Hello from Ontario!

I apparently (inadvertently, I swear!) posted my first intro post in the card section, so here I am, all embarassed and stuff. I'm 26 years old, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, just getting into model railroading with a friend of mine who's been in the game for 20ish years and the help of the interwebs.

I'll be modelling in N-scale due to my limited space, and my predeliction for miniaturized things. I just purchased my first locomotive two days ago (a GE AC4400CW in Canadian Pacific beaver colours put out by Kato) and have just started putting together the benchwork for a layout that I've designed with help from my friend.

So, hello! I'm a frequent reader-in-the-shadow type, but love all the great people and information here.

Thanks! I just had a chance to play with it on a test track, since my track at home is barely even started, but it's really rather awesome so far.

If you trust CP, beavers are gold up here, but the last time I saw 'em in the woods around here, they were brown. ;-)

I know the fealing bud. I got a new BLI with sound last week and I can only run it back and forth on a 3 foot piece of track. Will be putting down some of my layout track this week and hopefully get to run it more.

As a Manitoba born farm boy one of my afterschool jobs was trapping beaver. I have seen them come in a range of colors from a dark brown, almost black, to a light tan(blond). Some were even a goldish color so CP isn't too far off.

BTW great loco choice. I have been shoping around for one in HO scale in a price range that is favourable to me.

Well, you clearly have more experience with beaver than I likely shall ever have!

Thanks! I'd been agonizing for a long time as to the locomotive I should get. I figured, it's local, I recognize it, and I'm somewhere in the middle between a toy train runner and a model railroader, so it was a good compromise. :)

Welcome! -- there's a wealth of info and good fellowship on this site. I've learned a lot about model railways as well as real railways. Rob (in Toronto).

Thank you again everyone for the really warm (chaleureux as I might normally say) welcome. I'm really enjoying just about everything this board has to offer, and hope I will be able to contribute in kind.

I've been working with my father (he has the carpentry skills!) to put up some benchwork for a first layout. The whole thing should be assembled and ready for modelling on Thursday night, so expect a post and some pictures in the N/Z forum soon!

Once again, a huge thank you for all the warm-fuzzies.
