Good morning.

It's 53 here in west-central Louisiana this morning under a clear sky. Unfortunately it won't stay clear long. Expecting a high of 83 under a partly cloudy sky later today.

I had intended to take it easy yesterday but circumstances beyond my control intervened and I ended up mowing my sister's yard which is almost as big as my parents front yard and five times as rough. So today I'll be taking it easy.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 4/7/2008

Wind Chill: 53°F
Humidity: 91%
Dew Point: 51°F

So Far Today
High: 57°F
Low: 53°F
Rain: 0.00"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 3mph N

Today High: 85 Mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs in the mid 80s. Light and variable winds becoming east around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight Low: 60 Partly cloudy. Lows around 60. Southeast winds around 10 mph.

Morning all. Nice weather weekend in Chicago. Missed posting yesterday - after working at church, spent the afternoon making Bloody Marys and chatting with a few friends. Colder today - might get snow next weekend - just as I put away the snow-blower. LOL. Have to plan for the bride's birthday next weekend. Nice Garrat. Looking at the ETS (Weaver) website, that's one expensive engine.

Morning all. Rushing to meetings [all afternoon and tonight]. Town phone calls all morning. Just got interrupted with one while trying to post this. Rainy and cloudy. Need to get into garden as plants are getting too big. Moved them from greenhouse to shelter. Later.

Well, another day, another emergency. I am not complaining, I am well compensated for my work, but we usually prefer it on a scheduled basis. I did not get any layout or doll house work this weekend, but I hope to this week will allow me to do some.
Chief, between the mayor duties and the part time work you do, you will never get the prairie scenicked....oh wait, you don't care, you like to run your trains!:thumb: I am not a politian, and I don't have a part time job, but I still can't find the time to spend on the layout. I need to get back into my 15 minute routine.

Good Afternoon Everyone. A beautiful day here today. A little chilly when the wind blows but other than that it is great. Supposed to be a warm week this week. Hopefully spring is here now and we will not get any more snow. I just finished up a class this weekend for underground mining. Had to go 2 weekends in a row to get the class done. But in the end it was a good class. I can now go anywhere around the county I live in and apply for a job. No matter if it is underground or even at a coal cleaning plant. Well going to go for now.

Have A Great Day Everyone

Hello everyone. Hope you all had a nice weekend. I had a busy one. I got another shed all cleaned out (still didn't find my HO trains, maybe in the attic) & I finished the track on my "trial" layout. Now I can RUN TRAINS, WHOOPEE!! I did learn a few things which will help when I start my HO layout. The most important thing I learned is that I do want an HO layout, N is just too small for me to work with but it is done now & at least I can play with trains. I will post some pictures when I get them off my camera. It did not take as long to build as I thought it would thanks to tips from the people on this forum.

Worked on the bench work a little to day, got side tracked as mom was working to hard at her house had to stop and help her as she was having a sugar problem she seems alright now:thumb:

A carpenter I am not but know how to do better on the remaining tables I do:mrgreen: will post pics later. I am thinking of useing 4x4 as legs that will bolt on to tables. All wood so far has been recycled from old basement walls.

Just got off the phone with my bride, we got our Fed check today and before I could say anything, she said "Forget it, you are still on train restriction". I guess she is right, once I get the layout mostly done, I am sure some more purchases will be in store. Oh Well, guess I have to get back to work.

Well, now that that's out of my system, it's time to complain about my day. First off, I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been hit in the head by the Wabash Cannonball or something. Then I decided to have nothing but coffee (which I hate) for breakfast, thinking it would wake me up--and forgetting that caffeine doesn't affect me at all. School, well...it's school. High school. And now I'm home, putting up with a hyperactive younger brother, a dog that moonlights as a one-animal demolition crew, and a mother that can't cook. Oh, yeah-and I can't relax myself by working on my layout because it doesn't exist, and won't exist until at least this summer, when the attic space off of my bedroom will (hopefully) be redone. And this is a good day.

I need a hug.

PRR man, but you do have plenty to be thankful for. You have a roof over your head, even if your head does hurt. You have food to eat, even if your mom isn't a great cook, you have intelligence to go to high school and learn at least the basics enough that you can take the time now to plan a fantastic layout that by the time summer does come, you will have something to work with and hopefully, you won't need to do too much experimenting when trying to build it. As one of the guys I work with has said numerous times... "It could always be worse". And, it can. With what I do, death is always around the corner. When I am tired, having one of those stretches where I haven't seen my family in a few days because I have been operating for the past 40+ hours, I look down at the patient and am thankful that it is not me needing this operation. We are all blessed.
I wish you well, but just remember to be thankful for what you have.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good evening,

Weather here was cool, cloudy and with a little rain. While I was working out at the fitness center at Masonic Village, some genius decided to have a Fire Drill. Ran everyone outside, even had a few old (older than I) in their bath robes out there. wall1 Just glad I wasn't in the middle of a shower. As usual after a two hour workout, I am shot for the rest of the day.

Got my RMC today, some neat articles in it as usual. An add for HO trains with Major League Baseball Logos on them.

Stopped in at Barry's train shop today, he had a nice A-A PRR E-7 set in Brunswick Green with Legacy, but I held out and didn't bring it home this time.

Good evening,

Weather here was cool, cloudy and with a little rain. While I was working out at the fitness center at Masonic Village,
Jeff are you a lodge member? A friend awhile back tried to sponser me but I was not interested(Church frowns on secrative sociaties). It is good to have a friend that is a mason or shriner :thumb: they do a lot of good as an organization.

PRR man, life is tuff except for minor anoyances- it is all minor anyoances:mrgreen:, I wish I could go back and redo high school as I could have gone on to MIT, however went to DeVry twice have assoc. In electronics and a B.S in technical management. When education comes directly from you own pocket you tend to take it more serious:shock: Even if you never go to collage it is a good idea to keep learning on a daily basis.

Spankybird: I can see British diesel and probably a steamer in the pictures. The diesel is a class 20, originally an English Electric Type 1. They were introduced in 1957; not sure how many left. 1000 hp, 73 tons.
(The "type" was related to power and ranged from 0, the smallest switchers, up to 6, the current biggies).
If you give me closer pictures, I can give more details.
And you know Annie and Clarabel, I hope?

Was reading the coffee pot when the phone rang and it was RT! Nice talking to you sir! Just got kids to bed and finished reading all the posts, soon off to bed, so good night folks. Chief and Dennis, I'm headed over to Sir James to catch up with Kurt and Doug, but I'll swing by and drop off a piece of cake special at your houses. I said ALL were welcome, but maybe I should have said Y'ALL ALL are welcome??? I'll even throw in some root beers. Too bad I don't have any of that peanut butter pie, Dennis - that was some good stuff!

Nothing today but scouts, school, work and emails, so I'll just have to catch up tomorrow - sorry folks.

PS - nice pic Jeffrey! I had 3 tacos for lunch on Saturday (they were about 200 calories each - ouch!). Why don't you join us at Sir James' house for some desert? It's just a few minutes from your house, I think? (LOL - we all live like 1000 miles apart, except for Kurt and Sir James!)

Home from meetings. Only one tomorrow and then Dr's apt. Do have a RBC grand opening tomorrow at 5:30 [free snacks :thumb:]. Frankie's dog [Sheriff] is real sick. Low blood count and cell count. DR. now thinks [after some time of treating him wrong] he might have a tick born disease. Curable most of the time. He is now back eating people food but not dog food. Had quit eating. Off to bed after some popcorn.

Chief, best wishes for Frankie and his dog. Having been through a lot with our dogs this past year, it hurts when they hurt. Like our kids. Good luck with your appointment at Doc's. Enjoy that grand opening...they aren't going to make you wear that silly outfit again are they?
God Bless,
