...By the way, I'm starting to develop an appreciation for FM units, due mainly to the pictures that you're posting. Keep 'em comin'. :thumb:
Wayne, i was so glad to read that:thumb::mrgreen: . you might enjoy my third installment of "Deano's Spotlight" series:winki::mrgreen: , ALSO, i hate to let the cat out of the bag:eeki: , but as soon as spring comes, you might also enjoy the "virtual" field trip i am going to take us on:thumb: .
Unfortunately though Wayne, it will use just about all the FM proto pics i have to do those projects, so I'm kinda hesitant to post many more of the FM shots i have taken till i do those posts
ops: , but for YOU, I'll see what i can do:winki::mrgreen: .
Hey Deano and all
It's funny how UP has become a front runner in my layout
planning.
:mrgreen: I have seen more interesting stuff on this
thread that I wasn't aware existed.sign1
:twisted:
Joe
Joe, if i had ANYTHING to do with UP becoming the front runner on your layout, then i am HONORED:winki::mrgreen: , if not
ops: , THATS STILL GREAT!:thumb::mrgreen:
Hey Joe, the last part of your post just made my day:winki: , THANK YOU!:mrgreen:
thats one of the things i am striving for doing this thread:thumb: .
a very good friend of mine, Steve(Nazgul) wrote me and said something to the effect he liked this thread because its as if you folks were sitting in my train room, and we were all talking/sharing train info, and perhaps learning some stuff:thumb: . thats EXACTLY how i am trying to do this, but it takes guys like YOU, Joe, to say weather i am "on track"
119: ) in doing this. THANK YOU, Joe, for letting me know I'm "on track":thumb::smilie: . (and of coarse THANK YOU Steve:winki::mrgreen: )
Triplex, THANK YOU for posting the link to that AWESOME shot of SWPC's SDP35:thumb::thumb::thumb:
Zachary, THANKS!:mrgreen: i wish you luck on getting your computer fixed:thumb: , be sure and thank your buddy for letting you use his to get you by:winki::smilie: .

ON MY SIDE OF THE TRACKS...
Though we have been having a horrible winter up here, i felt compelled to railfan a little today:winki: . I'm not one to drive in this stuff much, so instead of going to UP's or WSOR's yards in Janesville, i decided to stay in my back yard, and just railfan here before i stopped over to dads today:mrgreen: .
IC&E and UP run through here, so i first stopped down to the WEST YARD in S. Beloit , this was owned by the Milwaukee road but ICE has it now. i was lucky enough to get a couple shots of two of ICE's geeps, "the city of S.Beloit" and "the city of Janesville", it was high noon when i took these pics, but it was so overcast the shots arnt great
ops: , there was two buildings i had to contend with too, sorry, like i said, not great shots
ops: .
i had a big surprise there though:eeki: , remember the GP30 i took pics of at WSOR's round house in Janesville, well low and behold THERE IT WAS hooked up to the ICE geeps in South Beloit:eeki::thumb: . like i mentioned before, the GP30 is my FAVORITE of all the geeps, so i took a few more shots of it.:thumb:
After taking about 150 shots of the ICE geeps & the GP30, i decided to head over to the old CNW line UP runs on, its less then 2 miles from ICE so it just took a couple mins to get there:winki: . theres an industrial area that usually has a couple UP engines on the siding, and about three tracks full of hoppers, not today though:frowns: , no engines was there, but it was just after 12:00, they were probably out working, HOWEVER there was a couple strings of hoppers, so i took a few shots of the better looking ones:thumb: .
trudging back to the car through about 2' of snow at times:madd: , i happened to look over at the RR crossing transformer, i had seen UP painted over the CNW markings, but oddly, the UP markings were faded so bad, it looked as if the CNW painted over the UP:eeki: , i thought this was kinda neat, so i took a pic to share with you folks:winki::mrgreen: .
Well, that my friends sums up todays railfanning for me:winki: . if you have read this post, all the pics below are self explanatory:119: .
till next time...STAY ON TRACK!:winki:
