No, it's HO, the track is code 70 flex.

Here is another photo of the loco, a rare unit, anybody know what it is?

as far as I can see, the front looks like a low short hood for any early RS ALCo unit (RS1 through RS11 me thinks), while the long hood looks like an EMD SW or ALCO S small switcher. Overall, I'm thinking this is an ALCO S switcher with the cab moved foward a bit and the short end of an early RS unit added on to compensate for the now exposed end.

Been awhile since I stopped in, some very nice photos. I'll add this one, I like the way the lights look.

I'd guess that it's an NW5, but I'm not exactly what you'd call a diesel expert. Where's Triplex? ;):-D:-D

Wayne

I do believe the good doctor is correct.

According to Wikipedia this is the description.

Description
The NW5, like the NW3 that preceded it, was basically an EMD NW2 switcher hood, prime mover (a V12 EMD 567 diesel engine) and main generator on a stretched frame and riding on road trucks (the standard EMD Blomberg B design).
Large, road-sized fuel and water tanks were fitted between the trucks under the frame. The NW5 design was also fitted with a Steam generator (railroad) to heat passenger cars. The NW3 had this fitted in an extended cab and extended hood section, and the NW5 had a standard EMD switcher cab about three-quarters of the way down the frame, above the inboard axle of the rear truck, and a fairly high short hood on the other side to take the steam generator.

Yes it is indeed a NW5. Here is a link to the Wikipedia article. I note that their history does not incluse this unit owned by Mass Central.
EMD NW5 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While at work today I visited the Atlas forum (by the way, can't get on the Gauge at work, it is blocked due to the chat room) and saw that the owner, who had comminsioned the job (done by Blake Tater, who brought the unit over for a photo op) has posted proto photos and model photos, here is a link to that:
Atlas Model Railroad Forums

Hmmm, I notice the address for the link is the same as the address for the site itself, I think it will not get you where you need to go. Look for thread called "newest acquisition, MCRR NW5" or something close to that. Many nice shots of the model there.

Here is one more photo of the loco in a recently completed area of the layout. I've taken a bunch of pics of my steam collection in this area, thinking about making a thread for them if you think there would be any interest.

Wathers mill kit split into two!

I split off the shed part, fitted a new wall, ramp & inside flooring. I still have some finish work to do. This is for my new layout.
