Sorry I am so late today. I was mowing the lawn and my back yard is a hill that goes down into trees with a lot of crappy wild rose bushes and stuff. I was mowing along the back edge up to the trees, around and between the bushes, and noticed some clods of dirt with grass on them. I turn around and someone dug a big hole in the hill, about 1.5 by 2 feet and a good foot deep. It was done with a full size shovel, based on the cuts in the dirt, so I guess an adult or older boy did it. If I had taken another step back, I would by laying on the hill with a broken leg!!! I asked the neighbor to have his kids watch for anyone back there, since they play in the street and yard at the top of the hill. My guess is that they might know who did this, but it could have been an adult during the day or something? Who knows. What a mess. I am so mad!

Chinese for dinner. Now, basic black with a white stallion rules the RR. :thumb: TV time. Later
Great minds think alike...actually it was Kim's idea, but that is what we had for dinner. Poor girl has taken a turn for the worse yesterday. She had to leave work early and took today off. first time in 3 years she has called out. I am feeling a bit congested too. I hope to get over it, but it just hangs on.

Have a busy day today and when I get home, I am sure I will have to watch over the house as my bride rests. Kids have been asking to work on the layout, so perhaps I can keep them busy with that while wife takes a nap.

Anyway, I have a prayer request for those who are so inclined. A good friend is heading to an undisclosed place for a mission for about a month. Can't tell more than that, but usually these things require a whole lot of stealth and prayer.

God Bless,
dennis

Good morning folks

It is 49 F according to the High School website. High will be 61 F.

I am having a rough start this morning. I am still home waiting for my father-in-law’s doctors office to open. I went to wake him up this morning as I do every morning before I leave to work. I could tell something wasn’t right by the way he got up. Since he has this he-man attitude when comes to telling you if he is sick or not getting information out of him can be a challenge. After trying to find out what was wrong and getting nowhere he headed off to the bathroom and vomited. He then said that his stomach hurt and he felt cold and clammy. Of course he could hide the fact he was sick since he showed it in front of my wife and I. He has had a cough the past week or so and saw the doctor last week. I have just spent and an hour and a half calling his doctor’s office to only find out that they will open at 10 AM instead of their normal 8 AM today. I just wish he would learn to tell s when he is not feeling well. The last time he pulled this stunt a couple of years ago he wound up in the hospital and rehab center for 6 weeks. He spent two weeks in a medically induced coma so they could treat an infection he got.

Nothing else to report. No modeling. Tonight is supposed to be Cub Scout den meetings.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Freezing here - and tomorrow's May. Sigh. Looking forward to my one-and-only biz trip to Phoenix or rather someplace an hour outside of Phoenix next week. Beautiful shot, Jeffrey. Looks like sunrise. Prayers for your friend and your bride to feel better, Dennis. Brutus, glad you didn't fall in the hole! Maybe someone was stealing a shrub. Mmm, I wouldn't mind some Chinese food for bkfst.

Morning guys! Watching morning news, major fire at Hollywood and Vine, have about 115 firefighters involved. A restaurant is burning "BASQUE", what a terrific job these guys do, sure looks dangerous. They have 6 aerial Master Streams hitting the fire, its been burning for over a hour and half. (By the way the interior of this building was the scene used for filming of Ocean's 11)
More entertaining news. We had our 2nd Operating session yesterday afternoon. Great time for all. Had lots of collision unfortunately, but doesnt appear any equipment was damaged. I was running a passenger train which had a speed range of between 50-60smph, and got rear-ended by a freight that was suppose to be doing 30. I was leaving a station and the freight was highballing for some reason. Then one of the guys was operating a set of Budd cars, and his team consisting of 2 freights. The freights were suppose to drop off their consist and pick up a different set of cars, then the next freight pick up the cars that were dropped off, and leave its consist. The Budd set would come out of this secluded area pushing 3 or 4 freight cars almost everytime. One of the guys would leave his cars on the main. The surprise of the guy with the Budd cars was awesome.
I have a little concern for this evening. One of the guys purchased a new engine from a shop in the southeast. Anyway, it was DOA, so he called the shop and they told him they would send him a new set of boards. So he wouldn't have to go through the warranty process. He has just received the boards, and has asked if I would help him install them! Cause he is not sure of what he's doing !!! If I do ???
Fire update: Apparently the building that is burning is known to have a lot of memorabilia stored in the attic area. There is a large billboard that is on the roof of the building (1-2 story building) is threatening to fall. The water flowing out of the building looks like a river, ankle deep running down the street. The sign has forced all the firefighters out of the building, delaying getting the fire out. Lots of history going up, it is a historic building. Right on the corner of Hollywood and Vine.

What an awesome day so far :thumb: The Patriot Guard Riders brought home the last 80 miles Troop A, 1st Squadron, 113th Calvary to Des Moines, 130 of America's best soldiers who have been in Iraq for almost a year. We are so proud of our National Guard, hard to imagine how their lives have been impacted this last year, we all owe them a huge pat on the back for protecting our freedom. At the dismissal ceremony I was standing next to a wife & baby w/Grandparents -- the baby got to meet her DAD for the first time! An awesome day :thumb::thumb:

We just got in.

At one point things were very hairy with my father-in-law. He continued to fight with us but we started to notice it was not in his usual way. Also he was saying some off the wall stuff and would not respond to our questions. After we go the kids off to school I tried to get a hold of his doctor’s office again with no success as apparently the office staff neglected to turn the phones on. Found that gem out from the answering service. I spoke with my father-in-law one more time and he got unusually argumentive but not with me. It was like he was talking to someone else. At that point I told my wife I did not like the situation and called 911. We were able to get him to walk downstairs where we meet the EMT’s. They took him to the hospital. As I feared he had a stroke. He is in the hospital and it appears to not be life threatening at this time. He is having trouble speaking and with some motor skills. There has been some improvement since this morning as some of his speech returned and he was able to follow some commands.

Right now we are in wait and see mode as they will evaluate him over the next few days.
