket it servived in one piece.

Well I used to be the world's greatest liar . . .

Kidding!!

Actually the name is from when I first joined up with Starship Modeler. The Millennium Falsehood is a doppelganger Millennium Falcon that Rogue Squadron had built from an old junker YT-1300 in order to sneak the Solo family past the Imperial Star Destroyer Implacable. They had just finished putting the finishing touches on it when Han Solo dropped by to see how they were doing. As soon as he caught sight of it he started picking it apart: there was only one gun turret, the sensor rectenna was too small, the rust was too heavy in this spot and that one, etc. Wedge Antilles tried to explain to him that it only needed to *appear* to be the Millennium Falcon, but Solo still wasn't satisfied. He did think it would be a good way to placate the curator of the Galactic Museum of Military History who kept trying to get Solo to donate the Falcon. At least, that's the way I remember it from when I read X-wing: Solo Command. I need to re-read that book.

Anyway, that's kind of the way I am when I see a model: I just start picking it apart in my head. Sometimes I just can't keep from letting a modeler know that I see a mistake or two, and I try to keep my comments as constructive as possible.

I see.....I thought, judging by you're edit signature my be it had something to do with the religous philosophical overtones of the movie. May the force be with you....and all that.

Wow!! That's a really nice looking R2! If the Dome and Body are any indication of how the rest will look, you'll have really made one awesome R2!! :)
