Good day all. 2 degrees here. I think I'm the only one who doesn't have the day off tomorrow. Long day here after serving as video director at church and picking up the daughter from camp - found her and her friend among 640 kids and all their gear. Now to check in with my online class, and watch the game. Hopefully read the paper too. Hmmm, beer's frozen. Rats. ReFresh is a great conference.

Welcome to the club. Had one good out the other night. Moving it by hand. :curse: They re the most undependable things I have seen. Going to slowly change to Ross I think.
Sure am glad I went with Fastrack!:thumb: And for Frank53, I have plenty of Tubular for making a second layout that will have all the postwar accessories!:eek:ops:

On a more serious note, I have learned over the last few days that two of my good friends are not having to go back to Iraq. One is in the Marines and the other is in the Army. Due to some MOS and promotions, they are both assigned to tasks here. While I have nothing but praise for those going, it is good when someone you know gets a reprieve.:thumb::thumb:

Well I got the old one out. Had to take up about 6' of track to get enough slack to get it out, then had to unsolder the jumpers that I put in to route the feeder around it when the internal PC board disintegrated. Took a while because I had to pay a lot of attention to the first game. Now I can start to install the new one while watching the second game - during time-outs and commercials.
sign1

I couldn't even use this one manually as the spring would not hold the points in the straight through position. Haven't taken it apart yet to see what is causing the problem.

Doug, Frozen beer?! Sorry to hear about that. I think we have some Sam Adams Light in the fridge that my wife bought a few weeks ago - Come on over and grab one! Rootbeer for Sir James too!

Went and saw Cloverfield. I liked it a lot, it was really scary and except for the usual giant monster on spindly legs physics problem, everything seemed really real including the effects on the buildings and stuff during the rampage. There is a lot of information on the internet with the back story of who and why and stuff and none of that is in the movie BTW.

Ozzy, we have the first 3 Rambos on discs we bought like 10 years ago... I like the first one a lot, but my wife and I both think the 2nd was the best. The 3rd one was not very good for us. The new movie looks like it will be pretty good though.

I picked up some groceries and the Feb issue of Trains - looks interesting. Dropped the van off for a service tomorrow and to get a lift arm on the hatch back and a window switch fixed - should all be under warranty. Went to Culvers for dinner.

Finally home. Kids are watching ET. This is the new, re-release version. Spielberg and company took the guns out of the hands of the police and replaced them all with radios.....kind of rediculous, a bunch of cops, each with a radio in his hand. PC gone amuck.

Hope to get plenty of rest tonight as I have an early case in the morning.
God Bless,
Dennis

11 degrees and down to 0 by sunrise.no snow. a little warmer tomorrow.
EVENING ALL, I went to a local train show today. very well attended giant parking lot overflowing. this is just the fourth year and has outgrown all other shows. Its a school fund raiser event that is well promoted. Bought a Wms GP38 DT&I the last of the Jerry Williams orders. I left it with one of the module groups to run while I window shopped and I hear it was closely watched as it is a local road. Have a safe tomorrow.,,,Sir James

John, thsoe MTH switches can be irritating. Some times I wish I had Mikey Boy so I could bang on his head. Fife asked them at York about my problem and MTh said they wer not awar of switch problems. If I go this year, they will and probably will have me thrown out of York. Too much money for them to ignore.
Cold outside. You Yanks can keep our cold air. :curse:
Good night all. Tomorrow is holiday for wife. wall1 She wants to go look at bedroom suites for our room as she is moving ours up to the room I just cleaned.

Don, with regard to tomorrow, why not work half a day? You can go in and catch up on any leftover projects and be there for any new things that come across the desk. If they happen after you leave, well, at least you put forth the effort.

As I said the insight you have is uncanny. That's exactly what I plan on doing, if slow leave at noon.

Went to go out to the train room this morning, I had to go back in and get a sweatshirt, it was only 54. Finally got up to about 68, but when that sun went down, it sure got cold fast.

