Sweet, I've wanted to do a bike for quite a while now but the ones on Yamaha's site have always seemed daunting to me. This looks like just the ticket. Printed and already started on it. :thumb:

Thanks!

Though the site is legit there is content on that page which is adult in nature. Nothing personal we just cant link to it from here. This has been discussed at length from a post a while back amongst the mods, admins and site owner.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Chris

How about we post the link with a disclaimer of "some adult themed models"?

Another thought: How about letting people e-mail the moderators for the link?

In the past we have used the disclaimer, we have decided this is not sufficent since we have no regulation of the age of the people that visit the site. If you choose to share it amongst yourselves thats your choice of course. I would just make sure you know who you are giving it too. Like If Russell asked me I would have no problems - I know him quite well. If somebody signed up with one post I probably would not unless I knew them from elsewhere. Jut my opinion though.

:curse::nope:wall1You cannot protect stupid people from themselves. And if they cannot read a disclaimer, then they should not even be here (as they should not even be able to figure out how to register).

- The WWW....now in "Moronovision"....

It's not so much about stupid people, but more to do with children who actively surf the site. Many of our members share their card modeling with their children, and that includes their access to the forums.

It has been requested in the past that this kind of content simply not be allowed at all, anywhere on the board, and so that's pretty much the way it is.

Having said that however, I do see it from both sides, and find it frustrating myself that links to whole websites of "safe" models can be blocked simply due to one or two of the models on that site.

I'd like to look into coming up with a way we could make such links available, without the possibility of them falling into the wrong hands, ie: children and/or the previously mentioned "stupid people". Having not spoken to the Admins about it yet though, that's all I'll say for now.

Most kids will see that type of disclaimer and think - man I gotta go there - I just say that from when I was a kid ;) Kids are kids, not stupid people. I dont care if stupid people check it out or not heh heh there are some mighty nice models there too.

Are we allowed to state the author's name, at least?

I'm sure most people would know how to progress from there.

Is this the site that has like 8 or so nice models, and one anime-inspired 'joke' model? If so, has anybody contacted the site owner and given the concern, so perhaps they could hide the adult content model and allow links from our forum? Or perhaps they don't want that on purpose...

It would be preferable if you didnt try to find ways around the site policy.

Dansls - excellent suggestion - I will do so!

Oylpslyk - awesome and Lucky Luke to boot! :)

Dansls - I will still pursue given the above find :)

It is my strong concern that most, if not all his model are adaptations, simply ripping the wire frame and texture for a game like final fantasy is easy, but distributing a paper model made from this is piracy. I don't have the time to crack open the files and show you that I'm right, so you will have to take it at face value... But looking, at a stand he obviously made him self for one of the models, and the models, you begin to understand

I'm not sure exactly how I feel about that... I dont do much work at all with 3d, but there is an absolute plethora of game models available, across nearly all genres, that have been simply pulled apart with pepakura.

if he were selling them it might be a different story, but as long as there's no money changin hands for the files I wouldnt be so quick to put such a label on it...

just my 2¢

Well, whether it is acceptable on this forum or not is one thing, whether it infringes on someone else’s intellectual probably, opening that person to liability is another matter, and the lightly hood of such a claim being made taken in to consideration, and so forth...
This was not my point; my point was, it is a breach of the copyright, stating that no part of the game may be reproduced.
When people create their own models based on others works, be it a military truck or a cartoon figure, they are not copying, but creating something new in that image, even though the borderline may be fluid, that’s how I understand it. In the end, the moderators make the decision.

dont get me wrong I understand what your saying...

I guess my point is that one way or the other we are all copying SOMETHING...lol and since the mesh-models in question are always instantly identifiable, not as to who unfolded them, but to what they are affiliated with.

like i said earlier tho, if he were makin a buck off of it, then I would most definately have a problem with it.

and btw - no, piracy is in no way condoned on this forum.

(to be completely honest though, unfolded game meshes often make for lousy models...) its just that usually no-one's made a better example yet!
