Good morning from St. Louis, MO! It's 33 and overcast and looks yucky out. Today, I have to do a science fair project with my son demonstrating boolean logilic with a few light switches I picked up. BUT - he has to do the work and actually learn how this stuff works, so it will be interesting. I love solving stuff like this, so to me it is fun. I hope he gets that and gets into it. Maybe if it was a videogame

John - yes, we like the Toshiba laptops. I set up a wireless network a long time ago and somehow I have managed to keep it going, so the cables haven't been a problem for us.

Theres a blast from the past Boolean logic (also called boolean algebra)

and gates, or gates, nand gates, nor gates, xor gates, xnor gates , not gates(inverter) and buffer gates:eek::eek::eek: digital electronics

If you think this is fun try learning relay ladder logic the first step to learning to program a PC(programable controlers)used to automate industrial equipment and processes:thumb:

wet and cold here.

Lester, We have the same weather here. Think it covered a pretty big area.

Pretty busy day planned for tomorrow, ending with a semiannual doctors appointment. Hope I can fit in an hour or so at the fitness center. Have been neglecting that lately because of time constraints and back pain, both are looking better.

It's coming down to the wire on doll house construction. Have three rooms yet to wallpaper, then do windows & trim, baseboard, front door, porch trim, curtain rods and curtains, cap for chimney, install fire and logs in two fire places, hang bath mirror, install wall cabinet in kitchen and install about about 30 wall outlets. The lighting fixtures are all prepped and ready to plug into ceiling and sconce outlets. I think that's it.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Good morning.

It's 39 and clear. The high will be in the high 50's and it will be partly cloudy.

My two Atlas GP40's are pulling a 23 car train around the layout this morning and aren't having a bit of trouble, and these are weighted cars too so it's no lightweight. The train is around 16 feet long. The BNSF SD40 is pulling a 19 car train around the inner loop. I don't expect to get much done on the layout today. I have to go see my PCP to get a referral to continue seeing the foot specialist whom I have to go see this afternoon. I also have to get refills on some of my prescriptions, including my insulin. What a joy that's gonna be. I planted 15 trees last night then hit the sack early. I was worn out. I planted 3 elms, 6 conifers and 6 cedars. I'll say one thing for Bachmann, their Scene Scape trees look pretty good but they are pricey, $10 for a box of 6, 3 in the case of the elms.

jefelectric. We don't live very far apart. So what it is doing here it probably will be doing there. Very windy here last night 45 degrees this morning. Have to go to hospital this afternoon for a class on knee replacements. It is part of their program for patients. I have a lot to do this AM so off I go. Everyone have a good day

Good morning folks

It was a brisk 46 F this morning. High today will be 51 F.

It felt cold as I had to walk from the auto repair shop this morning. The brake light on the van started coming on every once in a while in the van. On a couple of occasions I thought I heard some grinding in the rear brakes. So I dropped it off this morning and took the wife’s Tracker to work.

I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was good. Despite battling colds and cough ours went off pretty good. The turkey was cooked correctly and the other vittles came out perfect. This was the first Thanksgiving with our new ovens. In the past with the old ovens we used to get half done turkeys. Nothing like one side cooked, almost burnt and the other still pink. We didn’t make into the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parade to march with the Scouts. I did see several of our pack members on TV marching.

We did a little shopping. We avoided the early morning crowds. We also started the decorating. Our decorating usually takes about a week to finish. We did the outside lights Saturday before it started to rain. I still have the window candles to put in and rooms to decorate.

No trains this weekend. I am holding out for some modeling before Christmas.

I hope everybody has a good day.

I found out this morning what's been wrong with my car lately. It's been running rough and nothing I did improved it any. I changed the fuel filter, the air filter, spark plugs, plug wires. Nothing made any difference. This morning I had the fuel pressure checked and a computer diagnostic done. The EGR valve is bad. Parts store wants $200+ for one so I went to the local scrap yard and got one for $27. I won't have time to change it today or tomorrow but maybe Wednesday. The mechanical part of it is OK, just the electronic part is cutting up so that makes it somewhat easier.
