We've just had a tremendous weekend taking care of our granddaughter at her house. We found a real Carousel yesterday in a mall and of course she and Grandma got to ride it, may post some pics when we get home later today. I can't tell you how much we enjoy being grandparents, it's the best. We really enjoyed our two sons as they grew up, challenge's? sure, that's part of the journey but even though we were happy to see them leave home and continue their own lives it's all good. Wouldn't trade a minute of it----maybe an hour or two wall1

Warming up into the 40's today, WONDERFUL----- snow/sleet/rain tomorrow, double yuck. Florida bound on Tuesday bounce7

That's a GP40-2P.This particular model is a 30+ year old chassis sporting a 2 year old shell.

There was a bit of a derailment today. KCS 4740 jumped the track at the west turnout.

Jeff, did the drug test come back yet on that driver? Thanks for the info, I was tired last night and just got to reading back a little.

Sir James - Chile (Chili?) sounds great to me. We got another 2 inches of snow last night. When oh when will Kevin relent, close the door up in Alaska, and lift this white terror?!

Doug, been there and done that! My kids can't use the facilities without my wife or I having to snake their throne. They have to help clean up.

Watching Dr. Who and have dinner plans, but otherwise a nice, quiet day for once. Running laundry and need to get another 40 feet of wall insulated in the basement, so that should keep me busy. Hey - need to run trains, da!

Morning. Back from Sunday School. Jon, hope you hae a great and safe trip to sunnyland. Carry a jacket. Been known to suddenly turn cold there this time of year. Usually I would be in Orlando this coming weekend [Thrus thru Sun]. Not this year. Will be in Charlotte/Concord at BPS three weeks in a row [who knows as they may pull me and send me somewhere else]. Cool but sunny here today. Hope to do some upgrade kits today. Need to start seeds in greenhouse as I am behind on that project. Have a good one.

The wife and I spent the weekend in the Detroit area - attended a big train show on Saturday. Actually got some good buys on N scale automobiles and some rolling stock. As usual, most things are overpriced, but a lot of digging through bins paid off with a few really good deals.
I was intrigued by the number of large gauge stuff available - from Lionel and American Flyer to G gauge.
My most used tool for N gauge is a magnifier - that G gauge stuff sure does look appealing!

Afternoon all!

Quick stop today. Headed for Las Vegas tomorrow for the week for a trade show so I may not have time to read or post.

Glad they finally got the race started - but I don't have ESPN anymore so probably will not get to see the end.

We had the district competition kickoff for robotics yesterday. The students learned what the task and competition field look lie this year. They have 5 weeks to design and build a robot. 40 teams entered this year from all over the district (eight are mine). The event keeps growing - had 35 teams last year - 32 before that.

Headed for burgers with the Mrs. and daughter - son at church youth group tonight. Daughter has 7 pm meeting at her work place at the mall so she has to pass on youth group tonight.

Have a great evening and week all!

 A nice Feb day for Mich. sun and 38,same for tomorrow and then down the drain. the snow is melted and Mon. nite/Tues snow is right back.
The after church dinner went well,my wifes chile(I got the E this time Brutus)is all gone. There was food that I am not sure what it was, even though it had name tags,so I stayed with what I knew. A very nice social event. No trains today, but I did spend some time sorting cataloges and getting them in order by dates. They are getting so thick I gave all my MTH away.Never do that to my Lionels, they will be here when they take me away.Providing lighting doesn't burn the house down first. All you working souls get ready for monday,,,,S.J.

Good evening,

Chief, Looks like you might as well plant the seeds right in the garden.

Dennis, How large is your layout? 12 gauge seems like overkill to me. I used all 16 gauge except the feeder to the next room extension which is 14 gauge. Works fine for me.

We also had an after church dinner today. Not as well attended as usual, church attendance was also light although the weather was nice, but cold.

Roy, Have a nice trip. What is the Vegas weather like this time of year?

Aye aye, cap'n SJ - ready for work! Jeff, glad it was inside the area of the layout, hate to see that loco hit the floor. I need to be sure I put up some sides on my layout (lexan or something) after I creamed a passenger car earlier this year.

John....I'm glad to know that you are using 16 gauge. That is what I have used for years, but always kept reading that I should be using 14 gauge. Neeless to say I have never had any type of electrical or excess heat problems. My non cruise control engines all run smoothly even up grade. :thumb:

When you look at the wire MTH sells to connect to the track, it is 16 gauge.

I'm convinced there are people out there that think model train wiring is one notch below wiring the Saturn V Rocket. wall1

Roy....Please put me on your list of those that might put money in your hands in exchange for your train collection after you return from Vegas, broke.

 Hello everyone all fine here at the moment. Looked at my trains for awhile but that is about it. Did a lot of reading lastnight and today some C++ info and 2/3's of a motavational book on how to grow your money and reach the goal of "rich" which the book defines as having the money to meet needs and sometimes wants.....interesting but do not buy into the ball of wax.

still searching for the lost dewback found some more books and some odds and ends that are taking up space and collecting dust.:nope:

hope all is well with everyone

was watching smash-car(Nascar) a bit and they were having tons of caution and restarts and rain.:drag1:

Morning!
Brutus: Too much chili and not enough banilla.

Roy: Maybe youshould take a coulple of the PW's loco's to the casino...plunk one down on the table and say "This must be worth a mint! It's really heavy, and old!" Does it work??? I dunno..got any track?? Good luck!

Trains today! Turns out the switch I used for the siding needs work. It won't fully switch in either direction. I just screwed down all the track! DAH! Good think I have another working switch!

I need to do some more work on the photo challenge today as well...It might end up as a rendering. I hope that's ok. Having trouble building it. Geez, never thought I'd say that.
