Update!

elf: I'm still undecided but i'm thinking I might start the wheels again, either that or I might just go for a cover-up of some sort.

As for model progress, things have slowed down a fair bit, a project I've had sitting on the backburner for a while has been given priority "must build" status so if things weren't slow enough on this build it might get shelved for a while cos I'd rather not rush it. The longer it takes the more details I plan to add anyway.

Just thought I'd add a couple of pics to show where it's at, cos I still haven't replaced the digital camera that was also my phone so for now I just have a loaner and don't know when I'm going to lose it.

It seems the ink I printed with is pretty bad when it comes to holding it's colour, not to mention the green bits appearing where there was no sign of any colour even remotely like it, so I've pretty much decided I'm going to give it a touch up with an airbrush when it's done.

I'm not going to abandon this build while I knock out the other project but it might be a while before the next update.

It's still looking DAMN good buddy! Take your time. To rush would be a big mistake, a mistake I make all the time! LOL

Very nice, Jaffro!

One small thing, though...

The driver's seat is on the wrong side of the car.

You know, it's funny you mention that cos I was just thinking about this the other day.

The original movie "Mad Max" was re-released in the U.S as "The Road Warrior" with some very badly over-dubbed American accents to hide the very dodgy Aussie accents from the original. Ok, so the Aussie accent isn't dodgy but this was back in the days before popular Aussie actors started appearing in US made films and I think it was done to avoid putting US audiences off watching the film... or something.

The point I'm trying to make though, is that they came out with this badly dubbed movie (which any self respecting Aussie can't sit through for longer than 5 minutes without feeling sick) and yet they all drive on the wrong side of the car / road... didn't anybody pick up on that or was it just accepted that after the apocalypse, the first thing you need to do is start driving on the other side of the car / road?

Or maybe I just spend too much time thinking about trivial rubbish like that? who knows. All I can say is, if you feel the need to watch this movie in all it's glory, get a copy of the original Australian release. Or a remastered version... just anything without the dodgy dub job!

No, actually I've seen both Mad Max and the Road Warrior. We got them as:

Mad Max
Road Warrior
Beyond Thundercrapperdome (my own spelling)

Haven't seen the dubbed version you're talking about.

Hmm, tht's weird... It's most likely been re-released in all it's original glory by now, but I'm guessing you're old enough to have been around for the original (If I recall, BSG TOS was on tv over here about the same time Mad Max came out) :D

All I'd ever heard about the badly dubbed version was that it was thought the US audiences wouldn't be able to understand the Aussie accent.

Oh and as a side note I'd like to thank whoever it was who removed the smilie of the two dudes drinking beer that appeared every time I used to type the word "Aussie" :thumb:

Sure we love our beer here, but we also like to see the word "Aussie" when we type it :D

Yes indeed. the road warrior is the sequel to mad max. Mad max was by far the better movie IMHO. Liked them both a lot though. I agree with thundercrap..... although master blaster was pretty interesting :)

Wow. I'm just seeing this. Fantastic build, I don't know what to say. there are so many forums here that you can get lost in this place. How the heck do you guys moderate this place?

For my next build, I'm building from a white model then painting later so that won't be an issue, but in future printed builds i want to try a method I've seen spoken about a lot on these forums, which is basically to spray the printed parts in a clear lacquer or protective spray before building, as this allows wet glue to be wiped away with a damp cloth.

That's what I do with the ones I print. Let the ink dry for awhile then spray with a clear finish. You don't have to worry about smudges or bleeding colors. Plus, the finished model won't be as prone to fading and it will last longer since the paper is sealed and won't absorb moisture from the air.

Thanks for the comments guys, this model is sortof on hold while i concentrate on the Daring but i still find some time to spend on it every now and then.

Progress has slowed because I somewhat botched the build order and have built myself into a corner when it comes to getting the wheels on...(actually, it's more to do with the wheel arches) I'm also less than happy with my original attempt at the wheels so I intend to build them again as soon as I find out where my girlfriend has filed my reprint

The model is starting to show signs of age from sitting around on the table but I'm not too concerned as I intend to paint it now, as it has also faded a bit from a combination of sunlight, cheap ink, and me forgetting to spray it with some UV protection or at least put it away properly when not working on it :D

It's also become prone to attack from wandering beasts due to the lack of wheels...

Not to mention a suspicious incident involving the Interceptor and a scale cube... 9 days later this appeared...

Both those pics are taken from the side with wheel arches and tubs intact, because I used thicker card, I had to trim these to fit, and I've also attatched the underside of the car, before the tubs, which isn't helping much but seemed the easier way to go at the time... it definitely wasn't.

Thank you both for dragging this thread out of the ashes, I've been looking at the nearly finished Interceptor gathering dust on the shelf, thinking it's time to finish it off.

I am slowly regaining more spare time after starting a new job recently so it won't be long now before I can get back to work on this and my other build in progress.

uglyguy... another Aussie huh? there seems to be a few of us here, maybe one day we could all raid a local plastic model show of some sort and show them how far behind the times they all are. :p

sounds fun.....must be the profit margin or something that keeps card-models out of the shops......i know the markup is around 60% plus on plastic models .....or maybe its lack of advertising/awareness announce1
i recently showed a few of my friends the "marvin" i made and they were blown away.....they, as me, never knew this "craft" existed
