Building a Traction Layout

I can only imagine the careful work and patience that must go into a layout such as yours. It must, however, make it all the more rewarding to see all of your hard work payoff in such a spectacular way!:thumb: :thumb: Keep up the outstanding work!:) :) :)

Cabin looks cosy as the night draws nigh

Here is a dusk scene from the snow scene area.

Lots of things on the go, so progress is a bit slow at the moment

Here's a question: How hard is it to manually uncouple cars under wire? I was fiddling around with a Rix pick doing some switching last night and said "geez, if I had overhead I'd be slashing myself to ribbons right now!"

Very Christmas-y!!! I like it, especially the little snowman and the lighting in the building. Very warm and cosy looking. :thumb:

Understand that a combine carries freight so do boxmotors, and maybe the odd trailer, It isn`t necessary to uncuple like you would on the main line if that`s your power choice.
The juice jacks would do the big haul and I use the magnets like the mail line would in sidings, also a hands on tooth pick or dentist tool helps too.:D

Ah, there's the rub: I'm modeling a western U.S. electric, which was characterized by heavy juice jacks doing most of the freight work, rather than combines or box motors. I guess I'll just have to learn to get good with the Rix pick, or put down more uncoupling magnets!

The back drop that leads into my snow scene corner.

Still got to blend them in the bottom areas

It`s been a while since I updated this thread, I can now do so as I am on the last section .
This has been a project on hold until it hit me this week what I wanted to accomplish here.

So in goes the making of a road on a hill.
It is ready for the instafill to be spread in, next will be the scenery up from the rails and down the other side where there is located two portals.

Also there is a business section going in top and bottom.

This will take a while to finish as the overhead has to go in, you may notice I change the track a bit.

Last shots of the town platform

Looking good Chris!! I assume the two strips I see are to contain the roadway - plaster, right? I see my favourite building in that shot - man it's a nice one!

I can't believe how quickly your layout is coming together. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Mine seems to be taking forever!!

Wow Chris - nice work, and coming along quickly too...!

That 5 story building is fantastic. Looks great following the curve of the road too. Very different than the usual flats or shallow relief background buildings one usualy sees. :thumb:
