Hello All,

I just finished my Alpha fighter designed by Janx last night.

I originally intended to be doing a build thread of the model, but I was so caught up in it by time I stopped building it each night it was time for bed so I had no time to post pics of the progress :p It's been a long time since I was this excited about a kit :D

Ok on with the pics :D

The first thing I like to do is pre-score everything before cutting.

The only fit issue I had was the head was a tad too long for the space under the cockpit. The solution I had was to trim off a part of the gray part on the back of the head.

What's been built so far compared to one of the Toynami Masterpiece Alphas.

Note how far out the legs are on the M.P. Alpha. This is a big problem for all transforming examples of this mecha. It's a matter of anime vs reality. Janx's Alpha like the 1/72 plastic fighter mode has altered some porportions of a few components to look more like it's apperance in the cartoon. However an actual functioning, transforming model would look much like the M.P. Alpha here. Man that back end is ugly ain't it?

The Legs coming together.

Note on the top part of the thigh I ommited the bottom of the "box" to simplify construction. I actually did this on a lot of small pieces that were to be formed as a fully enclosed box.

Building and installing the tail fins.

Note I removed most of the tabs for this part. I only left the one on the bottom to give the fin some thickness.

Building the wings and installed. The leading edge is a seprate piece which was a tad tricky but it had a nice effect.

Thanks for the great model Janx. It was a sheer pleasur eto build and it brought back a lot of fond memories of Robotech :D :D :D

Hope everybody enjoyed the build thread (all at once!!!). I just couldn't stop building long enough to post my progress!

Now that this one is done time to build Thunderchild's SDF 1 :D

Excellent thread, hehe but I would say that. Now if only I could build it that way.

Will redesign a few bits based on what you've put down G1. Once the Firefox is done for Will (Wip) will sort the Guardian and Battloid out. I and Z versions are 90% done just needs textures.

Things starting to get back to normal here again, so will get on with it.
