Look what I found lying around at the LHS this morning. When I saw what's on the lower right hand corner I couldn't pass it up.

Being I'm pretty much an Athearn magnet I had to have it.

I also picked up these two items.

Jeff, what was the bonus car? Here's my post from last week's (posted earlier today):
Here's what I've been up to the past few weeks:
roundy-rounder moutain layout:

The mountains are made w/ pink foam, blue foam, and styrofoam glued together w/ hot glue. The foam will be covered w/ plaster cloth.
And here's the prototype of my the yard I'll be putting in on my big layout:

Since this will only be servicing 2 locomotives on my next layout, I moved locomotive servicing to the other end of the A/D track and put it on one long track (an H-15-44 and a medium road switcher can't use a whole lot of fuel, right?). The gP30 is parked in what was locomotive servicing. I've almost finished ballasting, and still have to wire it (atlas terminal rail joiners).
And right now I'm bidding on a GP35 on ebay. if I lose it (and I'm not opursuing it that hard), I'll get some plaster cloth and terminal rail joiners for my current layouts.

Remember...it's for fun!
One more shot of the Kings Port & Western switcher at work a the oil transfer facility.

That is a find!
A trains set named "The Warbonnet Express", with a Santa Fe "F" unit on the box, and Union Pacific in it.....
Think someone Ooopsed?

I haven't posted any pics lately so I went on a photo trip this afternoon. I decided to go into the mountains and this is what I found.

Man it was sure working hard pulling that grade

100_1212-1.jpg

this thing must have a lot of train behind it

100_1214-2.jpg

OK now it is getting closer

100_1213-1.jpg

Wow that is one awesome grade

You mean thats it a tank car and box car. Man that thing was working hard to pull that little train , he must have used a ton of sand on that pull.

Now he is coming out the other side of the tunnel

Well mission accomplished I got some new pics of the J&M railroad. I heard that last year they broke even, first time in twenty five years of operation. I hope you enjoyed the pics

That UP paint job is gonna bite the dust just as soon as I get around to redoing it.
:eeki::eeki::eeki: ....AHH, so its gonna be like REAL regionals/shortlines, MANY engines owned by MOST of them were once UP engines:winki: , thats OK Jeffrey, we'll all know that F unit is a UP at heart:thumb::mrgreen: .

BTW, NICE BUY!:thumb: i have the SAME NP box, IT gon, and UP caboose:mrgreen: , but i bought each of them separate.

Nice work everyone :thumb:

jbaakko, the picture will even look better after you add some scenery.
jeffrey-wimberl, you are lucky, I rarely find any bargain at my ( RC oriented ) local hobby store, let alone offering a bonus car.
Packers#1, nice yard. The beauty of N scale: an impressive yard holding in a few feet of space.
Charlie : nice shot. I was unaware of the existence of the LJ line.
Ralph: nicely detailed oil transfer facility.
lester perry: That yellowish light doesn't do justice to your mountain layout. Can't you correct that on your digital camera ?
shaygetz and Deano: you must be filthy rich to afford such a monster and pay the electric bill for it. I'm impressed ( maybe jealous ). I can't even afford a 6 axles on my layout.
I did some N scale boxcars and bridges weathering:

Great pics again this week! I know, I’ve been only lurking for a long time now – I hope "summer" counts as an excuse :eek:ops:. Here is a shot of my Baldwin VO-1000.

If you are collecting the UP War Bonnet Set as a "collectible" manufacturer error, hoping it will become "valuable" as an oddity some day, once you break the factory seal on the box, it has no "collectible" value.

Many years ago people were saving Bowman baseball card sets in sealed boxes or sealed cases. The outside said Series 1, but the cards inside were Series 2. The only way to verify them was to break the factory seal and look inside to actually see what they were, at which point they had on extra value.

I doubt that your set, and similarly mis-marked items would ever have a collectors' group willing to pay extra for them. But it is neat that you photographed the error.
