Good morning folks

We just got in from the Cub Scout Sleepover at the Delaware Museum of Natural History. It was fun night. The program we did involved birds. The kids made bird feeders and each group worked on one or two achievements. With the exception of two boys everyone went to sleep pretty fast. No one got in trouble and nothing got broke. We stopped off and grabbed breakfast on the way home. The kids each have basketball games but I not sure if they are going to make them.

It was 32 F when we left the museum. High today is supposed to be 45 F with rain.

Congratulations MIkey!:thumb::thumb:

I hope everybody has a good day.

We had many bad thunderstorms last night with between 4 and 6 inches of rain accompanied by high winds and gusts in excess of 70 mph. Many Valley Electric costumers lost power from approximately 11:00 pm to around 4:30 am. A flood warning has been issued for Bayou Anacoco near Rosepine until Tuesday morning.

I saw by my calender that the Chinese celebrated their New year this month. The year of the rat. That's the only reason I noticed it. I was born in 1960, which was also the year of the rat.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 2/17/2008

Wind Chill: 51°F
Humidity: 78%
Dew Point: 46°F

So Far Today
High: 55°F
Low: 51°F
Rain: 0.14"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 8mph NNE

Today High: 72 Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. West winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight Low: 40 Partly cloudy. Colder. Lows around 40. North winds around 10 mph.

More early morning shots from the layout.

Old Hiram Smith got in at the station early this am.

Nice pics, Jeff - one of the teachers at a recent training class I took is of Chinese descent and she gave each of us our name written on a piece of red paper in Chinese - v cool! Apparently this is also an important year since it includes the date 8-8-08, she said.

Sir J - I was having that problem with this site, but I fixed it. I think IE7 is trying to block popups. Well, my antivirus/firewall program also had this option turned on. I turned it off on the antiv/fw and left on in IE and it is working a lot better. I also indicated that this is a trusted website. Just FYI.

Good morning race fans!

A good day today. The rain is gone (Although we needed it!) and it is partly cloudy and 50's today. May hit 70 by Wed!

NASCAR all afternoon today. Cleaning up the office and around the house. Many race breaks will be required!

Mikey - Congrats! announce1balloon6

Roger - 7-7-07

All - the site access will be sticky until all page elements are downloaded. The more graphics and photos - the longer the download and the sticker the site for scrolling and posting. The speed of your internet connection directly affects this. Even with my high speed cable access - as sites add higher and higher graphics resolutions - the downloads are taking longer - it does get rather aggravating.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Lol Roger and Roy! I remember my Mom told me one day it was 1:23 PM on 4-5-67! I was in school one day and we all got excited because it was 2:34 PM on 5-6-78! These things are everywhere, of course.

Greetings from the frozen Heartlands where winter is playing another cruel trump card of rain, sleet, snow and howling winds. We actually are under a blizzard warning, first one of the year Doug, batten down the hatches, this one is dangerous.

I've spent quite a bit of time on the roads since Thursday night but it was all wonderful. I was able to hear some of the best jazz bands in the state and also spend some quality time with our Granddaughter. Good to get home last night after another day of judging at a decent time and not be dog tired.

For those of you with complaints about this site. Consider using Firefox as your browser, I have not had one problem and it's fast. I'm also on a Mac, certainly a Porsche when compared to a Ford Pinto Windoze computer. Internet Explorer, IMO, is a dinosaur and just not worth the hassle, certainly better ways to get around the web than IE.

Hurry up spring. Sure fun to have the Speed channel on and see the weather in Daytona Beach, if everything goes right we will be there in about 12 days, but who's counting? :thumb:

Evening all. What a day. Bride got home from Iowa at 230 am after she and her girlfriends (and the van) survived a near-death experience involving 'black' ice, guardrails and oncoming traffic. They were pretty shaken up but unhurt. I slogged to church on three hours 'sleep' to video direct. Now the middle boy is returning from his trip to Michigan and hopefully next week goes back to a little more normal. Great race - except for Junior finishing 9th. At least it's a top ten finish to begin the year - kudos to Newman.

Got a lot done on the layout - including putting lanterns on everything! Have to find a camera.

Brutus, I remember that date in '78!

Site zipped right in tonite, so I'm sayin something before I leave. Our temp reached 50 today with rain, melted a lot of snow but we have had so many 2/3 inch snows that the ground is still covered. Of course its more of a crystal ice now than actual snow. A dark rainy sunday seems like a good nap day so that was worth an hour. also worked on my full shelfs trying to find room for a few more marx cars. I did find room by raising one train up on a 2 by 4 and put another down in front of it. Pleasant dreams,,,S.J.

G'night, SJ. Doug, yep - that was a good one. I think we were right at the end of the school year, too. Had a great time dancing with my daughter tonight (Friday, she was too shy, but tonight I guess she was used to the idea more?), but now my feet hurt! Oh well, this was a memory for us both. Where is Ozzy? Hang tight, Jon. Hope the really bad weather misses you.

Minus 7C here in sunny Stockport plus 5C at lunch time.:winter1:
What's wrong with this site? IE7 is fine for me, is it hat some of the ERNIs you guys are using are a bit feeble in the Gigs department, since his recent upgrade my ERNI even works with MS. I have some Mac. stuff on and that runs OK! (famous last words!).
:killer:
Talking of Macs, me and the management are off to Sandbach to visit ALDI and then across the road to GristleburgersRus (McDonalds). In UK they are the pits when it comes to eateries but we are lovin it, you should see the kids faces when a 70 YO couple go and order Happy Meals.

 Good Morning
What a nite, wind blowing kept waking me up. On the plus side,it stayed above 32 and took some more of the snow with it. I see grass in some spots this AM. The gr.kids start winter break so my wife is gone till about 3:30 this week. Gee what will I do? You think I should run some trains, that sounds good. Have a good one.,,,,,,,,,S.J.

Nice relaxing day on Sunday, never left the house. I watch two races a year from beginning to end, the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500 and I do enjoy them immensely. The remainder of the TV time goes to the Cubs..... I know, why?

Fortunately the blizzard was gentle with us, the worst of it went to the east and never did live up to it's forecast, thank goodness. Lots of school closed to the north and east today, we are going back below zero this afternoon and evening wall1

Have a great day!

Hurry up spring

Glad you're OK, Jon. Morning everyone - peaceful here in Chicago with the Prez day holiday for most. No one on the trains. No one on the roads. No one in the offices. Should get a lot done. Supposed to be below freezing all week. Sigh. Have a few photos to post later. Brutus, that foot-sore feeling sure is worth it. John Baker, good to hear from you! I've always had a soft spot in my chloresterated heart for McDs!
