I don't know about JSC but Halinski i think they are did a 1/200 and a 1/300 scale kit full hull. I know not a thing about the 200 scale but the 1/300 was a lovely kit I managed to get the hull, superstructure and forward turret done on her in a matter of a few weeks in order to show my Father, I binned it the same day as he passed away without finishing it. Thanks to http://www.marcle.co.uk/cataloguehome.html some years ago I managed to get it again but have never had the heart to build her, keep looking but never cutting shame to have her go to waste, she's in the post to you now enjoy me old mate
Phil.
Phil... It's rare for me to become speechless {as you know with our chats} ! but this is a most beautiful thing you are doing and i am very honoured that you want me to build this ! infact i'm very moved by it indeed. I built the Titanic in memory of my wifes Great Grandfather so if it's o.k with you, i will build your WARSPITE in memory of YOUR FATHER, i just hope i can do the model justice. You are a SPECIAL friend that's for sure. Thanks Phil. Regards your old mate Pete.

Thank you thats why I kept buying the kit and also why it kept ending up in the bin. He was a ex soldier,1946 Malaysia and ex ploughman using Shires. He spent about 150 years working his way through Reeds Paper Mill until redundancy when he had fun working in a warehouse as a order picker, he liked not having to worry about anything. He was just starting to enjoy his retirement at the end. He was born in Margate which is where the love of ships comes in, a big fan of the Tall Ships it is my hope to build a stupidly big model of one when everything else is sorted. HMS Warspite was a favourite of his and I tried hard to get the old girl built in time. I had only just found the wonders of card models then had I got a few more years with him I think he would of been fed up with the sight of ships!. The picture is of my Dad during his Triffid wrestling period.
Cheers Mate Phil

Loved the last pic of your dad, and I do remember that movie, one of my favorites. Seems like I might be a day short to put forth a two cents worth, but after seeing your work, I for one, would love to see what you would do with the HMS Repulse from Gremir. This is one impressive kit and I feel if done with care, would build into a museum piece. And yes, I do intend to add to my growing collection of WWII BB's. I know I might be dreaming, but if done at 1/100th, WOW, and only a few I am aware of could pull it off, and you my friend would be one of them.

Hi Phil. Your dad was what i call a proper Man doing proper jobs in a world that was once great and not pretencious. You must miss him dearly my friend, i miss my parents and always will {my dad was a prisoner of war in Japan} and then in the lace trade for the rest of his days. Like the picture mate, and yes i remember the film also {the false teeth clacking sound they made still makes for a good laugh}. Well as i said before, i will do my very best to make your model {i will give it my best shot} and the thread i put up will be in memory of your Dad - it's the least i can do for a good mate like you. Just one more thing... i would like to say that another of our good friends of this thread recently lost his father {i wont say who, but you probably know by p/m} and i know he had a hard time over it - my thoughts are with you too friend ! Regards to you Phil and thanks again for what you have done. Your old pal Pete.

Hi all, It's ironic that our fathers have come up in this thread, in all my years of p*****c modelling my dad used to go mad about all the bits and pieces I used to leave every where:eek:ops:, but the one and only model he ever let me have on display was the Airfix Warspite. When i built her i showed him the exploits of the Warspite and he was really impressed. she was also the pinnacle of my old modelling days I was really proud of her:mrgreen:.As my father passed away so recently, seeing the Warspite built by such an expert will bring back some fond memories:thumb:. But untill then, pull your finger out Petesign1 were waiting for more progress on the Tirpitz
All the best

Hi there my friend. Our fathers have been here with us all the time !, i don't know what mine would think of this world of paper models - He was a P*****C modeller as too was i for many years, and i always built them with him in mind... he was one hell of a model maker, the art of the P*****C models is in the paint work, and boy could he paint. I always looked to him as the modeller to set stall by, if he was pleased with what i'd made then i was REALLY pleased with it. I would never go back to that kind of modelling again, the paper models are made from FLAT paper which requires a great deal of work to make it 3D and come to life. Thanks to the guys who makes it all possible with their painstaking work at the computer and all the information they have to collect before they can get started on the design. I wish i had this skill and i would dearly like to produce my own kits to give away for others to enjoy. I don;t mind what a kit costs me because i know how much work goes into it and the time and pleasure i get building them really does outway the cost. I have made good headway on the Tirpitz, and shall post again real soon. Take care Mick. Your friend Pete

Can't wait for the postman to knock on the door with the model you've sent - then we will be off to start a new thread. You take care. Talk or mail soon. Your old mate Pete.

Mick I believe at one time in the UK it was a legal requirment to have the Airfix HMS Warspite

I lost my Father about 14 years ago now and I still not only miss him but on occasion go to phone him about a programme thats on or to ask how to fix something, it does sting a bit when I realise what I'm doing but it does lead me to remember the many adventures we had. Look to the good times it helps and keeps him with you.
All the best Phil

Here is the conclusion to The MIGHTY TIRPITZ

Hi there shipmates. Sorry for the delay - had a bad night last night and just got up and running on the pics. I know the scene isn't set up properly, but i just wanted to get the pics taken of her while i felt upto it. I hope you like the end result guys - i think i'm getting better at making these ships now - a wee bit more to them than some others i have made. When i can afford it, i will buy some etched rails for her to finish her off properly. All the best. Regards Pete.

Hi guys, she's a real beauty Pete, glad there are no 617 squadron Lancasters flying aboutsign1. I have tried a couple of JSC's RN ships but with my big sausage fingers, your Tirpitz puts them to shame . keep up the great work mate and can't wait for the next installment.

All the best

Hi there Mick. If i could get the Lancasters for the scene i would - JOKE ! sign1Glad you are pleased with my build my friend. I don't have what you can call thin fingers, so when the parts get too small to handle i use two pairs of tweezers - try that way Mick, i'm sure you'll do fine, don't give up and if a part goes wrong just reprint and start again {i scan the original for just incase this happens}. Happy modelling mate. All the best. Your friend Pete. :thumb:

Great job Pet:thumb:. I was at one time not a fan of waterline anything, then I begin to see the outstanding builds and almost all of WH great kits are waterline. After seeing your great build, I am more and more inclined to build waterline as well. Rick

The oh so TINY Arado

As per my good mate Phil's request... a CLOSE-UP of the Arado. This is as close as my camera's macro would let me go {approx 1" from the plane} The build of this isn't perfect, but it's as good as i could make it with failing eye's and two pairs of tweezers. All the best to you my friend. Regards Pete.
