I agree with sgtcarl in my choice. I am always wishing I had more blue on my trains and layouts.

Josh, looks great! Man, I wish I had your ambition! I think the blue would be a good color for your fleet. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Thanks Carl

What color blue tho? The Blue thats on the Dump Trucks? Like a dark Blue?

Heres a pic of what the decals will look like for the cement trucks, dump trucks, and buildings:

and Door Logos for all trucks;

****Pictures are blurry and extremely small, i have been assured that they print out crisp and clear by the custom decal maker

So what color Blue should the trucks be? Should i go with Blue or some other color now that the logos are posted?

Are you going to do one of these up in the blue star scheme? Its 1:87.

Man I saw that rig on 1-87vehicles.org and drool came pouring out of my mouth, YESSSS I want to do a few of those for my plant. I think im going to e-mail the guy who built it and see if i cant get some more info on it and what he had to do to make it look so awesome!!!!

My Favorite color is BLUE    so i have no problem with making the fleet Blue   Im just stumped on what shade blue to use?  The Logo has a light blue star in it.... and if i remember correctly from Kevin's thread from his kit bashing of that Con-Cor Cement Truck into a Dump Trucks, the original tuck was solid white with the blue star logo on the truck...

I was just thinking though, there is a light/medium blue star in the Blue Star Ready Mix Logo.... I wonder if the Blue paint on the trucks will interfere with the Blue Star in the logo from being seen or being hard to see?

blue on blue..

Whether or not the blue on Star would conflict with the blue on trucks would be compatible with each other depends on many variables. Lighting, angle of sight, etc. Personally, I really like thalo blue, aka: Prussian Blue. It has a naturally slightly metallic sheen.

I have a question about your wiring plans(and I may have missed it re-reading the thread).

I'm thinking about a shelf layout, but I'm wondering how to make the wiring accessible AND hidden?

LOL I have no idea, i have not even begun to wire any track at this time. I dont even have any power source at the time :eek:ops: thats on the list of "what i need next" along with a DCC system  which i will then begin the task of wireing which i am not really looking forward to as i dont have ANY experience in wireing :eek:ops:

Speaking of a power source, whats a good one to get?

The best system you can get is NCE powercab. when you check it against comparably priced systems, it wins hands down. In fact, it beats out most other higher priced sets, and it was a walk around throttle already. I've used the Powercab myself, and if i hadn't already bough the Prodigy Express, i would buy powercab.

Power cab allows you to control a lot more of your layout than most beginner systems.

I've tried the other systems out there, like digitrax and bachmann, but NCE seems to be the best.

Try E-Z Command. I've read that it's quite good.

It really isn't Its stuck in one spot, and had limited features. Thomas Modeler says it all, have you ventured anything outside bachmann?

I've never tried it. All I know is hearsay, and what it says at the Bachmann site. Of course, not everyone minds stationary controls, you know. And it can become walkaround and more advanced via Dynamis.

but you see, thats the point i'm trying to make. You need to look up other systems. bachmann isn't the only answer.

besides, dynamis costs $300

NCE power cab costs $185 or less, has more functions, and provides only slightly less current (dynamis provides 2.3 amps, while Powercab provides only 2 amps).

You need to do your homework! the Powercab out performs dynamis in just about every way relevant to this layout, and only just over half the price.

Thanks for the info Chris, im going to check out the NCE Powercab

**Prepare for a really dumb question**

If i get the Digitrax Super Chief DCC System, i will be able to use it with the NCE Powercab right? Or do i need to even get a Power source if i get the Digitrax Super Chief? Is the Super Chief a Power source as well as a DCC System? :eek:ops: :eek:ops: :eek:ops: :eek:ops:

Sorry. I am ignorant on the subject, mainly because I myself have no plans to go DCC.:p And if I do, I'll use E-Z command because of A. plug-in wiring and B. You can run a DC loco in conjunction, and one of my project locos is so tiny there's barely room for a motor, much less a decoder too.:p
On another note, TruckLover's layout looks excellent. He is a skilled modeler, and has been making excellent progress. TruckLover, keep up the good work. I'm sorry for this stupid argument, it was totally my fault.
