Hi guys,

Spent the afternoon trap shooting with the son and grandsons. Lot of fun, but as usually they all outshot me. Hope to get some work done on the train shelves tomorrow afternoon unless I have to spend a lot of time playing with the snow, drive way, side walks, greenhouse roof, etc.

Hoping the painter will finish up on Tuesday, that will be day #10. Jean spent most of the day getting ready, moving small stuff, he does the heavy lifting.

Was a good night service tonight. I worked up in video control during service, so I had the cushy chair. A quick story I posted elsewhere today. Yesterday morning, about 4am, my 5 year old came into the bed between my wife and I and was facing me, snuggled up and playing with my hair till he went back to sleep. I was wide awake....just thinking about how special this moment was. It is something I will hold onto and try to recall during those teenage years down the road. The love of a child is so special. I just wanted to share that with our friends here.
God Bless,
Dennis

RT - :-D Very funny!

Played games with son for a while, but never got to the basement as wife brought daughter home sick. So, we just chilled and watched Mr. Bean videos. Oh well, good family time beats good train time. Railroad Tycoon the Board Game is huge and took about an hour to figure out how to set it up and how the game plays. We put in about an hour before my wife got home with the groceries and he had to clear way for dinner anyway. Looks like a fun strategy game to me. The board and a few of the punch out pieces are in French. Apparently the publisher called this "International" version and used up all their supply sort of wily nilly. But, the rest of the cards and instructions are in english and this is no big deal. City names are correct english and the Eastern USA is mapped. Two thumbs up for Cool factor and game play (so far).

Battery in old (wife's) laptop died. She made some sounds about a new laptop, but I found a replacement battery for $78 shipped. With all the $$$ going out this month, we need to start taking it easy big time for a while.

Hmmm, where is Sir James? We have Ben and Jerry's PHISH Icecream. Nice story, Dennis, thanks for sharing that!

Watching New Yankee Workshop from DVR, he's making a router station. Looks like a great project, I think.

Thanks Dennis for the story about last night. I think "the terrible two's" and the "teenage years" are way over exaggerated. Sure, there are moments of frustration but more importantly, there are more moments of love and relationship building than you will ever realize. We have enjoyed every chapter of our lives and now that we see the sun setting we realize even more what a great time we've had. AND being a grandparent is even more fun than we ever thought :thumb: Life is good :thumb:

JOHN, what are you shooting for trap? Sounds fun, our rifle/pistol/shotgun range is 3 miles from my house. In the summer will run down there with packpack on and pistol shoot 50 then run back, fun.

Yep, I got caught. But as a NEW OTTS member I was on assignment to take some pictures of good Ol' Roseyville. I did escape, told them I had to have a minimum of 4 hours of direct sunlight everyday. So here are the pics......

I was initially met by the Chief's secretary in the outer office...

She had just gotton to work, and brought lunch. She asked if I had seen the park, and lake there. I hadn't so she said they had a great fishing hole, boating, and even horse shoes.

Mary Lou, then took me over to meet the park rangers, (whom seemed preoccupied)

Finally, I thought it was time to leave, and offered to buy lunch. But then when I got to the restaurant, I even thought better of it.

"Homewrecker Hot Dogs" didn't sound that good, fortunately they did have another restaurant in Roseyville.

Which did double duty as the Roseyville Music and Video library.

Which was closed due to the town Planning and Maintenance department doing there annual inspection.

While they were "ciphering" through the stuff to do, I made my escape and headed North.

Been off the forum a few days-nothing much to talk about, plenty of good reading from you guys though. This morning Her Majesty's Mail delivered a parcel from Charles Ro, a track pack for adding a passing siding to Lionel. Unpacked it, got a spot of brain ache, it's added 10" all round to my little loop of track. It has now taken over my lounge, so I will now have to get moving with the base boards. An added complication is that the points/switches are non isolating requiring the provision of separate track breaks and power supplies to the dead sections. Sure going to be a busy year.
Chief, as you say the CW80 can play up and as you suggest I will try a 7watt lamp across the output terminals.

Morning!

OZZY: Garage looks great! Adding small vertical trim pieces at the building corners will match the windows. Sheets of clapboard siding in plastic and wood are available if you want to go in that direction.

John Baker: You can cut your own isolated track sections by cutting a space in a side rail in the Fastrack, and removing the metal jumper. Insulated track sections are made by removing the metal jumper from the outside rails of the back of the track section. Layout looks great in a short amount of time!

McCormic-Stillman Railroad was a great find. Great for the kids! Road Carousel 3-times, and the train 2-times. Walked thru the Pullman cars Roosevelt rode. Nice exhibits. All the model trains were running, N, HO, and O. Thinking of yuz giz, and John CSX30. Lashed up 2-NS and 1-CSX engine on the same mixed freight. Can't post photos from here...Perhaps next Sunday.
Laying low today...Ribs for dinner!

Kurt,

Glad you made it over to the train park, there's much more there to see than there is up at the Adobe Train park. Adobe has two nice layouts inside, but they are works in progress.

It was a delight to meet with you this weekend.:thumb: It's always great to meet model train folk, but especially those that are here on the Gauge. Yep, Kurt stopped by the house for a while on Saturday morning. I was hoping TrainNut was going to make it over too, but he had a meeting that lasted longer than anticipated. He called about five minutes after you left Kurt.

Anyway, great meeting another Gauger, and Kurt, enjoy the rest of your stay here and have a safe trip back home.

Good morning folks

It was 36 F as I headed out. We did not get any of the hyped up snow that the weather mis-forecasters were predicating. Our high today will be 44 F.

We had a productive weekend. We did the usual grocery shopping. We took down the remaining Christmas decorations expect for the tree. Christmas is a big deal in our house and it literally takes weeks to undecorated. The tree alone will take several nights once we get going.

I had a great weekend modeling. I finished the coil cars. I also weathered and sealed a Athearn BB B&O RPO baggage car, and Walthers Santa Fe express reefer, two REA express reefers, two B&O troop conversion baggage cars, and heavyweight B&O baggage, sleeper, and diner, Pullman sleep, and C&O coach, and the Bachmann Sharks. I also got the weights installed in my son’s pinewood derby car.

I hope everybody has a good day.
