My Open House = Successful

I think that sounds like a great idea! The only club around here is an enourmous G scale, or is it O:rolleyes:, well anyway the layout is AWESOME, but you need to be 18 to join and run trains, so I have two, (closer o one and a half:p) years to go. They said I would be an exception if they could make one, they just simply cannot.

Gary, sounds like the openhouse was great, even if it was small, but I think smaller would be better, at least for the first one. Wish I could have been down there! I would have had no problem running the trains, well with permission that is:mrgreen:.

It's really good to hear that your open house was a success, Gary, but I told you that it would be. ;) Nice to know that GERN was a hit, too. Looks like there are eight of us so far either modelling GERN or working on it. Maybe your open house will recruit a few more.

Gary: how close is Texas to Florida? I still don't think I can wangle a detour.
I had the GERN cars and factory out at the show on the weekend, also the ad. Didn't get much response; I wonder if they thought I was trying to sell flux. I had one wagon with licorice jelly beans and another with tan ones (not sure which flavour). The one was carrying coal for the factory; the second had haggis "fresh from the mines" for the men's lunch. Somewhere I have some sacks for the flux...

Our club is a visiting homes type. Too many varieties of British modelling to make a club layout. We do have little mini-gatherings every so often, with selected non-members invited, plus our big show every 2 years.

Shoot Miles, you aren't that far away. Just hop in your Lear Jet and you'll be there in an hour or so!

For real, if any of you are ever down this way near Houston, give me a holler and we'll get together.
Gary - I hop a dive boat out of Freeport 3-4 times a year. I would love to stop by for a couple of hours to run trains with you. :thumb: Rumor has it there may be an exploratory team with me to investigate expanding the Texas Division of Gern Industries up here in North Texas....
