Awesome pics as always Deano, history is always good too, makes it more interseting. I think alot of my family live or have lived around your area, so maybe next time I'm up there I can check some of it out:thumb::thumb::mrgreen:

Deano, with that weathering, it looks like its been in Brass Primer for some time (month or longer) outdoors. Can't wait to see it in WSOR colors though.

Great humor from the UP dispatcher too.

Deano, looks like you had a hell of a good time at the roundhouse. I like the Overland engine and the UP guy’s sense of humor :p. Keep those stories coming :thumb::wave::wave::wave::wave::wave:.

Roger, i bet your glad your not here for the winters now:winki: , broke the record this year for the most amount of snow recorded in this area...EVER:eeki::frowns: .

Wayne, THANKS! i was very fortunate, the WSOR guy was super nice:thumb: .

Sarge, THANK YOU! really, the railfanning in my area isn't all that great:eek:ops: , i just make the most of what i have to work with:winki::119: . about an hour from here is Rochelle Ill., now there's where REAL railfanning is:winki::mrgreen: , UP and BNSF:thumb: ...no BNSF pics taken by me though:eeki: , NOT that i have anything against BNSF:rolleyes: , but if i was taking pics of them, i might miss a shot i could have took of UP:winki::mrgreen: .

Josh, i don't think that engine has been in service for more then 3 weeks:confused: , it gets used daily, and we have had a VERY HARD, COLD and CRUEL winter this year, does a number on man and machine:winki::frowns: .

Kurt, i got a kick out of the remarks UP made on that engine too:mrgreen: . and THANK YOU for the words of encouragement:smilie: .

**Hey you guys, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your comments:smilie: , it really makes this thread worth doing:winki: .

After having spent 10 years in Madison...the only thing I miss is the crunch of snow under your feet...
On my way to a job site yesterday I went by the offices/shop of the local shortline that services the port, and there was an ol' SW just sitting there, all raggedy looking. Hopefully I can go back and take some pics this weekend...
Keep your tales of RR adventures coming....I'm sure we all enjoy them..!!

Ooppss...Naughty...Naughty...There should be a STOP sign at that intersection....

'nother thing...What is the roadname of that box car behind the engine..? Kinda hard to make out...

Looks like something that should be on my layout....Do you know if there's an HO version of it..?? :thumb:

Gus, theres quite a few places up here that have just a crossbucks where a siding track is:winki: , no stop signs with it.

as for the boxcar behind the engine(see pic below), it IS HO...since thats the scale i model in:winki::mrgreen: . A few years back i tried my hand at N scale, it only lasted just over two years and i had to go back to HO:thumb: , N scale is just way to small for me:winki::eek:ops: . the boxcar is one of three that my VERY GOOD FRIEND Wayne :worship: had made for me:mrgreen: , i consider myself to be the luckiest guy in the world to own three of Wayne's "home road"(EG-E) cars:winki::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen: .

Steve, THANK YOU:mrgreen: , for the complements:winki::mrgreen: .

CNWman, by gosh, your right:eeki: , that MP15AC's primer was close to your engines color:thumb: .

Great locos

You know, since the first time I saw a UP decked out in the "Buidling America" scheme, I've thought it was just about the sharpest looking thing out there. Those look really fantastic.

To bad not many of locos in that scheme are available (it seems they were pretty popular.) I'm seriously thinking about getting a couple of unpainted units and some decals from Microscale......

Thanks for sharing at least part of your roster.

Dan

THANKS Zachary! , GLAD you liked 'em:thumb: .
I'm not going to post ALL my "modern day" giants on this page, but here are a couple more:winki::mrgreen: .

Duuuhhhh...Someone here commented on the great detail you managed to put on your locos...considering they were N-scale....So I assumed you were still messing with the teenie trains....

The stop sign I refer to is on the intersection...not the crossing...

Regarding the Dr's cars...not only are they real masterpieces, but the line's name is really great...Has a real railroady ring to it...!! :thumb:

Gus, GOOD EYE on the intersection:thumb::thumb::thumb: , i never even noticed that:eek:ops: , i WILL put a stop sign there now:winki: , THANK YOU for pointing that out:thumb::mrgreen: .

As for Wayne's cars, "masterpieces" isn't a strong enough word to describe them:winki: , this emoction= :worship: is the closest i can come to describing his work:thumb: .

nutbar, THANK YOU! , i am so glad your enjoying this thread:thumb::mrgreen: . THANKS for posting the pics of Wayne's cars that you have too!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

MY MOST PRIZED FREIGHT I HAVE:winki::thumb: ....
these three cars are BAR NONE(ALL made 100% by doctorwayne), the most prized freight cars i have,:thumb: ...well, really #7804 was made for my dad, but it fit my layout time frame better then the reefer, so dad has the reefer now:winki: . notice the close up of #7801, see were it says 114 RVS in chalk, that means that car left on train 114 headed to the Rock Valley Sub:winki: , and see where it says "hi Big Ed" in chalk, Wayne said that was wrote by Cliff Sjobloms son Armdt, who got a summer job on the EG-E yard at East Dunn:thumb: . (those of you that follow the lore and tales of the Rock Valley Sub know that Cliff is Big Ed's cousin that lives in Canada:thumb: ). Wayne has added a MULTITUDE of reporting marks made specifically to suit the time frame my layout is, and to suit the Rock Valley Sub:thumb::mrgreen: . Also notice the extensive brake work on the reefer:winki: , and there are MANY, MANY more modifications that have been done to these cars to make them so FANTASTIC:bravo: . i consider myself VERY FORTUNATE to have ever met/made such a good friend as Wayne:worship: , THANK YOU WAYNE! :worship:

Deano, both you and Doc Wayne have extrordinary detail skills:inw::inw: I can only hope to some day have a tenth of your skills. You both have inspired me to finish projects that have been in boxes for years, if I ever can figure out how to take some decent pics I will share them with you all.

