Evening all. Started early this AM. Installed a new depth finder on my boat I use in the pond. Then ran errands and went by Town Hall. Home for my walk and then put up Christmas lights and blow ups. Going to rest now. Later

Good morning folks

It was a much warmer 31 F as compared to yesterday’s 19 F as I headed onto the clogged roads to nowhere this morning. High today will be 52 F with rain. Tomorrow’s high will be around 60 F with rain! On Thursday we could be in for a big snow storm or not. I guess it depends on where the wheel of weather lands when the local weather guessers spin it.

Getting to work was a treat (not) this morning. A truck jack-knifed southbound on the I-476 below the exit I get on. Southbound was basically closed and northbound down to one lane. With all the traffic dumping off it gridlocked the local road system. The back roads I normally use to get to I-476 were jammed. I had to turn around twice and bushwhack. My normal 40 minute commute took close to an hour and a half.

We finished decorating the Christmas tree. My son continued “testing” the HO trains that he will be setting up under the tree.

I actually did some modeling, not much. I re-glued a figure to a tender. I upgraded the couplers to Kadees on two P2K Mather stock car kits I built a couple of months ago. They are now ready for weathering. I got the parts out the box for another P2K Mather stock car kit. This one is a double door version. I took out of the box and assembled a P2K PRR E8A that has been sitting on the work bench for longer than I want to think about.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Just dropping in to say HI, Carpet being cleaned today, go day to be at the office. Question: Is black roofing material unsafe to use as a material for streets or parking lots on a layout? Not a large amount, obviously.

If you're talking about the black felt paper that goes under the shingles, not especially. If you're talking about the shingle, they are mostly asphalt. I wouldn't want it on my layout.

Good evening all, 40ish and rained today snow to return tomorrow evening.

Trains have stopped rolling due to lack of track and operating fundssign1 progress will be slow until holidays are over. Hope by new year I will be employed somewherewall1

For now I will have to be happy as a hobo instead of being a rail baron:mrgreen: I guess I could throw up some lionel tubular and some gargraves track up as a temp layout till I can afford to get the track and switches needed:thumb:

The weather here has done a complete section 8! It's one storm after another! It's let up for a while now but there's more on the way. Already the power has gone out three times and I lost count of how many times the cable internet has gone down. Seems like every time I look up the modem is going offline.

Howdy folks! 34 degrees and raining in St. Louis, to get snow overnight! Kids are hoping for a day off, but not me. Wife will have to take off, as I have training tomorrow - if the kids' prayers for snow are answered that is

Watching some stuff on Ebay and working on track designs with rr tracks, but otherwise no trains today. Jeffrey - nice scene today, love the billboard!

Some people just like to hear themselves would be my guess:confused:

Just came home from the dentist hamr the only pain was the bill:mrgreen: glad no work needed to be done.
My wife manages a dental office, she used to be the lady who gave you the bill and I told everyone she was the one who really hurts you. Now she spends most of her time fixing others mess ups and dealing with insurance companies

Fairly nice day today. went to doctors today in fact 2 of them. went to one yesterday also. I think I go again Thursday, surgery on the 18th. It made for a long day. took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. now I am ready for bed again.

Good evening,

As the chief said, the forum is extremely slow tonight. I could not even get on this morning. Oh well, it is free. :thumb::mrgreen::wave:

Running a freight while I type. Mixed freight being pulled by a PRR Decapod. Sounds like I have a little squeak in that loco. Guess I'll have to set it on the service track and change locos for a while.

CSXect, Good luck to you on the job search.

Don, Why would it be unsafe?

Tom, I don't recall ever seeing a double door stock car, real or model. Wonder what the purpose was?

Tomorrow is Museum day, then out to dinner with friends so probably wont be posting till Thursday.

Good morning.

It's 39 and cloudy. The high is expected to be around 40 and it will be rainy with a chance of snow and sleet tonight.

Didn't do much yesterday. I converted a BB GP38-2 to DCC only to discover that it had a bum motor. It ran but very slowly. I changed the motor out and it runs OK now. The rest of the day was spent bracing for the storm and dealing with it's aftermath. I know I won't get anything done today as I have to go to Alexandria to have my eyes dilated again so the doc can look for more damaged blood vessels due to my diabetes. At least the weather is cooperating with me for once. It'll be good and cloudy on the drive back home.

Jeffrey, Thanks for your comment, actually I was considering the paper. I got some from a contractor doing a remodeling project down the street. Essentially, it is what I used to call tar paper. It doesn't have an order but looks pretty good.

Jeff F.,
Primary concern was fumes. But I havn't noticed any. Will see how it works. One person suggested using anti-skid sidewalk strips, that does have a texture, but maybe be hard on elbows.

Jeffrey, HOW LONG have you been working your layout? You sure set the bar high!!

Good morning folks

It was 54 F as I rolled into the traffic jams this morning. High today will be 63 F with rain.

I had another morning of traffic chaos. I guess people couldn’t handle the mild temperatures and the rain. Accidents were everywhere and people driving like the roads were ice covered. It was another hour plus commute. Of course that meant I was almost late for a meeting. Luckily the person we were meeting with was stuck in the same traffic mess as I was so the meeting got started more or less “on time.”

No modeling last night. My daughter had flute lesson and I had to attend Cub Scout Roundtable. My wife took my son and other scouts from our pack to a local grocery store for a behind the scenes tour. My son did set-up his HO track and Christmas village under the tree. He hopes to test it before we go to Cub Scout den meetings tonight.

I hope everybody has a good day.
