That's amazing! I personally prefer the older 40k models. Tried building a rhino years ago but I had neither the patience nor knowledge back then. May have to give it another go now.

Now if only old-school Tyranids were paper-craftable >.<

Thanks for the comments. I am glad that you have enjoyed this build. If only one person is pleased with it, then the work was worth the build.

Somewhere there is a paper model of the Soldier bugs from Star Ship Troopers. This beast can be incorporated into the Tyranid Hive.

ALY: I am glad that you like this version.

Since I made this one, I have learned a few more techniques and they are getting better. I may make one later for the sister of battle but it will be in the 'Warhammer armor and things thread.' This one has five road wheels and I have been contemplating an inside cabin build some time in the future.

I love this model! I'm going to try Patoroch's template when building mine. You can never have enough rhinos :)

Space Marine armor rules. I do like the feel of the Warhammer armor, that is all of the races included. Patoroch has a mine of armor. I am waiting for a wave serpent some day as well as a thunderhawk done by him.

Silveroxide - GREAT work!! one more question - how do you paint and weather a paper model? Is there a thread for that, or is there a simple and quick answer?

Thanks.

I spray paint it with automotive primer. In this case I used the gray but for blood angels, I would have used a red primer. Once that is done, I paint it like I would a regular plastic model. in some cases like in my chimera, the model is already colored. I then color the edges and give it a soft wash of brown to give it a slight dirty look.:wave::wave:

I am very glad to hear about the auto primer - that IS simple! (I've been usin' the stuff for years rather than the more expensive "official hobby primers.") Time to warm up the printer!!

Thanks again!

The auto primer has an added bonus, in that it becomes a sealant and stops any overcoat from soaking in and gives the paint a good platform for placing water base decals. If you build the ready colored versions, spray it with automotive clear coat and it will protect the color from running when placing the water transfer decals.:wave:

You are welcome. Glad that you enjoyed the build. There is more of that stuff if you have not seen my other builds. By the way, love your stuff over at Dakka-Dakka. See you around the forum.

silveroxide, love the work as always....You can also use clear lacquer(sp??) before you prime it. I layer mine a few coats deep in it then use the $0.99 Color Palace/Place paint from Wal-Mart. has a good bite to it, good coverage, doesn't hide detail and is considerably cheaper than GW "official" primer. perfect match for Chaos Black and their white covers 10x faster than the skull white prime

I just love your Rhino, but I feel it's a bit wide, maybe it's just my bad memory.. I remember back when i bought my first GW Rhino £5!

Sometimes it seems like the A-4 printout is sometimes a tad too big, Use your printer options and reduce it to about 80% and it should come out alright. If you should make my super Chimera in the future, it is scaled to about 1/35 scale which you will have to reduce it to 80% also.
