Crimson Skies

Finished working out the kinks on the fury in both scales, also made stands for them.

Will probably work on the brigand and warhawk next.
Although before finding this forum I was finalising my model of "The Workers Voyage" a Russian passenger zeppelin and a cargo zeppelin, both are from the PC game.

wow really well done. Back in 2000 i got ahold of a calendar of teh aircraft from a friend of mine who did the printing. anyway got ahold of fasa and they sent me some 3 views and I did the brigand(will post a sample scan) and ended up selling a foam glider to microsoft through whitewings for e3 that year. Tried to talk them into putting papermodels on the cd or online but never got them to go that far. Let me know what you think.

While most of my original files seem to have become corrupted.
I did find a progress save for an almost completed Bloodhawk.
So I did a quick edit and exported it into PD2.

But I would not get too worked up about it.
After all the Bloodhawk is nothing more than a clone of the Henshel P.75, and I am sure someone has done a better job of turning it into a card model than I have.

Curtis - Wright J2 Fury Download

Alright here it is, the Curtis - Wright J2 Fury.

http://forum.zealot.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=66897&stc=1&d=1207572278

Everything is laid out in a logical staight forward manner.

I am not doing an instruction sheet. However if there are too many people who are having difficulty then I will release one.

Currently I have no plans to do any textures. There are too many different factions and pirates to choose from. But do not frett, I will release a painting guide and decal sheet soon.

This model is set at 1:32 but if you print two sheets per page you will get a lovelly sized 1:72 model that is quite strong.

Although I have made a cradle style display stand. I don't want to release that just yet I recently had an idea for a special stand that is more suited to Crimson Skies.

Thanks foxmalcolm! That's a beautiful model. I have an idea concerning the instruction. You can release the PDO file, looking at it it's usually easy to see how the things are put together.

I hate to disagree, but yours would appear to be the first. I've been looking for awhile, but I'm an "old guy" so my search & find skills aren't as sharp as the youngsters. I would gladly welcome a Bloodhawk/P.75 in any form. Years ago, I found a P.75 'mod' for FlightSim, but my CAD knowledge was virtually nil in those days, so I had no idea how to convert the FlightSim mesh into something compatible with Peps. So post with confidence...

Oh!
I kind of figured that with all of the hype that secret nazi airframes have generated over the past few decades that someone would have made paper versions by now.
I mean, there are many sites about resin kits and scratchbuilt versions even a few flight sim models of the aircraft. http://www.inpayne.com/models/hs_p75a.jpg
Henschel Hs P.75 Luft '46 entry
I did a little research online and I was able to find "mention" of a paper model of the Henschel P-75. but no site currently has anything.
I'm glad to have helped revive a lost model.

Crimson Skies Text

Wow this board has been quiet!

Me ? . . . I have a couple of Crimson Skies related projects I am working on at the moment.

I started building the bloodhawk but stopped halfway through (The half cutout printouts are still on my desk) I think the ability to turn my 3D models into paper models has sorta turned my head!. < < head swell! < < sign1

I am also making the CCCP Workers Voyage (zeppelin), and two versions of the Cargo Zeppelins (1 is whole the other is docked at the repair station, damaged).

Also because finding a font similar to the one used in Crimson Skies is tricky and next to impossible. I am making the font using the title as a guide.

What do you think?
http://forum.zealot.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=68036&stc=1&d=1209602447

Should I bother having the logos of the different groups in the font?
Hmm maybe not . . . but I think I will put in the pilot wings and skull'n'cross bones.

**update**
Had a closer look (pulled the pdf apart) at the game manual pdf for the PC version, they use an altered version of the font Binner Gothic MT.

Looks like some nice models on the way foxmalcolm, got any pix of the Airships you have in Dev..??

RE The Devastator ~ Sorry for the delay guys ~ Its 99% finished, just tidying up the assembly guide and numbering the parts etc... I've had to abandon most of the optional extras + alternate colour schemes i had in mind, time isn't on my side at the moment. * I've had to do a few minor modifications and I'm not going to be able to test build the complete model... If anyone has the time to test build it for me + take a few pics to include with the kit..? PM me with email addy if interested.

I've been experimenting around with designing a desert fox plane from the Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge game. It look very much like a P-40 Warhawk just with the wings and cockpit moved towards the rear of the fuselage. There are also winglets on the main wing tips, and a V-tail on the fuselage.

Foxmalcolm : Are you going to release the Bloodhawk PDO ?

I think it looks "better" in the angular/faceted pepakura format (your pic) than the smooth round /oval shape of the "solid" kits.

Soon, I am still building the beta model, as I said earlier I stopped halfway through, will recommence again shortly.
When I do I will release pdo.

I have something for you.

I have been searching the net for various Crimson Skies stuff for a while now, but this was the first time I saw this site
Crimson Planes
It shows how they made they Desert Fox and even includes the texture files!
HOW COOL IS THAT!

Hey Foxmalcolm,
Thanks so much for the web link, but where did you find texture files on their site? I seem to be missing them.

foxmalcolm

-=3D Modeler=-
Sorry , they are only thumbnails of the textures. But they show you how its done which is what is important

Great site Foxmalcolm.. thanks for the link ~ how cool would it be to design aircraft for a game.. ~ just btb.. Despite searching till my fingers feel off, I didn't find any ref to extracting CS (PC) game models. It was never possible ?

Hey Paladin.. Looks like a nice plane.. got any pix of you Dev so far..?

+ OT ~ I'm guessing from your avatar you take to the wild blue yonder from time to time? I don't suppose any of your mates / someone near your local field has built / flies one of these?
~ I'm seriously considering building the P-40.
