that paint scheme was put on older passenger cars, i have only seen that paint scheme on the "Harriman" type passenger cars, i haven't seen it on any streamliners . (where is Triplex when you need him  :119: )
Sorry, can't help on that. I like UP greyhound colors, but haven't seen too many pictures of them (especially not in color).

Deano, nice shot of the UP 9993. That is the former WP 3559, the last locomotive bought by the Western Pacific, my favorite road.

Here's the pride of my collection, UP 3552, an Athearn Blue Box unit re-powered with a Mashima can motor. I need to get DCC in this thing.

Gus, THANKS for the link:thumb: , i am unable to view vids here at home since i am dial-up:eek:ops: , but i checked it out at dads:thumb: .

Triplex, yea, its hard to find pics of the "Greyhound/Overland" paint scheme, like i said, i have only seen that paint scheme on the "Harriman" type passenger cars.

Tom, WOW!:eeki: , FANTASTIC JOB on that SD40-2:thumb::thumb: , I can see why its the pride of your layout:thumb::mrgreen: .

Kevin, THANK YOU for the complements on the hopper:mrgreen: . if you go back just one page on this thread(p.59) , i think post #879 will give you an idea of what i did:winki::smilie: .

The LAST TWO pics are for Tom(CCT70):winki::mrgreen: .

On another note, i hope to have the UP Alco C420 finished up late tonight:thumb: , as soon as i finish it, I'll post some shots:winki: .

ON MY SIDE OF THE TRACKS...
Well, i finished up my NEW UP Alco C420:thumb::mrgreen: ...ALMOST:eeki::119: ,
while putting the finishing touches on it tonight i noticed;
1- I am out of the wire i use to make the coupler cut bars:eeki:
AND
2- I am slap out of firecracker antennas:eek:ops:

the wire isn't a big deal, i can pick some up Monday, I'll have to make an order to Walther's for the antennas:winki: .

It doesn't look like i did much, but the gray that was on this engine was way to dark, so i ended up repainting ALL of it Polly Scale "harbor mist gray":thumb: . i also added some hoses, decals, sunshades, painted the white on the end railings, weathered it and put a MRC sound decoder in it:smilie: . as i mentioned, i still need to add coupler cut bars and a firecracker antenna to it:eek:ops: , they will be added when i get them:thumb: .

PICS
1- the engine NEW in the box
2- the engine as i got it, right out of the box
3- the engine finished(well, almost:119: )
4- UP Alco's C420 and an RS27 roll through Rock Valley

Looks great, Dean! :thumb::thumb: It's really surprising how much difference it makes to use the proper shade of grey, and the red numbers on the cab are icing on the cake. ;):-D
I also enjoyed your previous post, with the prototype diesels: nicely composed shots, well lit, and with clean diesels, too. :thumb::-D:-D

NO PROBLEM Todd:winki: , i'm ALWAYS GLAD to post UP pics:mrgreen: . Honestly, i thought i had taken more "FLAG" engine pics then that:confused: , but i found most of my pics have the old standard paint scheme, or the "lightning bolt" scheme.

Deano, you did really great job on the Alco! Amost can't believe how wrong it looked in the colors it came in. Those black numbers looked so weird.

I love your pictures of the engines, I really like UP's lightning Flag scheme. That area where you take pictures is great, I really like the flowers and shrubs in the foreground and the trees in the background. Where is that at? I love scenery that goes all the way to the track in 1:1 scale. i could easily see myself being that little kid sitting there watching the trains.

Here is one over the very few pictures I have ever taken of trains. It is near the ippx facility in Springville, Utah where all the coal cars are stored and worked on.

I tried to get it on railpictures, but it got rejected (no surprise).

Kevin & Jim, THANKS YOU GUYS!:mrgreen:

Some paint work, a few detail parts, a couple decals and some weathering, can really bring an engine to life:winki: ...well, i think so:119: .
