Here's some more progress on the coaling station. The rafters have been weathered and the sheet metal for the roof has been cut to size.

Just doing a little roofing work on an old coaling station this week. I want the structure to have the appearance that it was abandoned and hasn't been used for decades.

And now the other side.

I should have the top done by next weekend.

OK...It's the little details that count when it comes to making our trains "believable"....After years of looking at Tom's great roll-bys, I just noticed something...No, it's not the weeds, or rails, or that gorgeous water tower, or even the mileposts....
IT'S THE FLANGES....!!!! They're shiny...just like "real" trains...Who would'a thought to go and shiny-up the flanges...!!??

Congratulations Tom....Always one step ahead of the game....:thumb:

My birthday present from my wife, Kato SD40-2!

Also, I've been working on this Walthers Difco dump car. I've weathered it with Tamiya chalks so far, and some drops of Gouache, however, "Burnt Sienna" is too light for the car's weathering. Here's the "inspiration car":

Late October, the foliage is almost past peak as Southwick and Winsted GP38-2, passes by the industrial sidings, and heads south along the Naugatuck River.