The Lena Show Recap...

Steve, Wayne DID do a STUPENDOUS JOB on those cars!:thumb::thumb::thumb: and your right, Big Ed IS happy.:winki::mrgreen:

Sarge, WOW:eeki: , i THANK YOU so much for putting me up there with Wayne:mrgreen: , but honestly, Wayne IS hands down the Master Modeler between the both of us:worship: , my work falls very, VERY short of his:frowns: ...but i really appreciate the very kind words, THANK YOU!

Hey Sarge, i am really looking forward to seeing your finished projects:winki: , Please, feel free to post 'em on here when you get some shots of them.:thumb:

******************************************************
THE LENA SHOW RECAP...
Well, it was a very hot 26 degrees out today:eeki: , what, you folks think I'm kidding:confused: , cripes, with all the single digit days we have had this winter, i was ready to break out the suntan lotion today:toug::119: . anyways, dad and i went to the Lena Ill. train show today. we feel this show is better then the big Madison show, its not as big, but we always leave there happy:mrgreen: . its hard to believe we find good deals on stuff because MOST of it is larger scale stuff, like S, O, and G scale, yet we ALWAYS find AWESOME deals.

Dad got the Milwaukee Road MP15AC with sound that he has been wanting:thumb: . i have been hearing a bunch of flack on the MRC sound decoders in these engines:roller: , we ran his for a long time tonight, and take it from me, they sound and run FANTASTIC!:thumb: for cripes sakes, what more could you want from them, the only way i see it could be better is if you went out and bought the real thing. it has 16 horn options and 50 bell ring rate adjustments. i went into the CV's and we decided horn option 3(value 3) sounded the best, and i set the bell ring rate to the value of 50, thats the slowest. MY ADVICE, if your going to get one of these, DON'T do what i did and buy it without sound, so you have to put the sound decoder in yourself, do yourself a favor and get it with the sound already in it, they are GREAT!:thumb::mrgreen:

The real shocker is ALL the items i am going to list that i got today cost me the grand total of less then $120.00 for ALL OF IT TOGETHER!:eeki: and EVERY ITEM was BRAND NEW, IN THE BOX! NONE OF IT WAS USED!:thumb:
PICS BELOW:
1- being a big Ford fan, i just had to get this 1963 Lincoln, check out those suicide doors & look, it even has the hood ornament, now how cool is that!:thumb::mrgreen:

2- take a good look at this RS1, because the next time you see it, it WILL BE a Union Pacific, JUST AS IT RIGHTLY SHOULD BE.:winki::mrgreen:

3&4- after buying these Illinois Terminal hoppers, and adding them to the other IT freight cars i have, i am 99.9% sure i now have an example of EVERY IT model made.

5- a Milwaukee Road ribside boxcar.:thumb:

6- UP is big on Vanderbilt tenders, and i plan on getting an IHC 2-10-2, but the tenders they come with are bigger then they really were on those engines, so i bought this medium size Vandy tender to go with it when i get one.:winki::mrgreen:

7- its been awful cold in dads basement, so i bought this sweatshirt with a UP SD70M on it to wear at dads on Saturdays.

ONE LAST THING...
Like a knucklehead i forgot my camera todaywall1 , on our way back home, we were 20yards from the WI state line, and i seen 3 UP GP's just about to enter WI:eeki: , if i had my camera i would have had the shots to show you folks.:eek:ops: MY ADVICE: always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS(did i say ALWAYS:119: ), TAKE YOUR CAMERA WITH YOU, you NEVER know when you'll need it.:winki:

till next time...Stay on Track!:thumb:

Hope you did not get sun burned :mrgreen:. This Lincoln looks fantastic. Is it really HO? Who makes it?

I know it is an disgusting sight, but I am still drooling over your (Wayne’s) EGE cars. They are slap fantastic. sabber.gifsabber.gifsabber.gifsabber.gif

Deano, my friend, you seem to be a very lucky guy to get only MRC decoders that work flawlessly. I have one MRC sound decoder and it is junk – it runs so bad that I cannot use it wall1wall1. After this experience and reading a lot about problems with these decoders, I would stay away from them.

Kurt:wav: , the Lincoln is made by Ricko:thumb: .

Is the sound decoder you have a MRC Brilliance? i have a pretty even split between Loksound & the MRC Brilliance line, that means just over 40 Brilliance sound decoders:winki: . out of the about 40 MRC Brilliance sound decoders i had 2 act up on me, but after setting them back to factory default they were fine:thumb: . BTW, ALL the sound decoders i have put in dads engines were MRC too:winki: . the line they have thats just a little cheaper then the Brilliance(i don't know what they call it) are great too:thumb: . on the other hand, MRC's "AD" series sound decoders ARE JUNK:eeki::frowns: . i have had OUTSTANDING good luck with the top two lines of MRC sound decoders:thumb::thumb::thumb: .

i guess its a matter of personal preference:winki: , take Any of Digitrax's NON sound decoders for example, you could NOT pay me to use those:eeki: , i tried 4 of them when i was first starting out in DCC and found every one of them to be junk:eeki: . different strokes for different folks:winki::mrgreen: .
