Athearn - horizon?

For some reason, I got a Horizon hobby catalog in the mail today. I have never ordered from them. Perhaps Horizon got my name from another list. No worries - I still like to browse.

But the catalog is all RC planes and cars  Didn't they buy athearn a few years back? How come I don't see any train stuff in there?

Kevin, i am guessing your right, they probably got your name from some list. your ALSO right about Horizon buying Athearn:thumb: , seems odd no trains were in it though:confused: . i have been to Horizon's website, i would NEVER buy from them:cry: , you can find Athearn stuff MUCH cheaper at other places on line:winki: . would have been nice to have the trains in the catalog to browse though.

You can't buy from them unless you own a hobby shop in a store front. They put list prices on their site to let you now what the manufacturers suggested retail price is. Hobby Shops pay the wholesale price, and many pass on a discount to the customer.

Horizon still specializes in RC. Doubt we'll ever see Athearn in a Horizon catalog, just as I hope we'll never see Horizon RC stuff in an Athearn catalog. I've been getting them for over a year now myself, never much more then a recycling bin filler for me.

I forgot, Larry, you can order parts direct. They just won't sell complete locomotives or rolling stock direct. They want to protect their hobby shop customer base. Since most hobby shops don't stock the parts, the only ways you can get them is either by ordering direct or by doing a special order through your local hobby shop.
