Like a rat from a sinking ship

Seeing the turmoil, and the resignation of the only authority figures that have earned my respect, I too am moving on.
It has been a good time here, but that is coming to an end.
I am off to bluer skies.

I will keep coming here until it either closes or I am driven away. I met a lot of good people here, and some of them are still here. What is happening is not their fault.

I did not say that I would quit coming here. I merely indicated that I am already a member at the other site. I do however find the mass resignation of the admins and mods to be alarming. Having read the other posts and seen for myself what is happening I can say that I think that CG's decision to make any mods drop their mod positions elsewhere in order to mod here is a bad one. I've seen this kind of thing happen elsewhere and it never turned out good.

Hey!, When ships sink, rats leave to survive...we all need air to breathe!

I see mention of "blue sky". Interesting, this. Never have I seen a sky as blue as that in the eye of a hurricane. The trip in was frightening, the trip out was abject terror, but the few moments of peace, and beauty, in the eye?.......that was worth the trip, and will remain one of my most overpowering memories.
What triggered my resignation, was that Zealot was beginning to resemble "the trip out". I still can't resist being in the eye, I'll be around.

Hi All:
I have noticed a considerable drop off in topics. I just thought it was the economy.
I have to ask, one member here said, "I'm already there".
Where is "THERE" ?

WOW i am gone for some time and all the old timers step down as mods what next we all get our dream layout? or do i become a bank and get my share of the fed bail out money? i been here for some time and seen people come and go and yes i am not on here as much as i was in the past but the info here on this fourm is very helpfuli have given some my self . if the ship is sinking then let it sink don't try to patch it like the feds are doing to the stock market . a fix is only as good as the person who has done it. if the rats want better pice of chesse then lrt them go get it .but if a rat wants the same old cracker then i say hang on. i might not know the whole story behind all of this but as long as the old timers are still here i will be i have made some good freinds here on the gauge and when my son passed away my family here sent flowers to show they cared i haven't met alot of you in person but that thought will alwas be in my heart. the guage is more than a fourm it is family to alot of people and for a bunch of people to get together and help the next gen to understand things and help them all with a simple thank you . .... then all the rats who have jumped ship and the rats who are still on the deck looking into the unknown think what brought you to the guage ? what keep you coming back ? yes everything has change but change can sometimes be good so after you ask your self what did the guage do for me look at your layout and you will see .

Does it ever feel like you are following one of those mystery books where you have to follow the clues? If you happen to have the email addy for any of those members who sent you flowers, send them a note so see where they have run off to.

Time to think positive: those remaining here are now free to determine what they want this forum to be, and to personally shape it to meet those goals.

Why not make this forum different, instead of a clone of another forum?

No idea why it is that a person can't be a member of more then one forum. In the computer area I was once a member of about 25 or so forums.

Anyhow that is my opinion for what it is worth :)

You can be a member of as many forums as you like. The rules are, you can't be a moderator here if you moderate on another forum.

I have no problem with two very similar forums...and I check and post on both. Some folks left, some are still here, and new ones will come along....
Nothing earth-shaking about that....

It feels different because it is being run commercially, rather than on behalf of hobbies.

And this forum has a totally different "feel" to it, and it has entire sections that do not exist on it's alter ego, such as logging railroads.
