You are a braver man than I and more able too. My HMS Alert has stalled but Cleopatra is sure to inspire.

Keep them coming.

Thanks Guys!!
This is a great kit and a fun project, but is requiring me to study since have been doing aircraft for 10 years. I wish I could see Larry Maxwell's build do any of you have any pictures saved of that one? I am posting at a couple forums as will need help with the masting and rigging although am learning and have been studying for weeks. Building my own cannon and blocks, so using more wood and line than card I think from now on.

Help?! I've been looking for those pics for months! I'd come over there and give you a hug if it was ok with my wife, well thankful handshake anyhow, many thanks Elliott!:thumb:

Glad it helped Birder. Virtual hugs are OK I suppose if both our wives are looking over our shoulders.

Right, but seriously this is very helpful! The options are wide open for making a "museum quality" ship model, a hull model or a simpler ship model. Any way you do it since the fit is terrific the results can be satisfying I think.

Here's where she sits at present. Would like to rig guns but waiting for blocks to arrive to see if they may be small enough to use for the gun tackle. will be making eye bolts large ones for the bolt rope and lots of little ones. Can use the eyebolt on the gun itself because it's wood and can install one easily

I can't rack the boats until I can do the guns, so, I'm studying Lees' rigging book to plan the future parts (masting and rigging)

Great work Birder. Ships of sail are so elegant. This one looks ready for some boom work and rigging. Now the real fun begins!

Cleo is not in hibernation, only waiting for me to learn rigging adequately to have a start on it. She is very patient.

Regardless of how much rigging you end up installing - it looks great. I don't have the guts to try a sailing vessel. Your show may change my mind. Doin' good!

When I could see better rigging was the part of shipbuilding I enjoyed most. Something about all those lines, blocks, deadeyes eyebolts, etc. just fascinates me. I'd rather have someone else do the hull and deck furniture then give it to me to be rigged!
