Greetings all.

Got up a bit early. Why? It's a bank holiday and it's pouring with rain. It figures.
Thanks to all veterans and service men and women, have a nice holiday.

Yes, I'm British, but I figure if not for your vets, I'd be writing this in German.

Great weathering job on that one, Jeffrey. Oh well, if steamer is dead, then it's good that it has a place of honor anyway.

Good morning everybody! No sinus this morning, but took meds just in case as the storms are supposed to be back all week. I'll be back a little later.

Morning all. Stormy overnight but sunny for now. Glad you're feeling better, Brutus - seems like an allergy-kind of day here. Gotta get going with the bride's honey-do list...

I just recently learned there was a pow camp here back in WWII that were captured german soliders. Also there is a small industrail railroad that was named after a civil war prison camp called Camp chase.

XP is good but for some things Linux work for me better, now windows ME is a real dog of a OS.

Steamhead, I have epeyx sub battle simulator and wings of furry both cool games for the apple.

GOOD EVENING
Wow we had a summer day. Tied the old record of 85. My computer says its 86. No rain or storms ,YET.
CSXect- I have WOW package, The cable is 98% trouble free. the 2% is to reboot the box now and then. Phone and computer only had a few months not quite as good. Oh it works great but the modem, with no apparent reason will shut down. It reboots(except once the phone was off all day and we didn't notice.) It did turn out to be a quiet day without the phone. I had to disconnect the cable and reattach. Then return all the unanswered calls. Another time the phone went dead while I was talking to a friend. Thats my story.
I did some outdoor things today nothing too exciting. Probably cutting the grass was the highlite of the day and grannys potato salad. I hope all of you had a fun day. TTFN S.J.

Wife and kids got back from KC on the Amtrak - it was a little late due to a storm and lightning hit the track! So, the switches ahead had to be certified and the train went about 15 miles per hour for a longish time. I hit a LHS and picked up a model house for the eventual layout. You put together a cardboard form an then glue all these bricks together until you have this little cottage. It looks really cool, can't wait to see how it turns out. I might try to figure out a way to put in actual windows instead of black plaster or whatever they have here.

Tim Hartenel - I think I met this guy in Columbia, MO a couple times? He was really sick though. I started with a TI99-4A, then had an APPLE IIe with a Dualdisc Drive, Prodos, Appleworks, and an Apple Scribe printer that I later upgraded to their dotmatrix printer. I had that thing souped up with extra ram from Beagle Brothers too! Sold it and bought a Turbo XT computer with a 40MB HDD that I had until 1994, when I bought my first Pentium with Windows 3. Had lots of games on the Apple IIe including Ghostbusters, Strike Eagle (?), The Mist (text-game), Zork I - III, some Chess game, and a bunch more too.

Greetings again, all.:thumb:

The rain finally stopped, but I haven't had a good day. Nothing done of any great significance.

The 'logicman' tag comes from my being a linguist and programmer. I have fond memories of the old cassette-based home computers - I wrote an anti-copy routine for one.

A little-known fact about computers is that they are extremely slow at handling raw ascii text as information - as when analysing text linguistically.
I can convert an entire VHS tape to DVD in less time than it takes to 100% accurately extract all of the nouns from 'Alice in Wonderland'.wall1

With what I know about computers, I should be OK when I get around to DCC - which brings me back on track, with apologies for the temporary de-rail and the permanent penchant for puns.

You all have fun, now.:thumb:

You would be amazed at the striking difference in dialect from Canada down to the deep south, heck the difference from one end of town here to another, not all southerners and country folk sound like Jeff foxworthy some are even more deviated from standard english. For they life of me I still have not figured out what the word youfers means:confused: ruent=ruined, wasper= wasp, warsh= wash, rouf=roof, feesh=fish

CSXect,
Kent and Yorkshire [my home county] are only 250 miles apart, if we were to use our respective dialects? Conversation would be nigh impossible.