That was a great Packer/Giant game, would have liked to see the Pack win though. Did get my shelving done. The shelves I am using are ones I've had for probably 25 years. It has some type of Luan veneer, and boy is that tough! Went thru 4 drill bits, drilling pilot holes. Even got stuff put out on the shelves, and of course ran out of room. I think a train sale may be in the works. Going to get rid of a MPC Disney Set, & 75th Anniversary Special.

Think will go and check the SPF and stuff.

Chuck the water is way to cold its probably about 62 or so. That thing is just a big dust trap!! Only good thing is you don't have to mow it.

I will try this again...didn't work first go around. Checked the temp at home before coming in. At 0430, it was 17degrees! Way too cold for these parts. Had me thinking about when was the last time I had the coolant changed in the car. I made it, but still wonder.

Don, great minds think alike. I may be interested in the sets you are getting rid of. My Bride would probably like the Disney set since we are going this week. I would like the 75th anniversary set. Let me know what you want for them and we will see if we can make it happen...read that I have to check with SWMBO.

Chief, thanks for the information. I will be getting back to the wiring when we return from seeing the big Rat...the one in Orlando SOOWEE. Anyway, hope everyone has a great day and week,
Dennis

Chief--you have my deepest sympathy with the wifes day off and going shopping. Fortunately my wife went back to work today (even though she works at a bank) so I can get done what needs to be done. I would love to have a new 50" HD TV in the living room to replace our tiny 27", not sure I can make a strong enough sales pitch as the Armoir that she loves would have to go. I even have the money set aside for the purchase of the TV, I NEVER should have agreed to that %$@# Armoir, what was I thinking? Our living room is fairly large so I'm thinking a 50" would be just right, even our grown sons agree but there's no dealing with SWMBO!

Good Morning...............
It is cold outside. Going up to 28 today with sunshine. Busy in the house today. I have to finish this project. Then, I am home free. Whatever that means. No train time in sight. Maybe tomorrow.
Yes, Don, 62 is too cold for swimming. I like your comment about not having to mow it. sign1
Well, got to get working. See you guys later,
Chuck

Dennis--
We are also headed to Orlando and Vero Beach at the end of Feb., I think we are doing one day at Epcot and just coasting the rest of the time. We have good friends at Vero Beach and VERY much looking forward to that time as neither one of us has ever been there. Also planning on one day at Daytona Beach for the start of Bike Week, YESbounce7

Morning everyone. Thanks for the beer, Brutus!

I think I am the only one at work in Chicago today - tough walk from the station to the office with the wind and snow. :winter1:At least McDonalds had free coffee today. :java1:

Great game last eve. Ended up skipping the end to sit with the family and watch Catch Me if You Can - in between, painted a few lanterns for Thomas. Couldn't find that tacky Scenic Accent Glue so I could re-arrange them according to the train. Have a few more places to search this week and next.

Dennis, glad about your friends. My cousin is a Capt. and has had his deployment post-surge delayed indefinitely.

Jon, Bike Week looks fun - though most of the photos I could find were not fit for family viewing. Of course I initially thought it had to do with bicycles.

May those of you at home be warm and able to run some trains today!

Morning. Yankee cold. Time for a good hot bowl of GRITS. [;)] Off with wife to shop for a new bedroom suit. Moving one from master to upstairs where I cleaned out. Got to repaint and etc that room before Feb 1. Means busy when I get home. Warming up now. Actually feels warmer than yesterday as no wind. Later.

Morning - enjoying my holiday with a kidney stone. :nope: Woke up with symptoms, got in to see doctor and have a CT scan at 12:30. Might explain why I've been uncomfortable for the past couple days I guess. Hoping for the best.

Good luck with your CT scan.
Wife had that problem, years ago. No fun.

Well, got call from doctor's office and insurance is closed today, so CT scan will be Wednesday - now I can eat something! Thanks, Chuck. I described some things and doc seemed to think I've had them before a few times.
