Dennis, "what game to buy" just ask your kids they will tell you which one they like. All are fun, I have a PS2 as its all the excitement I need, and the games are ten dollars less than the same game for a PS3.

CHIEF, yes I read it this morning before it was deleted. FUNNY, I think that brown spot got bigger.

Morning all!

A windy day here today. 70 and sunny predicted.

Pool sweeper booster pump quit. Trying figure out if it is jammed or if the motor start capacitor gave out. Have to go to Home Depot to get a hose connector so I can remove the pump and still let the main pump operate. These pumps are a pain to work on as one has to remove the impeller to take it apart and guess what - the impeller is plastic - and guess what - it is always jammed and usually breaks. Then you get to buy a new impeller at pool supply store inflated prices. I wonder how much it costs to remove and fill in a swimming pool?

Doug, Chief, Dennis, LAZ - Guess I missed the hubbub here yesterday?

Kurt - exactly which Kalmbach book was that? I looked on the web site and I didn't find anything - maybe I didn't look in the right place?

Have a great day all!

Greetings,
Yep, still around, sure will be glad when all this coughing is behind me, and have a full day's of energy. Had to come to the office today, Kay was working at my desk, looked down and there was a lizard sitting on top of the tower next to the desk. Now busy "Lizzard Looking", never seems to be boring.

Finding some time to get with the trains, though. Got to rest up today, want to go to club tomorrow night.

Checked out LCCA site no mention of 2009 Convention yet, that would be good. --- Sacramento

Hello everyone,
40 degrees here this morning & I am freezing. I hope it warms up soon. I'm not used to this weather in March.
Wow, very crazy day yesterday. First my boss had a valve break at a condo & we had to shut down water to the whole building (I work at a plumbing company). Then he went on his next call & broke a water line on the 6th floor of a condo, flooded that unit & the one below. Thank God for insurance. This is the first time he ever flooded a condo & he has been in business 22 years. It was a very bad day. I do hope today is better.
When I posted on The Gauge that our only hobby shop was out of track nails jmurphy148 (John) offered to send me some that he had but didn't need. I received them yesterday. He wouldn't even let me pay for sending them. There are some of the nicest people in the world on The Gauge. I hope to "pay it forward" some day. I can't wait to run some trains.
Hope everyone has a nice week.

Marcie, have to agree with you on the kindness of the folks here. The Best!

Don, glad you are on the mend. See, you stay away for a few days and all heck breaks loose...you were missed. On that earlier post, I spoke of a time that I went where I don't like to go. I try to stay above things, but when people get down right mean towards others, I jump in.

Well, it looks to be an easy day so far...where's that wood I am supposed to knock on? Anyway, with spring break in these parts, lots of folks head out of town. We try to keep a light schedule and only do emergent cases. It taxes the resources a lot less.

Hope everyone has a good one.
God Bless,
Dennis

Goodafter noon everyone. It is a nice day here today but that is soon going to change here tonight. We are supposed to get a mix of snow and rain. But other than that is has been a great day so far today. Hopefully summer will get here soon and the cold weather will be gone.

Dennis--

The game of choice today seems to be the Wii by Nintendo. Our youngest son, the bachelor, has one and let me tell you, it's great fun. He brought it home Thanksgiving, Christmas and was ordered to bring it to our oldest sons home for Easter

The good news is that it's very family orientated and you can get a bit of a workout. There have been several news spots on national TV about how they are using them in nursing homes and the residents absolutely love them.

The bad news, they are hard to find. I am looking for two consoles, one for us and one for our older son's family, I spent about two hours yesterday talking to folks that I thought might be able to do me a favor, no luck. They are on Ebay but who wants to pay 4X the cost? I think I'll be able to find at least one within the next few weeks, hope so.

The serious gamers seem to go for the Xbox 360, better graphics, more choices, available BUT not interactive like the Wii. Some folks get tired of waiting for the Wii and go with PS2 or Xbox, we will wait.

Good luck :thumb:

Thanks Jon. I just need to make sure some of the games that the kids are interested in are available for the Wii. Hard to know the mind of a 3 and 5 year old.

Laz...I didn't know you had not seen it. He used to have two or three videos. What did you do with them Jon?

Don...Coughing about kills me, now kidney stones have taken coughing's place.

Dennis....I heard today on the radio, about a church in Georgia that had made a movie and it had been distributed world wide. The church started out real small. Is that the church you attend?

Evening all. All animals and birds fed. Bought and stocked [in pond] 50 Channel Cats today. Watching TV now and relaxing. Had great lunch on Time Warner. Tomorrow, free pig picking by one of our developers. Got to find a free meal for Thursday as free breakfast on Friday. :thumb: Later

Facing the Giants is a great movie, Buckeye. Walmart has it for like $14?

Great layout Jon - I loved that video, although I have seen it before it has been a while. When you build a new layout, this one will be torn down I guess?

Dennis and Doug, the Wii is great. You can play all the gamecube games on it too and if you connect to the net (when you want - don't need to keep it on there, I think) I've read that you can download a lot of games from years ago on the older Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega, etc systems for the Wii. The picture is great. My boy really likes the new Mario game and also picked up Super Smash Brothers, but that's probably too old for the littler kids. I can't play it - it moves to fast and when the camera pulls back, I can't track my guy, LOL. Now, I can personally play Half-Life 2, Quake 4, Doom 3, etc -- all these shoot-em-up games, but my son just creams me on this game?! :eek:ops: Nintendo tends to be very kid friendly. Just don't get them Resident Evil or something, LOL

If you want to find one around us, then you need to show up really early at a Toys R Us on a Sunday, before they open -- that's what worked for us and our friends Fran and Gary. Ask them what day they put these out to sell and get that early? My wife walked into a Gamestop once just as they were getting a shipment.

Wii XBOX360 or PS3:confused::shock:wall1

Kids today are spoiled the amount choices of entertainment, when I was a kid you either had pong, atari2600 or one of the first personal computers such as TRS80 or TI 99-4a(I had all but the trs80)

I have no experience with the modern game systems but my sisters kids have both the Wii and a XBOX and they like the XBOX but they exercize with the Wii, Sister & bil like the Wii:rolleyes:

More rain in the forcast for Ohio here in "Rain"klin county:mrgreen:

Borther in law (bil) keeps saying his back yard is a nice place to build a garden railroad (wonder if that is a hint to design and build one?)

Thanks Laz and Brutus for the nice words about the layout video. The layout was fun to build and once I retired I really enjoyed working full time on it. Once I got the longer more narrow room it all came together and made more sense. We learned so much from the build that we would like to do one more and use those ideas, it will happen. It's kinda to bad we have to take this one apart but we don't have a choice.

Buckeye--I do have a couple of short videos, I'll look for those tomorrow, the old eye lids are getting heavy.

Jon,
I've got the perfect solution, just come on out to Sunny So. Cal., and build that layout out here !!!! No need to tear that one down! That would be terrible. You can't do that!!!! Just let me know when you are ready !!

In my day it was either the TV or the radio. Computers were big huge expensive things owned by big corporations and/or the government. The only pocket games were those little Chinese picture puzzles. The earliest Atari games didn't come along until I was in my early twenties.
