Good morning folks

It was 45 F as I headed out onto the roadways this morning. High will be 75 F.

Had a rough night at Cub scouts last night. I had to break the news to folks that in order for us to go camping everyone including adults have to have medical forms completed. Most people accepted this but a couple got down right upset over it. One of them was our Committee Chairman. He is the last member of the previous administration that screwed up the pack the past five years. He kept saying that it was never required in the past so why should we do it now. There were also a couple of other rules that we now must enforce that he was not happy with. Of course the biggest problem and why nothing got done correctly in the past is outside of some initial training none of the leaders had any additional training. Up until my wife and me getting the camping training no one in the pack had gotten it for at least five years. I knew going into the meetings that there would be a few people who would have problems and the Committee Chairman lived down to my expectations.

No modeling last night.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Well, had 4 hrs of 70 degrees yesterday before turning colder so that means it's ok to go out and get my lawn fertilizer. Have to break out the deck furniture too. Hope you are all having a good day.

John, thanks for the report! I could never get anything with the word 'Cub' in it. ;)

Doug--I need your Thomas help, his horn stopped the other day while the princess was here, suggestions?

You should consider a Cubbie Bear for the kids--consider it globalization for their environment  Poor kids, being denied real life disappointments sign1

Went to see my foot doctor this morning. He's very happy with the progress I'm making on my foot care. The wound has healed by another twelve millimeters. When I got home I checked the mail and found a padded envelope containing a slightly used Lenz LE1014-JST Drive Select decoder. Current rating is 1 amp continuous current and it has four function outputs. I'm thinking about putting it into the P2K E6 that I recently rebuilt. I must be doing something right. I've gotten three locos (two dummies and one powered) and two decoders in the mail in less than two months. One of the locos and one of the decoders were complete surprises, I had no idea whatsoever that they were coming.

Lionel also gave a nice presentation. Had four people there including Nick Ladd of K-line and Mike Reagan formerly of TAS.

Interesting....
So Lionel has Jon Zornacky, former president of Electric Railroad, now their Chief Technical Officer, and Mike Reagan from TAS....:thumb:
Expecting Great things electronically from Lionel in the near future!

Thanks for the information John.

Awaiting MIL visit...usually a LOT of work...She seems to think we are a B&B-L&D and she's invested in a suite.

Train board on hold to clean and re-arrange house to give MIL and SIL their own room. Just as we have low humidity & 70 degrees...perfect
weather to paint a 182 crane.

Well, tomorrow night I start in on my short course for fire dept leadership training. Not that I really need it but it's always good to go over material.

Good luck:wave:

A former boss I worked for used to be a fire marshel and another employee was a volenteer fireman.:thumb:

Had the Trans Am out today it needs some run time on it things were stiff and squeaky at first but the Ram Air engine still has that awsome rumble that only a muscel car has:twisted:

Still no change on the job front:curse: I have gotten so board being home and not working I decided to reasearch a business plan for a hobbyshop and man are comercial/retail spaces are expensive ranging from $7 to $15 per square foot per year and if you go for a large space say 3,000 to 5,000 square feet that is a heck of a lot money:nope:.

Jeffrey - nice pics for 2 days and also congrats on the foot, hope it keeps healing up for you. I think we got up over 70, Doug - it was still nice out when I got home. Kurt - interesting news, I hope this means big things too! Dennis, my TPC is with Fedex and is to arrive tomorrow - :thumb: Sir James - secret papers arrived, looks good :thumb::thumb: Will apply Turnip Transmogrifier ASAP and put you know where.

Just spent about 2 hours trying to tighten a bolt on a faucet :( Every time I tried to turn it, my wife would let go of the faucet. Finally, I just undid the whole thing and threaded it once away from the sink to see what was going wrong. The first 2 threads were crossed, of course :curse: Cut the heck out of my arm, but I got it threaded past that under the sink and then got my socket on it - much better. Then, I went to connect the bendy hose things and they are about 10 inches too long. Don't want an extra foot of "hose" on each side, so I'll have to pick up short ones tomorrow I guess. Really just wanted to be done. Have to be careful, because the copper supply lines on the actual faucet want to bend - don't want any leaks!

