LOL. No, it's Skip. :)

I've been making some good progress now. I have just the backpack to do as far as the Gundam goes. There are still the shield and weapon but they're pretty simple in design.

Won't be long now before I start adding textures and mrkins to this model.

LOL, when I first read that I swore you said you were going to add some "merkins" to the model.

I'm not going to explain what a Merkin is... google it. :D

Tell me you didn't mean Merkins :p

As for the model, it's looking great Skip, Gundams aren't my thing but I'm definately impressed by a lot of the Gundam related model designs appearing lately.

How's that tumbler cockpit going? :p

I'll have to Google merkins. I did mean "markings". LOL

This damn keyboard of mine is on it's last legs so even though I'm hitting a key, the letter/number isn't coming up on screen. It'snot all my poor spelling and grammer I promise. :)

Yeah, there has been an imcrease in Gundam model designs lately. BRILLIANT! Is't it. :) I know it's not for everyone butI'm pleased that there's more choice out there these days for us Sci-Fi/Anime fans.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm doing my best to get this done in time for the comp and for a release.

Ohhh man, I think the GP03 would benifit from a merkin! How about a bright pink one, like in the wikipedia entry?

More seriously though, could you perhaps release a version without color when its finished? I'm interested right now in making my own version of it (color wise). I get kind of tired of the white and blue, its not great camo, so I was going to try to experiment with different color schemes. And GP03 is a great suit for it (probably my favorite Gundam, I like the "grunt" suits better though).

Anyway, just for consideration.

I'll have a think about that. Plus, it makes sense for those who build using coloured card.

Merking! LOL, Yeah I can imagine a Gundam with a merking on. Very funny. Glad I googled that now. :)

Let there be colour!!

Ok, the model is now all unfolded. As I said earlier I only unfolded half the model(the left side) so now I just ned to mirror the left side parts to give me the right side parts. Here's a pic of the PDO:

WIP46.jpg

I've also taken all the colour off the mesh as it makes it easier to add the details. I'll be adding the details like panel lines and what not first, save that and then add the colour later. This is because I'm doing two colour versions. Also it should make sense because I'll do the white version for Paragon too. So there'll be three version altogether of this. No more requests please! :) I'm not adding a pink merkin. LOL

After I mirrored the left side I couldn't resist colouring the head for the orange Experimental version. I'm almost done with that then it'll be time to go back to my plan and get the rest detailed first, then colour.

Hope you like it guys!! There'll be more picture updates from now on. :)

Good progress! I haven't watched a single episode of Gundam... But I'll build it anyway since it looks good! ^^

Thanks guys. :)

Lex, you should watch it. I always liked the look but thought I wouldn't like the anime. Now I'm hooked completely. When I'm not busy or working on this, I'm watching Gundam!

If you liked that preview then I think you may like this??

WIP49.jpg

More head detail, it's not exactly like the G-System kit but close. I didn't want it to be a 100% imitation of it, just based on it.

WIP48.jpg

And here is the center part for the chest/cockpit. Loads more to do yet.

I know I said earlier I'd be detailing then colouring but I can't help it. I'm as excited to see this as some of you may be. LOL So I'm just colouring as I go. Then I'll do the standard/traditional version next. That's my current plan, only with the blue version I'll be doing the white sheets for Paragons projects too. :) I just want to focus on this version first as It's supposed to be an entry for the free model comp. ;)

Pargon, this model will have 52 sheets of parts!! That's including the shield and the weapon. It's going to be 40cm tall.

Hope you like it. :)

I have not seen any episode of gundam either, But already own a couple of plastic kits along with the amazing papermodels already available. If the show is as cool as the mechs particularly those in this forum, then I'd better get my bum is gear and get a hold of some Episodes!

Where to start is a prob. hopefully, Google will provide! :p

but of course, if you want some backgrounder about the Gundam universe, watch the very first series...
Mobile Suit Gundam
here you'll learn what's so special about the Gundam itself (material and tech-wise)
and what's so special about the Gundam pilots (newtype), see how a child in a MS defeated 3 DOMs doing their killer Jet Stream Attack
