Peter, thank you for making things work.
Moderators (Andrew, Mikey, Don, Wayne, anyone I'm forgetting), thank you for being an effective police force to keep it well oiled.

Right now, I'm going to go visit your sponsors...

Yes it was allot of work Peter did and I commend him for sticking it out. I am one of those ones that don't like drastic change and this was on my mind for a while now.

Anyways I have talked myself into a corner enough here, now its time to walk through the paint and get back to modeling.

What was your's?

SPmodoc, I don't want to pick on you, and I don't know if I'm interpreting your post the you intended it...but the last one sort of seemed a touch insulting to a guy I've seen on here since before the zealot-gauge merger. I think well of him...and would be completely shocked if he had any sinister purpose.

Further, Peter is a card modeler. He takes part in the forum and it is an extension of his hobby. If zealot became a valuable website for him and he chose to sell it, I'd be happy for him. Peter's making this work without annoying pop-ups and all sorts of other things. I wish everyone whom helped me with my hobby could get rich in the process...because I appreciate the services they supply. The gauge is the best multi-scale forum on the web (imo). I consider it way better than MR's website. Further, the gauge has not cost me anything...therefore, it is the most efficient means for me to enjoy my hobby if quantified as fun per $.

If your post was purely good natured, fine. But in the event that it was not, I just wanted to share my view point.

Michael

Personally, it's really not your business :D

But for the sake of the general membership.. All these names you see here,...
http://forum.zealot.com/showgroups.php (Except for peter)
are UN-Paid staff... not one of us gets any compensation for doing this, except for these fantastic compliments.. This is why we gratefully acknowledge them.. we have no other outside "meter" of our work and time spent here.

Peter runs the board, he spends the money - he reaps what he can out of it....

As far as personal "payment" as you ask????

I'm here a few hours a day, doing what I have to, as one of the Administrators... (I have a full time job 40 hours a week) I volunteer my free time here (as all the Mods and ezdays - the other Admin) do...

What I actually paid, when The Gauge became Zealot was a bit more personal...... I choose to tell who & when I want to... :D :D :D

................ but let's just say it was more than I thought I'd pay........

But I enjoy every minute of this board.. I have to enjoy being here else I wouldn't be doing it for free... I donate my valuable time, every day 7 days a week, so you all can enjoy your visits here.. and I can enjoy mine :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks again to to all -- for all the kind comments.......:wave::wave:

Sorry, it seemed like a strange thing for Ngauger to say and I could'ntt resist, sorry if that's a sore toe or something. Seems that if you talk openly here or make a small joke you get took to task for it. I think I will just go back to just lurking as this place feels a bit tense. Adios

Hay look. It's A top notch place to go on the web.:patriot1: The people here(the members and staff) are all A+. I for one would not be bothered by a few more adds here to defer the costs of running this site, it would be nice if they were railroad (model or real) related.

Hmm I wonder what this means, I guess we are a commodity, not a community.

I see the community as the members who post and enjoy the hobby together in this setting. Owned by anyone else I believe the people who enjoy getting together here would still a Gauge make.

:v8: Sorry Eightyeightfan, I couldn't remember if you were a moderator or not. Honestly, I nearly missed one of the other moderators, except that he'd already posted in the thread :violin1:. Besides, you have a new avatar pic...so I'm confused :violin1:.

So thank you too! :)

I believe that I will be fairly well backed up on this.

"if you talk openly here or make a small joke you get took to task for it."

I recall numerous threads where folks talked quite openly and were not taken to task for it.

And it's hard to find a thread that doesn't have at least one small joke.

The difference, my friend, is that the speakers and jokers followed the one single rule (see earlier post), and they made sure that the recipient of that remark KNEW that it wasn't a put-down or snide remark. (see post about smileys)

It's always easier to slather on some extra grease in the beginning than it is to buff out the unintentional gouges afterwards.
