I'm not sure if I follow you on this one. Or maybe that is exactly what you were referring to as redundant.
We have had a lengthy discussion regarding the costs of maintaining this forum, along with another one re the actual usefulness of "signatures.
One of the primary functions of the forum is to allow modelers to show their work; therefore, using up bandwidth with lists of links as "signatures" is both redundant and wasteful. If you have work you want to show, by all means do so. If you wish to be permanently referenced, there are a number of sites that do nothing but that. This site could probably post such a list just as easily.
I don't follow "signature" links because too many of them lead nowhere, are outdated, discontinued or downright misleading in terms of content. I would rather the link be posted in a specific context, as part of a member's presentation of their current project, for example.
It's ironic when a member posts a brief response, and 75% of the remaining space is taken up by lengthy lists of links to sponsors, hobbies and other interests. That is not exactly a "signature".
