Good Morning! Well, we made it to Friday. Not much going on today. Cases are mostly done, so I have a chance to recover. The meeting is postponed, till our "schedulers" can work out a date. Junior Women's league got in the way. Took delivery of a K-Line water tower yesterday. Bride doesn't bawk at scenery as much as more rolling stock/enigines. Our dishwasher is on the fritz, so we have a repairman coming to the house this afternoon. I looked into it, and it sounds like a bearing has gone in the motor. I'll let the pros handle that. As Clint Eastwood would say "A mans got to know his limitations".
Hope y'all have a great weekend.
God Bless,
dennis

Good morning folks

It was 58 F this morning on the way to work. It is supposed to go up to 77 F. Just on cue we expect rain over the weekend.

The kids had a fun day at my work yesterday. They got to tour the building and in the afternoon we visited one of the big construction projects. They couldn’t go to an active construction area but they did get to see a wetlands replacement site. We also visited a township park where as part of the project they relocated a stream to prevent it from eroding its bank. They took a straight stream and made it meander through the park. We also visited on of the bridge replacement sites, that is being worked on at night and they saw how the contractor had to demolish the existing bridge over a busy expressway.

No modeling last night. I had to clean the fish pond filter and do a few other odds and ends around the house.

This is one of those outrageous kids weekend. We start off with our Cub Scouts participating in a local creek clean-up. Next both kids have Little League games which they may not make. I the evening is my son’s birthday party at the local roller skating rink. Sunday will be recovery and yard work.

I would like to finish a photo session that I started early in the week. I have it all set-up, just need to take the photos. I then need to evaluate what I want to do next on the layout and/or work bench. I could also enter the locos into the computer inventory.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Goodness, Tom, that sounds like a long weekend. Glad you can recover today, Dennis. Did I mention I ordered that Plymouth set from Boscov's for myself for my b-day next month? Amazing how tall those tomato plants have gotten already - must be all that carbon dioxide from Chief's speechifying. ;)

This has been in the local news the past couple of days.

A plane crashed into Toledo Bend Reservoir in Sabine County Tuesday afternoon. No survivors had been found by 9:30 p.m., more than five hours after the crash was reported, Sabine County Sheriff's Office said. A dispatcher with the Sheriff's Office said the plane went down into the lake close to Indian Mounds Recreation Area. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig said air traffic put out a notice that the Cirrus SR22 aircraft was overdue just before 4 p.m. Tuesday. At about 4 p.m., a local department got a 911 call from a witness saying that a plane went down in the lake. Herwig says that the plane was en route from Tupelo, Miss., to David Wayne Hooks Airport in Spring, Texas, near Houston.

The Sheriff's Office said it could not confirm how many people were on board. He said the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating. Herwig said the plane is owned by McAir LLC of West Memphis, Ark. Toledo Bend is on the Texas-Louisiana border. No Louisiana law enforcement agencies were working with the search and rescue.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials say search teams have discovered human body parts among the wreckage of a fixed wing single engine 2006 CIRRUS SR22 that crashed Tuesday afternoon in East Texas. The remains have been taken to Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.
Fifty-four-year-old Daniel McIntire of Humble, Texas, George McFadden of New York and 34-year-old Heather Hardin of Pecan Island Louisiana all died in the crash. The three are business partners working for Crescent Directional Drilling out of Houston. The companies chief operating officer, Michael Torres, said that McIntire, who was piloting the plane, was the chief financial officer for the company and McFadden was the companies principal owner but was not involved in the day to day operations. A Texas Department of Public Safety operator said witnesses a plane sputtering, but it was obscured by clouds. The plane then broke through the clouds and hit the lake nose first. A dispatcher with the Sabine County Sheriff's Office says the plane went down close to the Indian Mounds Recreation Area. The Sabine County Sheriff's Office spent most of Tuesday evening sorting through the wreckage of the plane that crashed in the Toledo Bend Reservoir, finally calling off the search due to darkness and thunderstorms in the area. The search resumed at sunrise Wednesday morning. A spokesperson with the regional FAA office says air traffic controllers sent out a bulletin that the plane was missing about 3:55 Tuesday afternoon. Shortly after, they received a 9-1-1 telephone call saying a plane had crashed into the Toledo Bend Reservoir. Multiple agencies were involved in the recovery effort, as search and rescue reportedly set up headquarters in the Indian Mounds community, East of Hemphill off of FM 3382. The plane, reportedly an SR22, is listed as belonging to MCAIR LLC of West Memphis, Arkansas. It was traveling from Tupelo, Mississippi on its way to David Wayne Hooks Airport in the Houston area. An NTSB official said the plane traveled in a straight arrow direction for an hour and a half with contact with an FAA tower before taking a nose dive into the water. They say thay is very unusual and something they will be looking into as they continue to investigate.Investigators also say the plane was equipped with a parachute that was never deployed.

Well, I'm just hanging out with Chewy, waiting for my son to get home from school outing so we can go to boyscout camporee - of course it's overcast, big storms coming, and temps to drop all weekend after a nice couple of weeks. I think this is one of those things where whatever can go wrong will go wrong? So, just stopping in for a quick cup of joe, a donut and to say hi and I hope you all have a great weekend! Doug, do you think Walt Kelly would have a good reason for those amazing tomatoes? :-^

Sir James, you keep the boys in line and whenever I get back I'll bring some butter pecan icecream. Better go over and help Kurt clean out those leftovers. CSX - you know where those volunteers come from? Is the grass like REALLY green in that area? Nice pic, Jeffrey -- hope they find out the cause of the deaths. This happened before and it turned out he plane had lost pressure and everyone passed away while it was on autopilot.... Dennis, when he is done at your house, could you send that guy over to my house, the shower is acting up now.... TTFN Have a great weekend, guys!

Good evening. Doug, I went there to the site for those K-Line Plymouth sets and was about to order one...then it occured to me. I have the Wisconsin Central set and, while it would be a great deal for the KCC set, I really don't need one and besides, how many trains can I have without having the trainroom finished. I figure I am better off spending the money on scenery and shelves for the train room. Still is a great deal though. As for the couplers, I think mine came with a lionel type knuckle coupler in the package. May have been the porter set, not sure.
WIfe is coming down with the crud now, so I guess I have some work to take care of. Also, she came up with a honey do list....buy/install a new dishwasher and put a new storm door on the back of the house. Also, have a tree to cut up and burn in the back pasture. IS there enough time in the day?
God Bless,
Dennis

EVENING ALL
Dennis, the dishwasher thing has become the norm. Repair cost just doesn't pay to fix. Everything now is throwaway as we all have known for some time now. I hope you and your household get well soon.
We got a temp of 80 today, very nice last two weeks, but its gone starting tomorrow cold air with rain headed our way. I did not run any trains today but did talk to my train friend about them so that counts.
All enjoy your weekend,,S.J.

It's never good when the phone rings at 6:30 AM when I'm just ready to get in the shower, oldest son called and really sounded beat down. It rained nearly 4" during the night and there basement was flooded, again -- 2nd time in 7 days. I cleared one obligation and was on the road by 7:45 AM and made it here by 10:15 AM. What a mess in their finished basement, very sad and since they do not have flood insurance (why? not even close to being in a flood plain) they will have to bite the bullet. He will have it fixed this time, same thing happened three years ago but not this bad. We worked all day pumping out water and cleaning, the whole neighborhood took a hit. Too much snow this winter and way to much rain this spring, fortunately it's turning cold tonight with winds at 15--20 mph and no rain in sight. It's a beautiful old home completely restored but did not have a sump, it will now.

The old back is tired but I know I will sleep well tonight, a job well done.

Wow, new TV works as good as or even better than the old one. Fell right asleep. Just woke up. :thumb: Jon, I got basement flooded during Fran. No power. I had sump pump [still do]. Floyd came and did not flood. I installed two 100 gph bilge pumps in the sump hole. Got auto bilge switch. One deep cycle battery on Battery Tender. Power goes out and big rain or hurricane, pumps keep the basement from flooding. Now with generator, they usually don't get used. I do test then occassionaly. Good luck with that one.
Sleep tight all.

Morning!
Jon, Sorry to hear about the basement.

Brutus: Praying for good weather on your camping trip. Don't let those kids get dirty!

CSXect: I ate half a quart of the grape tomatoes the other night... I looked down, and decided I better stop. The same thing happens with Blueberries.

Bride playing video games while I was laying track...both of us in a 10x12 room with a 4x7 layout, and a 3x5 desk...cosy! Need plastic pins to isolate all the blocks...

Nice to have her home, and not working for a change.

Morning all. Very blustery, grey and very cold today - dang it. Jon, sorry about that flood your son experienced. That's a tough call. Our sump was dead when we first got into the house- the inspector missed it- and I didn't realize it until it the pit flooded. Fortunately, the way the basement was graded, it wasn't bad.

Going to my train buddy's surprise retirement party tonight - he's getting a Lionel PS-4. It's huge. I met him for breakfast with some buddies and got him an MTH searchlight car he wanted that we had engraved. Too blustery to put down the fertilizer I guess. The lawn looks terrible. The kids running around really tear it up - rather have them running than a better-looking lawn I guess. Dennis, hope I can find a conventional coupler to use with the Plymouth.

Good evening all,

Jon, Sorry to hear about the son's basement. It happened to us back in 72, and I can still remember it like it was yesterday. The sump pump died and we had about 2' of water in the basement, what a mess. Now I always keep a spare on hand.

Dennis, hope I can find a conventional coupler to use with the Plymouth.

Doug, My Plymouths came with a conventional coupler in the box. It is an easy switch. Don't think the cars can be changed easily though. They do sort of couple to a regular Lionel type coupler.

Didn't plant my tomatoes in the garden yet. Have them setting outside the greenhouse for now. Still not sure about the weather. Getting some rain as I write this, first in about a week. We need it.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Busy day.

Planted more garden [now have 42 tomato plants, 33 squash and zuc, 12 cucumber, 8 cabbage. 15 oinons, lettuce, spinnish, raddishes, carrots and three short rows of corn] today as was to rain this PM. Only sprinkled. More for tomorrow and Monday is suppose to be a wash out. Hope we get a couple of inches [some did around us].

Dug a post hole in flower garden under maple tree [roots] and burried 4X4. Installed fancy bird house on top for Pam. Went to Miss Edna's and got new MTH catalog [throw up ;)].

Back to Lowe's Foods and picked up metal outside bench, Lowes Home Imp. and got insectcide for sprayer, seeds and bird food. Put together bench for Pam and is now outside at end of front walkway.

Settled down to watch TV. Ended up watching a late one, Queen. Always dislike the old bird over the Dianna thing until I first saw this movie. She did not know any better. It was the way she had been taught.
Now off to bed. Sleep tight and God bless.
