No problem, my friend! I was talking to my old buddy Jim in SC yesterday and he told me they have had a lot of cold cold weather there - down in the 40's, real cold for them. We were talking about the folks we used to work with - funny how many of my old friends are retired now and I've got a good 20 years to go - more if I still like my job then. I guess I always gravitated to the more mature guys I worked with instead of guys my age or younger - most of whom were just running around drinking etc back then and some still are.

Thomas arrived this afternoon. Backshop should ship tomorrow along with some boxes for the windy city. Got tobacco allotment buyout check today. :thumb: Can afford UPS. Town Board was over by 8:30. Use that gavel. Cold is worse. Hungry now since I did not have dinner. Would eat New England Clam Chouder. Yankee soup. Will look for something else. Jim F, plans on Backshop Video. Maybe we can find and exta copy for you. Scotts Odds and ends offers them now.
Later.

Man, I am SICK of winter. We ended up with a new 4" "only snowshowers" this morning and cold temps and tomorrow is supposed to go even colder but at least it's only two days. Without a doubt, this is one of the worst winters we've had in 20 years, the ice has really made it seem worse.

Tomorrow is my last free day until Sunday so I hope to shoot a lot of new shots of the layout since it will be too cold to go out. Lots of traveling beginning very early Friday AM so I'm keeping the fingers crossed for good roads. I'm going to do a little detour and follow the UP line Friday afternoon to the Illinois border, that's always fun.

Loaded up the fireplace tonight a little too much, it's 79 in here ,kinda feels good.

Thanks, I'll look that up when I get back from my trip. Running short of time now. Hope you are feeling better from that Yankee Crud

Got the van serviced yesterday and they kept it through today, also replaced tires (nearly 4 years old) and fixed window and hatchback - cost about $800. There went a really nice trainset! Hope I can get some more OT when I get back from FL.

Wife found a place near my hotel that has an international train and trolley museum? We'll be going there on Sunday (a week from this Sunday)!

Now, just got off the phone and found out one of my fishing buddies got fired with 30 days pay. He's disabled and they let him go because he couldn't keep up. If they don't give him a disability retirement package, there will be a lawsuit for sure. I think that if he does get the disability benefits, that will be the best solution in the end, he has been having real problems due to some disabilities from the first Gulf War.

Good night!

Well, I tried a few times to post last night...to no evail. I think I remember some of what I was going to post. Lets see....

Brutus, got your email and contact number. I will try when we get settled in to give you our number. I have a cell phone, but only make outgoing calls as many times I could not answer it anyway. Have to have a nurse hold it and if I forget to turn it off, they answer it. Easier to get paged and return call when I can.
Don, with regard to your position with the museum/children's train layout, if the group goes for a 503C designation, you could get train donations as a tax write-off as well as claim your milage and trips down to see Doug's layout. While I know that is not why you are getting into this, it does make it easier on the wallet.
I have a early case I am heading in to do now and hopefully it won't be too bad, as we have about 5 more cases afterwards. Tomorrow, I have a case and with any luck, once I am done I will be heading out with the family for Orlando. It should be about 4 to 5 hour drive and I would like to leave early enough to not have to drive in the dark.

Anyway, in case I can't get back on line till I return, prayers went out to Jason, Kurt, CSX30, and others. Jim, hope to catch up with you down in the warmth of Florida. Checked with the Contemporary....pools are heated to 82 degrees, so it looks like we will be doing a bit of swimming (added that for Jon's sake....ah, winter in the SOUTH!)
God Bless,
Dennis

Thanks Dennis, we'll be there in about 4 weeks, but who's counting? Tonight's low will hit -10 and that's with no wind

Lots of small errands to run today, need to get going.

HI GIZ,
20 and little cool not as bad as other morns this week but still cold. No snow, lied again, said it evaporated before hitting the ground. Way to cover up their boneheadedness.
Tonite to clean tracks, after supper.

JOHN F., ran my WEAVER 0-8-0 with smoke ran good over weekend then smoke stopped. Can't get it to operate. Then sound went out. I fixed the sound had to resolder wire to speaker. I guess might have to put in TAS smoke unit, wasn't to pleased with the slueth unit.

B good,

Good Morning................
It is a sunny and clear 12 degrees. Going up to only 32 today, with sunshine.
Today is grocery shopping day. Yuk job. Prices are still high. Gas is at $2.87 here. Still too high. Looks like the economy is in trouble. People will hold onto their money more. Except train buying. That should be doing good. Be back later.
Everyone have a nice day,
Chuck

Jon, I know you are looking forward to it. Big problem for you is that you have to go back to the freezing cold. Perhaps you may find a way to delay your return till more moderate temps.

Waiting to get started on 3rd case. Hope that this day moves along so I can get some packing done and plan out the train store visits.
God Bless,
dennis

Good morning folks

It was 29 F as I headed on the road this morning. Our high will be 39 F. I had to deal with frozen doors on the van again this morning as a result of our rain yesterday. Speaking of yesterday’s storm it turned into a dud. All the hype about freezing rain and sleet for the afternoon and evening and all we got was a couple hours of light rain.

I didn’t make here to post yesterday. I was on the road most of the day. I had a Final Inspection on one project and field viewed a couple of other ones. The Final Inspection was on a covered bridge restoration project. Several years ago a couple of morons set fire to the bridge cover and the cover was destroyed. Our project replicated the cover. Here is a link to an article with photos about the bridge: Covered bridge is close to reopening (phillyBurbs.com) | Courier Times

No modeling last night. Last night we worked on my son’s pinewood derby car. I need to seal it with a gloss finish and put the wheels on and he is ready to go. We also worked on school projects. My son had to make a 3D relief map of Pennsylvania which we did with Play-do. My daughter had to do a news report on a renewable resource. Tonight we have my daughter’s flute lesson and Cub Scout den meetings.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. You Yanks failed again. When the presip started, temps were on the rise. :thumb: Nothing but rain all night. Sun coming out. Got one or two trips to UPS today. Got to start packing for a long flight to WA state. Tomorrow will be a long day. Up early to drive to Raleigh for physical at 8 AM. Flight out at 5 PM and arrive 2 AM our time. Jim F, your buddy will certainly have a law suite. VA [who is worthless it seems] should be screaming down their backs. Dennis, Jon could come back by Wilmington NC and sit and sip sweet ice tea [he loves so well].

Here is one for LAZ. Jon E, did you take this one?

Hey, where's my post go? Let's try again. Morning all. Any Red Velvet Cake left? I see crumbs where John F attacked the last piece.

Dennis and Brutus, have a great trip. I enjoyed our visit a few months ago - I'll try not to be jealous. Brutus, glad you're feeling better. Sorry about your buddy - that's not right.

Like Jon said, it is crazy-cold here - and for the foreseeable future. At least the van started up last evening after 16 hours in sub-zero temps. :car1:Have a good day everyone.

Hey Laz, here's one for you:

I can't take credit for this one. It was killed in Cherokee County, Kentucky I believe. Anyway, hope you have better luck next year.
