Is the piping on the texture or is it a separate part?
If it's separate and If I understand the top pic correctly the left and right sides are identical so the piping shouldn't be different...
If it's part of the texture like in the bottom pic, then why not just duplicate and mirror the two correct segments over the wrong ones?

Then again maybe I'm completely off base and just hit my own name with a 2X4... :D

No problem, SJS. Just shift the whole frame down one section, cut the bottom-most one, then copy it to the top. After that, delete the original cross-members and then rebuild them so that the entire assembly is one piece. Am I making sense or is this muddying the waters? :eek:ops:

Agricultural Ship Finished

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. It wasn't really a case of how to do it, just that I had missed it and needed to redo a bunch of work. The piping is a separate piece (not part of the texture), but I had two versions - a simple flat version, and a 3D version made of a zillion tiny tubes. I included that one just for those people crazy enough to try building it. sign1

Anyway, the ship is done and has been submitted to the downloads section. As soon as the moderator approves it it will be available.

Enjoy.

P.S. According to my notes I still have to resolve a few issues reported on other models in this series, but other than that I am now declaring this project complete. All of the ships contained in the original ship pack we started from are either done, or are available from other designers. There was discussion in the past about doing a detailed Viper and a larger Pegasus as was done for Galactica in this thread.

At present I have no plans to tackle those projects. It's taken a lot for me to just keep at these ships, and to get this far, and now it's time for me to let it go. I've yet to even build one of these ships!

Anyway, Enjoy everyone!

Steve

Hey Venom_82, glad you found us. There's plenty here to keep you building for a while.

Speaking of which, I have just uploaded version 2 of the Mining Ship. It will be available in the downloads as soon as the moderator approves it.

The new version corrects a couple issues identified by Nothing in his test build, corrects some texture problems, and I have simplified some of the parts to make them easier to build.

It was interesting going back to one of the models I did a long time ago and having another go at it with my present level of experience. I found lots of things that I do a lot better now than I did back then.

I will be releasing updated versions of the Geminon Traveller and Tube ships as well to correct problems reported in those. If you have built any of the ships in this series and found issues, or wish something had been done differently please let me know about it.

Enjoy,

Steve

Thanks again for this interesting info.. and for the new version of the mining ship.

In the past days i have read te entire topic, from page 1 to 73 :D and i found a lot of interesting things.. i write again: great job :thumb:

For now, i have downloaded the models, and i try to make space in my home for the fleet
When i'm ready, in the coming days, i start building. Probably the first model is the liner/olympic carrier (regular version) :thumb:

obviously i want to build all the model, including the 3 ft Galactica, but first i have to buy the right paper for this large ship (i have read your post about this ;) )

Anyway, surely for any model i post here my feedbacks and image ;)

Ok, i've started the building of the Olympic Carrier.

It's the "regular" version, just to start to build a fleet ship and make more pratice (and i need a lot of pratice :mrgreen: to improve my "noob-level" skill ) but i want to build also the big version of the liner (my hands is too big for the regular version sign1) and possibly, the other liveries: coxxon, pan galactic, etc). :thumb:

For this model i've used a 170 g/m2 matte paper.

World Premiere: New paper model from BSG ship pack

 Howdee, folks! Hello sjsquirrel, hello nothing, hello skupilkinson! Finally I've arrived here.

First of all I must thank all of you for developing these fantastic paper models of the rag-tag fleet. Since I am a big BSG fan and I needed some practice in 3D modeling and unfolding, I took some of the BSG ship pack vessels and experimented with them.

I can give you a revised version of the Tubeship (44 cm long / no intersections any more, thread here:
http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168790 ),
a Colonial One in three different sizes (50 cm / 75 cm / 100 cm) and an all new paper model: the Pylon Vessel (25 cm, thread here:
http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?p=914764 ),
available exclusively here on zealot.com!

Colonial One is cleaned up and unfolded, but the parts still need some tweaking and a test build must be made. The others will be available in the download section soon (I hope).

Is anyone working on the Pegasus? When will she be ready?

Geminon Traveller R2

Hello all,

Release 2 of he Geminon Traveller has been submitted to the downloads and will appear as soon as a moderator approves it.

This version corrects some fit/alignment problems in the nose of the ship, and the unfold and layout has been improved somewhat. Hopefully the resulting model will be improved as well.

In the original release I mistakenly called this the Gemini Traveler. I have corrected this naming error as well. I'm surprised no one pointed it out.

If you actually build this I would love to hear feedback so I know I've corrected the previous problems, and in case I've introduced new ones.

I have finished the revisions to the 3D model of the tube ship and can now start unfolding it. I hope to have it finished by the end of this year, but at the rate I've been going, don't hold your breath. Besides, Revell-Fan has produced another version of the tube ship so what's my hurry?

Enjoy!

Glowing engines for Colonial Defender

I noticed that the Defender doesn't come with activated engines. So I recolored parts 8b and 9b. Enjoy! (I hope this improves this wonderful model, I don't want to insult anyone; so if anyone wants the .zip removed, just give me a note.)

P.S.: To all who are in the mood for some classic BSG: David Kerin has released "The Adama Journals, Part 1". It is a CG production like "The Clone Wars", set in the past of the classic BSG (feat. "classic" classic Raiders and one of the best battlestar CG models I have ever seen). Just check it out on www.battlestarfanfilms.com and get ready for some "Zap!"'s and "Kawoom!"'s!

Hey Revell-Fan,

Those patterns look oddly familiar

I'm finishing up my revised tubeship pattern, then I will be redoing and re-releasing the Galactica with all the patches that were done. Other than that I have no plans to work on any of the other ships for now, so go ahead with any of them and don't worry about me. I was hoping that someday others would pick up the torch on this project and keep it going until all of the ships are done. Thanks for stepping up.

:wave::wave::wave: Greetings from Germany! :wave::wave::wave:

Thanks, Steve, for the kind words; I'll do my best!

Glad that you picked up the Galactica again. When building her, I noticed a slight error in the 3D model: The inner and outer walls of the landing bays are curved in the same degree. On Zoic's model the outer walls are curved stronger than the inner ones. The bays of Jay's Galactica come much closer to the original than Coxxon's. I am wondering if you could adjust the inner formers so that the bays may look a bit better. I'm preparing some pics to show you what I mean.

CU!

P.S.: Colonial One is a TREAT; I hope all the parts will fit .....

I'll have a look at the pictures when you get them ready and see what I can do. It will be some time before I get to that puppy anyway. Life has been very busy lately and I've not had a lot of time/energy for model work.

Just take your time, Steve!

This is what I mean: The landing bays are curved too much.

I had a lot of trouble assembling the bays, too, because the hull tends to bend easily when you wrap it around the formers.

Is there a way to adapt the formers so that the bays become a bit more edged (like Jay's) and to split the bays into several separate segments to make assembly easier?

Don't get me wrong - this is the best paper model of the new Galactica in the world. However, even the best things may become better.

P.S.: Great job on the Geminon Traveller! The layout looks much cleaner now. Nice to see that you made her a bit larger, too. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

P.P.S.: The Tubeship and the Pylon Vessel are definitely canon ships. You see both ships in the second half of the mini-series when the Cylon Raider spots the human fleet right before the jump to Ragnar station. The Tubeship is floating in the middle of the frame when the Gemini freighter enters from the right, the Pylon Vessel is seen a bit left from the middle of the frame when the ships jump to Ragnar. I guess both ships were originally designed by Lee Stringer.

Unfortunately, these are the only pics that I could find that contained any level of decent detail. I hope it is enough.
