Here is a riverside oil loading facility and a fuel barge I'm working on. The barge still needs some details. I'm replacing a scene that had a coal barge and a crane that I kept catching on my sleeve! This one has a lower profile. :)

The Riverside Railroad
Well, back on the Riverside Railroad, I caught Hustler #1116 waiting on the mainline with a small unit train of grain hoppers with a caboose and two B&O passenger cars:
000_00071.JPG

Wait a second, B&O Passenger cars and the tail end of a short switch job? The only passenger car I own is my Athearn 60th Aniversary Obsevation car. I took a picture of the train's rear, but there were indeed two B&O passenger cars tacked onto this train, as this pic comfirms:
000_00081.JPG

I was pleased about this, though, as I found out that these two cars had come from the Christianson, Cynthianna & Thomasville branch of the Baltimore & Ohio RR, a layout created by my good friend John Listerman. Aparently these two cars were due for scrapping, but I'd saved them from that fate, and asked John if I could have them, and he said go ahead. Now on the RRR, these two cars are to be overhauled into excursion/comuter cars to go with my obsevation. The first car, the "Laurel Dale" is externaly in good condition, but most of her interior has long since been removed, and as such must be replaced:
000_0009.JPG

The second B&O car, simply no. 3781, is unfortunently in worse condition:
000_0010.JPG

Now, if I needed a run-down off-to-the-side coach waiting for scrapping, this would be a perfect canidate, with not only the interior also missing like the Lauel Dale, but half the windows on one side broken out by punks, faulty couplers, and one of the rubber diphrams probably ripped off as evidenced by the brown "rust" like patches on the visible doorway. This poor coach, probably made by Athearn from the similarities to my "Irvin R. Athearn" Observervation car seen on the right, will require an extensive teardown to even make railworthy. Once that ever happens, the coach may become Riverside Coach #3781 or remain B&O Coach #3781, but in both cases I shall rename it "John Listerman" in honor of my good friend who gave me the coaches.

My new custom UP SD40-2

Here is my humble offering, a Super Detailed, Custom Painted UP SD40-2 in the old late 70's paint scheme (my favorite) since I model this era on the WP and these UP units were very common out here at the time as run through/pool power.

I've been messing around with making some dummy switch stands. I'm using small resistors I purchased for a nickel a piece at a local liquidators. I trim one wire to approximate a scale height for the colored target and cut the other short enough so it makes a mounting pin for the switch stand into the layout.

I glued a small piece of the wire at an angle to the resistor body to create the switch stand handle and then painted the assembly black. I used stick on dots for the targets.

Here's how they are shaping up so far.

and here's a pic of the materials...

Montreal, Canada Eh
great pictures everyone.
I like the Ralph's idea about the switch stands. I wish they made N scale resistors .
I painted the styrene road on my switching layout and did some railfanning down the road.

Great pictures, everyone, and the resistor idea is a good one - well worth stealing. ;-)

Shaygetz: that loco's a jaw-dropper, and so is the price. That one would start a real bidding war on ebay UK.
What brand is it? I'm guessing Rivarossi or Bachman.
