Morning Y'all, had a restless night last night and am lucky in that I got to sleep a little later than usual...I'm on call, so hopefully they won't beat me up this week. Was reading the January OGR and they had a article on building 3D scenery similar to a project I plan on at the back of my layout. Gave me some ideas, but will have to wait. I think my Legacy system will be here on Wed. A little more wiring and I should have things ready to go.

Chief, I am not sure exactly what retirement is supposed to be like, but my impression is nothing like what you have been doing. You seem busier than ever and I thought it was the opposite. Enjoy it!
God Bless,
dennis

A belated good morning from a very cold Chicago.

Ozzy, that garage looks great! For shingles, I am always taking the 'cheap-o' route - I've tried both colored construction paper - for tar shingles - and cardstock - cut from cereal boxes. For the latter, I make strips the length of the roof, then partially cut the strip at the intervals to represent the individual shingles - finally, layer each strip from top to bottom on the roof.

Dennis, thanks for sharing that magic moment. They are sometimes hard to remember when the little ones become teenagers. ;) Our youngest is a great reminder! Boy, I wish I had a cushy chair when video directing. I'm usually perched high on a stool overlooking the monitors.

Tom, what a productive weekend! Can't wait to see photos of some of your finished work.

Laz,
From my old school days, it was always the girls who had the roughest fights. We may punch and wrestle, but they would gouge, claw, rip, scrape, kick, and anything else. Let you know which ladies to stay away from.
Not much going on today. Big case in the morning, but it is not mine and so far, it looks like I may get some sleep tonight. Anyway, hope everyone has a good one.
Dennis
PS: Doug, we got some really nice chairs for the production studio. We have a TV station that we run and so some folks are there all the time. It makes it nice for those of us who only have to be there for the services.

Nah, just the can I keep my ballasting sand in. I buy that colored sand art sand at Wal-Mart by the box. It's cheaper that way. It doesn't matter to me what color it is as it'll be covered by the finish layer of ballast that goes on over it. I also use the green, yellow, red and blue sand along roads and paths. The different colors look like patches of flowers and the tiny grains are almost the right scale.

speaking of second pic, that windshield looks a little dislodged. Still, that's a good paint job jeffery!:thumb: Got me thinking about messing around with a few old engines, once I get some:eek:ops::mrgreen:

That is better than Buckeye. He doesn't use a hammock. He just passes on the tracks.

Southern Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and cole slaw. bounce7 Got my Lionel oil derrick and pump wired and working. Later.

Good job Jeffrey, looks very sharp and smooth to me. Laz, be careful! John Baker, if you don't want to cut your fastrack, you can buy isolated sections and more terminal track(s). I think most people make their own, though. I've heard that having a steady load on the CW80 makes it work better. TomPM - you sure got a lot done!

Have been conversing latly with someone at modelpower(HO manufacturer) The rumor that they have old marx tooling is half right they only have the HO tooling from marx which I was unaware that marx made HO trains:cool:

Morning!

Lashed up 2-NS and 1-CSX engine on the same mixed freight. Can't post photos from here...Perhaps next Sunday.
Laying low today
Kurt

Better lay low. Adding a low level CSX engine to the great NS team of engines. For the above, may you always have crossed eyes and be snaggle toothed.

Chief - How did you get that picture? That's only about 6 miles from here, you should have seen what I was watching, It is right outside of Fritz's Lounge and Gentlemens Club.

Good evening. Called in for an emergency. I hope to get some sleep. If I spent half the time on my layout as I do covering emergencies, I'd have it done and running by now. I am really looking forward to the Orlando trip about this hour. Hope everyone has a good night. Figure the only one awake is probably Don.

Good morning folks

It was a crisp 29 F as I rolled out of the driveway this morning. It took me a little while to get in the van. I had to deal with frozen doors as a result of all the rain yesterday and the overnight temperature drop. Our high today is supposed to be 39 F with the slight chance of rain or snow.

No modeling last night. I did put away from some things and straighten the layout up some.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning al. Cold here [Yankees left the door open]. NO SNOW. :thumb::twisted: Actually might get some early tomorrow AM but turn to rain. Depends on temps when the presip starts. Off to Mom's down east. Stopping by a Miss Edna's buddy's house and see his layout. About half way to Mom's. Have a great day.

PS: where is Dr. John lately???????

I wanted to take a minute and thank both Chief and Jefelctric for the great donations they have made to our Museum.
The Lionel Electric set that I posted on has also been donated to our musuem. This also is a great find for us.
We also have recived an outstanding S gauge layout, but of cousre we have to move it and marry it into our layout. Now all we need is more S gauge engines and rolling stock.

' Morning from a very cold Chicago where it is 19 but feels like 8 - a day when you can feel the cold through the bottom of your shoes. :-o Orlando or anyplace else sounds real good now - Ran the trains a bit last evening instead of watching TV. Placed the barber shop building I got on sale over the weekend back in town at the far end of the layout. I randomly light buildings in town - though don't like this one lit - the entire ceramic shell glows. I'll adjust it after unpacking the newspaper building - probably with my youngest tomorrow eve. Got class tonight. Hope the car isn't too frozen in the Metra lot at 10 pm. :car1:
