....of instant email notification! I have tried unsuccessfully to stop the instant email notifications on threads I have replied or subscribed to...I have gone to the User CP and chosen the option of "no instant email notification", they still keep coming wall1...I have tried to unsubcribe, they still keep coming hamr...what am I doing wrong??? Don't get me wrong, I love you guys, but when I'm out of town, I may come back to 200+ emails, which fills my box, which stops other emails, which causes more time wasting emails from Time Warner :curse:...............
Please to help Mr. Moderator :eek:ops:....
ps - before you ask, I did click the save changes button after making the changes ......

Richard,

I checked your settings and they seem to be set so that you don't receive any notifications. I did a few things for your settings, so try it and let me know if you are still receiving notifications. We have had a couple of other people with this same complaint, so I need some feedback from you so I can try to isolate the problem.

Hang in there and work with me on this.

OK, just keep me posted. If what I did works, I can at least advise others to do the same.

Oh, thanks:rolleyes:, my wife thinks I'm OK too.... well, most of the time she does  ... alright, so maybe just once it a while...:p:p

Hi Richard,
Sorry about the problems... the whole email thing is an impossible situation for us. We're stuck between being too open, and too closed, if we go in one direction too far we get too much incoming spam, if we go in the other too far we start hurting people who are honest and just trying to join the community. We get a lot more people who don't get the emails because they get filtered out because an ISP thinks is a spamm, and we want to verify everyone who registers to make sure they're not trying to spam us, and at the end of the day we all just want to pull our hair out! So, please don't think we're trying to do something bad to you, and thanks very much to Don for trying to figure this one out.

Thanks Peter, understand that I am not angry by any stretch of the imagination. I appreciate all that you guys do. I have no clue as to what, why, where or how things are done on the internet. This might be an impossible situation, and if so, then I will just deal with it. If I could check emails daily, then this wouldn't be a problem for me. But when I go out of town on business, it ususally is on some remote island, and I'm usually underwater! I just thought if the option was there to not receive instant email notification, that would be best for me.
I came home at lunch, and there are more emails from this morning's posts. If you guys can figure it out, great, if not, so be it. :thumb:

Richard,

This may take a bit of fooling around, and I'm still not sure I can correct the problem, but if you're willing to work with me for a bit, maybe we can find something out.

I don't have too much to work with, but I want to try different settings for you and see what happens. I just now shut off all your subscriptions. Let me know what that does for you. I also suggest we take this to PM's rather than take up a whole thread just testing something. If that's OK with you, PM me in a bit and let me know what changes you see. I can change a few other settings and we can see what those do as well....

Thanks for your patience.

Since we're on the subject, why is it when I click on the link in the email it takes me to the beginning of the thread, not the first post since my last visit?
