I'd love to have it out on display but I don't want it to be a dust collector as I don't have one of them fancy glass display cases. I've got plans to have a working HO loop soon. Perhaps then, I can run it in DC mode and perhaps that will motivate me to pursue the conversion.

Why not make it a rusty old wreck at an enginehouse or on a track i the middle of a park as a museum object... After all it's too nice to be boxed in a closet...

Beautiful piece there, TrainNut. It looks like a PFM/United Sierra #38. I have an ad on my Photobucket page. Did it ever have a trailing truck? That old open frame motor would spank any DCC chip---and most modern transformers--- like a bad school boy, they just don't make buzzers like that anymore.:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Good eyes! My initial response was, "Well yeh, it's a 2-6-6-2!" Then I got to staring at the pictures a little bit and noticed the trailing truck was not there... DOH! Then it occured to me that when I reassembled the loco last time, I did not put it completely back together as I intended to pursue the conversion a bit more and never did. Therefore, one of those parts is the trailing truck. I guess I better reassemble that thing before they get lost.

The Riverossi Cresent Limited Pacific
Maybe not a oldie oldie but just a plain oldie.
A photo before repair. Missing front pilot and the trailing truck.
I replaced the the frame and rear trailing truck. I lost the cresent detail on the cylinders. I don't have a replacement rivet for the cylinders to attach to the frame.

This is a great collection for us more "seniors"....The oldest batch of cars I have are metal (and a Varney plastic hopper) Athearn cars from my ol' man's collection...all from late 40's to very early 50's....The good ol' days....

A Pennsylvania Railroad 0-4-0 A5 Was made by them, HObbyline in plastic powered and nonpowered kit versions. In cast metal by John English ready to run and kit. I have several of them, Plastic and cast and all of mine still run. Two of them, kits, John English, still have original boxes.

The Gilbert Exploding box car
Gilbert made this exploding box in this yellow version 33806,the Mine Car, and a black TNT car. You needed to stop it atop a special track to make it explode. It also came with a push button switch.
