Hello Everyone. That is sad to hear mikey. I just got back 2 hours ago from fighting a structure fire. Spent 7 to almost 8 hours fighting it. It is always sad when you can't save someones house no matter how hard you try. Trust me it was like that today. If I could have just gotten to the room where all the fire was, me and my crew would have been able to save the house.

Yeah I know that feeling.... I have a bunch of Firefighter friends.... You beat some - you lose some.... You can always replace a house... Life is way more important!!

Good Morning............
Going up to 70 with sunshine today. Looks like summer is really here. Buds on trees and cherry tree in bloom.
Busy today with shopping. No time for trains.
Be back later.
Have a nice day,
Chuck

Good morning folks

It was a chilly 40 F as I stepped out of the house this morning. We are supposed to be heading to 67 F and then into the seventies for the rest of the week.

My wife and son have decided that the backyard needs a fountain. So last night we trekked off to Home Depot and got one, and a light kit. Then they started talking about what it needed around the base and in the garden near-by. Luckily for me, the labor in all this, we have Cub Scout Den Meetings tonight so no time for special projects.

No modeling last night.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Sunny and windy in Chicago might hit 70 for the first time since Oct. - one of the longest stretches between 70s. Hope so.

I see MTH is bringing out a Coronation instead of the Flying Scotsman and that French engine off the Orient Express. Good thing for my wallet neither works on 027 curves. ;)

Glad you're feeling better, Chief. Dennis, sounds like a good plan for your bride.

quick stop by to say "Hello". Not much happening. Case was cancelled this morning, so I am off to Hobby Lobby to see if we have any additions to the offerings. Usually they have a few houses or built up layout items from Cornerstone. Perhaps I will take my daughter out for a Daddy/Daughter lunch and shopping trip. I can see how this will go....she will talk me into some place in the mall for lunch, only to say, "can we shop for SHOES?". I know what I am getting myself into. But I love it!

Hope Chief and Pam are doing well.

I look forward to a York Report soon from you lucky guys who are getting to go. Have a safe trip.
God Bless,
Dennis

Afternoon. On the run out the door. Meeting at Town Hall soon but found out Big Mayor's meeting is this afternoon instead of tomorrow. Had it on calendar wrong. Phone call reminder got me straight. Feeling a lot better. Later.

Good evening guys,

Spent the day at TCA openhouse. Not a lot that is new.

S helper had a display table of their S gauge products.

Ross Switches had a display of switches, a turntable and a transfer table. The turntables are now available for shipping but not with the automatic indexing. In my opinion you don't need it. It can be slowed down so slow that indexing is not a problem, really smooth operation.

Just trains had a display of the former Korber building line, they now call it Kor buildings I think. Some nice stuff. They are still deciding how they will offer some of the stuff, prepainted or unpainted. Will also offer Fronts and maybe partial side walls to construct background buildings.

Atlas had a display of the newest road names available for some of their products, there was one ugly black engine there with a white horse on it, forget what road name was one it.

Williams had a nice display of their UP heritage diesels. And they had new Williams by Bachman catalogs. Quite a few new road names on the familiar Williams engines.

Weaver had two of their Canadian National Steamers, very nice, and some of their new buildings, also nice but pricey.

Mike Wolf (MTH) gave a nice presentation about what is coming down the road. Say what you will, he certainly does not lack for enthusiasm for the hobby. He pointed out that the foreign engines in their new catalog are not there just for the US market but also to fill a void in the European market. He claims that one in five families in Europe are interested in trains, much higher than in the US. Also showed their 3rd HO engine and claims they are working to put it all in N guage as well. He didn't bring a lot along to show, it is all at York, but gave a general state of the hobby talk. Very interesting.

Lionel also gave a nice presentation. Had four people there including Nick Ladd of K-line and Mike Reagan formerly of TAS. Showed quitte a few of the new items in their latest catalog. The new starter set 0-8-0 is very nice. They did point out that there is two levels of this engine. The basic one in the cheapest starter sets does not have all of the valve gear action nor does it have an operating coupler on the front that the better one has. He said that one of the reasons that they are switching to this engine in the starter sets is to make it easier for young children to put the engine on the track.

Oh, and I bought my wife an autographed Cuboose.

The new TCA bear. I think I mentioned before that one of my train buddies' granddaughter won the 'name the bear contest' with "Cuboose" She was there today to have her picture taken with the bear designer.

Probably won't get back on the forum till Friday evening, tomorrow will be a busy day at York!

John, certainly was a busy day for you. It sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for the report and I hope you have even more information come Friday.

Hope everyone is doing well tonight. I have been trying to catch up on my rest and also trying to read up on some information. Got a book in the mail today while the wife was here....glad it wasn't another train! Still on restriction.

God Bless,
dennis

SOunds like a great day John, wish I was there! I showed that Cuboose flier to my kids a month ago (?) and they weren't interested. Too bad, because I previously preorder the Lionel bears thinking they would just magically appear in their bedrooms? Maybe I"ll just keep them for me then? I bet that doesn't happen.

Sorry so late, was mowing lawn and stuff before. TTFN!

Good night all. John F, thanks for the York info. Glad I was not there to make Mikey boy mad. "Make all these great engines but can't get your switches to work worth a "fiddler's toot." I did do a good job for the tains today. Our CAMPO meeting showed proposed commuter rail system route. I "jumped their guns" for no taking it out of the city limits and going north to where the communters are. That is why the Feds said no to the last proposal. Sleep tight and God Bless.

Did someone say "Toot"? Anyway, hope everyone is having a blessed day. I have a few things to take care of, but should be a good one. Plan is to do some layout wiring and diagram writing. I have to look into buying some TPCs and perhaps a few other control items.
Gotta run,
God Bless,
Dennis