Oh, when the guy installed our dishwasher, he used some of this flexible steel tubing (the mesh stuff), like I just bought, but he had way too long of a piece. He wrapped it around and cabled tied it to one of the copper pipes. Since they are not both copper, is that safe? Is it going to corrode the copper faster?

Good night all. Been busy today. Serviced JD and mowed all the grass. Spent several hours at Town Hall. Got 4 baby geese at the pond. Sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite.

Brutus: I believe he installed plastic flex tubing with stainless steel braded jacket. Supposed to be blow-out proof. Yes it's safe.

Can you buy a couple sections of these, make a loop in them and attach to the base of the faucet connections?

Or check the base of the copper pipe from the faucet...should be a compression fitting. Brass collar and a nut on the cut pipe. You may be able to pull these off, and shorten the pipe with a pipe cutter to make it fit, and push the nut and the collar back on. Call me in the afternoon/evening if you need help. I'll be at the zoo in the am.

Sir James: I knew you wouldn't be able to hold out.

I thought I felt something early this morning.

The U.S. Geologic Survey reports that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 has struck the mid-west.

The USGS Web site says the quake was centered near West Salem, Illinois, or about 40 miles northwest of Evansville, Indiana.

No injuries or serious damage is reported here in the Wabash Valley. We have just received word that there is no phone service in Gibson County, Indiana.

The earthquake was felt as far north as Kokomo, Rochester and Warsaw in Indiana, as well as in Evansville and Indianapolis. It shook tall buildings in downtown Indianapolis.

In Illinois, a dispatcher at the Edwards County sheriff's department says only minor damage has been reported, but so far there've been no injuries.

About 15 miles from the epicenter a woman was trapped in her Mt. Vernon home by a collapsed porch but was quickly freed and wasn't hurt.

The quake shook skyscrapers in downtown Chicago, some 230 miles away.

News 10 continues to gather more information on this story.

Good morning folks

It was 45 F on the way in this morning. We are heading to 82 F.

No modeling last night again. My daughter had a softball game and I had to go with the wife so she could shop for a new outfit. Since we went to her favorite clothing shop I got to go to Mitchell’s Hobbies which is next store. I walked around and priced a few things but I am not ready to get anything until I get some stuff off the work bench. The one thing I would have bought; the 20 or 10 pack of Kadee couplers they were out of.

This weekend is another crazy one. My son has a baseball game tomorrow and my daughter has one Sunday. On Saturday my wife and daughter are going to the Daughters of the American Revolution luncheon. My daughter wrote a story about the American Revolution and it was chosen as the Chapter winner and will go onto to compete at the state level. She gets to read her story and receive an award for it. At some point we have the grocery shopping drudgery.

Train-wise I am in wait see if I have time mode. I would like to enter the locos into the computer inventory. I was looking at the Farm House Area and thinking I could add some things to it.

I hope everybody has a good day.

It will not stop raining here plus the furnace is still running wall1 without a doubt these last six months have been the worst I have ever seen in Iowa. Just got a call from oldest son in Cedar Falls, they have 2-3" of water in their basement, happened after mid night. It's a fully remodeled two story home with obviously poor drainage, this happened two years ago and they lost carpet and he went ahead and put down a snap together wood floor. I told him at that time to get somebody in there and fix it so it wouldn't happen again, maybe now he will. Lesson learned, maybe..........

Big charity ride in St. Paul tomorrow for Gillete Childrens hospital, typically 18,000 riders show up if the weather is decent. We will ride the Great River Road on both sides of the Mississippi River, looking forward to the day and the weather guessers are saying no rain, we'll see. Always lots of rail fanning on the river with several lift bridges, one more reason to go :thumb:
