Sorting it all

The models I mean

By now, I have devoted a major chunk of my HDD to the collection of Papermodels from around the web.

At this moment, I am trying to sort it all, hence my question:

How do you all sort your models??

My method at the moment involves keeping an excel sheet with Model Name, Creator, Format (PDF, PDO, JPG...) Scale, etc, etc.

I have even gone so far as to sort the models to "classes" i.e. Aviation (Civil) and Aviation (Militairy). This is going to be a very VERY painful process, but when I am finished, I might even produce a Database with pictures of finished models and such.

Any input on a better way? Or maybe something els I may have overlooked (perhaps there is or should be something like Papercraft Collector by Collectorz.com )

That's the way I do it, like Paul, but it's really getting clunky. If there's a better way I'd sure like to hear about it.

The main problem I have is sorting all the web link's to model pages. I must have at least 50, I have a folder just for card model links. But visiting all the links takes a while.

It's not really a problem, I mean, the more links and models the better.

I've got all those links in an excel sheet, so when i sort the models, i can point to where it's from...

Do you guys also sort by creator?? i.e.:

Star Trek\Federation\ NX-xxxxxx - Intrepid Class - USS Voyager (Skippy)
Star Trek\Federation\ NX-xxxxxx - Intrepid Class - USS Voyager (Nothing)
Star Trek\Federation\ NX-xxxxxx - Intrepid Class - USS Voyager (Ninjatoes)

and so on...

I try to organize by model type.

Aircraft Pre-WW1
Aircraft WW1
Aircraft WW2
Aircraft Modern
Aircraft Modern Military

ex. Sub-folders for the first are WW2 Aircraft/WW2 Plane - Ca13 Boomerang [Trotskiy 1.60]

I usually have a 'Subfolder' - 'Model Name' [manufacturer/artist 1.scale]

My method has SOME organization to it but everything changes after a while when I find a better way.

My "collection" looks like this(I like using English for my folders :D ):

I don't print models from these scans - I prefer originals. As you see, I don't like aviation and I don't have much models (but, of course, I have Claudio's BumbleBee(I'm printing it, and ONLY 5 (left leg) SHEETS LEFT!!!!!) and the trebuchet). If you can't see the pictures clearly, click "rodyti originalaus dydzio paveiksleli" above the pic.
